Tim/Titan Mint..where are you???

I somehow just learned that as of right now if you own a 2FA Titan Coin you do not have access to the bitcoin. The Titan website is needed to redeem, due to the 2FA factor, and is currently not operational. If memory serves me this has been an issue at times over the years.

I know that some people have been trying to contact Tim/Titan in attempt to redeem their coins in multiple ways, coming up with zero responses for over a year now. This is obviously a very serious and troubling issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

Does anyone know Tim or anyone else from Titan? If so, please pass this thread along. Tim needs to resurface and make things right immediately.  If a response is not received very soon I believe everyone with an un-redeemed 2FA needs to come forward to start working towards next steps together. There’s A LOT of money at stake here.

Getting really tired of having to write these types of posts up year after year.

Thanks so much ChiBitCTy, I have a handful of the 2014 .1s with all the correct 2fa info. I did not know of this issue until I sent one of them to teegumes for his canary redemption thread ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5290065.0 ) last year, only to get his update that the titanbtc.com site for redeeming needs updated in order for the process to work. I have tried every phone number and email I was able to find online and from members of this forum that had dealt with Tim and other titan employees directly when the coins were being produced, with zero responses. I really appreciate you doing this and I'm sure a lot of others will be thankful if this helps this major issue get resolved.

2fa isn't the most safe thing in the world, if it's only 6 digits it could be breakable i think, no idea how it works.

2fa in this situation is a password and email assigned to each coin that is needed with the private key and coin ID, as well as a working site lol

Might be time to pursue legal action and also find out if this is a registered business in TX.  This is crypto so might be different, but years ago- before BTC existed I got ripped off on an extended warranty by a small dealership that went out of business- I found out the hard way when a covered repair was denied because the policy didn't exist.  I got ahold of the local government office that had the businesses that were active and inactive on file.  I briefly explained the situation as to why I was requesting the dealer bond info.  They provided the info and I was able to file a claim against the dealer bond and got fully reimbursed for the cost of the extended warranty, which I paid for but was non existent, and the repair as it was supposed to be covered by the extended warranty.  Even though the place was out of business at the time and insurance no longer, the insurance company said they were on the hook as the insurance was valid at the time I purchased the extended warranty.  I had to sign a release for the money stating no more future claims.  How much one could get back from the dealer bond would depend on how much is the dealer bond for and claim amounts.  If paid out claims were to exceed dealer bond amount, then nothing would be left.  As this is crypto and things vary by state, not how sure how or if this would work but wanted to share as it could be potentially helpful outright or peel back another layer or few.

Great idea, but I highly doubt Titan was bonded let alone registered with the local government.
Considering none of this is regulated, there would be nothing except for his registration with the state/fed. tax boards.

That phone number was last used in 2018 by him. It is no longer valid.

Might be worth the $29.99 to do online search for their current information......

I had a similar issue trying to contact Tim recently with zero success.  I searched online and found numerous emails, addresses and phone numbers, but never was able to hear back from him, after many attempts.   Its a shame if he has disappeared, as he made promises and guarantees on the Titan website about keeping the system running and ensuring people's confidence.

His linkedin profile has him listed as CTO at inklocker http://www.inklocker.com/ (site is offline) - but that looks outdated as he has not posted there since 2014.

hmm, too bad you cant simply:

IMO if you own a non-2FA Titan you should peel it sooner than later immediately.  It's been over an entire year with no response, and all we can do is speculate at this point, so it would be wiser to speculate a potential scam and peel rather than be sorry down the road.  One of our fellow collectors is a lawyer and have spoken to them a bit about how to approach all this.  What's even more disturbing at this point, and should be a valuable lesson to all of us, is to read the shit out of a coin makers terms of service/use.  I should know better too, as some of the companies I've done scam write ups about before did the same thing Titan did, and wrote in verbiage that basically states after you buy the coin, if anything goes wrong, or if you plan on the website always being up to redeem the 2FA coins, sorry but fuck you Titan takes absolutely zero responsibility and could shut down services or change them at any time.  - https://www.titanbtc.com/terms-of-use/   The fact that the terms were written up like this shows this dudes character.  If you create a 2FA coin then you better keep up with the website and have a succession plan if you become incapacitated or die.  This is alone is enough to show why these coins should never have a 2FA characteristic like this.

I do not have anything to lose here, as I have never owned any of these 2FAs, but I'm going to do what I can to try and contact this guy and or figure out how to go about helping out/ obtaining legal council for the group.  I will post updates here.  Please come forward if you own any of these either in this thread or privately via DM if you care about getting your money back. I really hope no one is willing to let this slide..if you own any of these and don't want anyone knowing, maybe there is someone else you trust who could come forward on your behalf or something? Tim needs to be held accountable and working together is the best route to trying to solve all this.  Also I'm sure obtaining a lawyer won't be cheap, so the more people there are, the better that will be for everyone of course (If that's even the best way to approach this).

Do we have any idea at all how many were sold?  I know that he refused to release final mintages\addresses..which also is another red flag.

So please chime in if you can help, if you have any ideas, if you're a lawyer and can provide some assistance etc.  These may not be that big of a deal to some of the millionaires here who collect, but they certainly are for plenty of other people so please keep that in mind here.  The more who come forward the better it will be for everyone.  ( I'm sure a decent amount sold to hands who will never see this post..I'm hopeful we can get this fixed so when they go to redeem down the road to buy a car, or put a house payment down or whatever, that they'll be able so.  SMH.

I didn't realize he had a profile here... a neg left Jan 2019, and even one back in 2015.  Has anyone here, or know of anyone who's successfully redeemed a 2FA ever?

Appreciate the effort and work you put into this to try and help the community. I don't own any but of course I don't ever want anyone to ever lose because of something like this etc...So big props to you Chi for fighting the good fight here!

peeling them does no good if the site wont let you redeem them.

I believe he was referring to peeling the non 2FA/private key variety, but you're right in that peeling the 2FA variety won't do any good since the site won't allow redemption.

I agree with HK...thanks Ty....you are a jewel here my friend.

Appreciate it bud (and HK8..too lazy to copy your post atm lol) , I am just happy to help out and so fucking sick of this shit going on over and over.  The scam thread just keeps growing and growing...this Titan deal has made me rethink this hobby if I'm being honest.  Tired of it.  Even if Titan comes back and makes things right, this is still beyond fucked up to do to people. To many collectors these coins are a big part of their portfolio, and a loss like that can be pretty devastating.

Correct. When a coin maker starts showing sings of potential scamming, that's when it's time to go for me. It's not worth waiting to see what happens.

Oh no, the one day I don't check this forum 10x before noon is the day I wish I was here all day but please sell me all your non 2fa titan tenths for fair premium before you peel, they have been one of my favorite items since the 1st day I saw one. There has never been an issue with the non 2fa titans I have ever found after spending months/years now researching. And I know of a few that have been peeled and redeemed with no problems just to help you hodlers sleep at night haha

Bitcoin is a real life cheat code to gain financial freedom 😉 the future is going to be fun

that's not the point - The point is nobody knows if those NON-2FA private keys were really destroyed or not - Only Tim knows, and he could potentially sweep all your funds while your asleep like alitin did.... Huh

Am I missing something? Tongue
