You have a good point on this. If GGG by any chance will lose to Murata, do you think he can still attract good money that he's talking about? The likelihood of getting big money is if in case, he will beat Murata. Because the fans will either be rooting for GGG or Canelo, if both will emerge as winners in their respective fights before their match-up. We can't be too confident about GGG's possible win because Murata has also a good boxing record.
I think they can still attract good money even if GGG will lose to Murata since the fight is not just about GGG. Many fans also like to see Canelo and he will be the main reason why it will generate a big money. The anticipated GGG vs Canelo III is a much-awaited boxing scene regardless of what will be the result of their respective fight, GGG against Murata and Canelo against Bivol. Do some people here really think that Murata will win against GGG? What if Murata won by Decision but it's clear that GGG is the winner? A Knock Out win is the only convincing method for people to see that Murata is a winner.

I ain't really bothered that an instances like that will happen, but we will also watch closely to it because they're also human being meant to have a mistake. Aside from that, Murata is really nothing compared to GGG. He doesn't have any advantage aside from his age and that he will fight in his own soil.

If the fight is close the hometown decision could become a big factor, but this is Golovkin he doesn't go for the decision he always goes for a stoppage, he will grind you and expose your weakness and once expose he will hit those weaknesses, that is why he and Canelo are made for each other they know how to size up their opponents and exploit their weaknesses and stop them in later rounds, both fighters are not in a hurry they don't look for knock out they wait for it to come.

We will never know though, we still have to wait and see if judges are going to be fair. So the only way to control the outcome is for GGG to score a sensational KO.

Murata might not hold a candle to GGG, however this does not make him nothing. Murata has enough grit to face this out, and may even be lucky enough to win. Especially if you look at past fights like against Brant and Butler. During his last fight, Murata's 64 power punches were the second most connected by a middleweight in a single round. Thats powerful. So I would not underestimate Murata just yet.

Oh dear, I wasn't informed that Murata himself has been robbed after he successfully dropped his opponent but the decision didn't favored him. Well, if that's the case I think he played fair and accepted the decision even if it was unfair and I have still no doubts that these Japanese people will do that but as the WBA is also taking a close look after every fight after that incident. That seems like a bit of a overstatement. Murata might not hold a candle to GGG, however this does not make him nothing. Murata has enough grit to face this out, and may even be lucky enough to win. No, it wasn't but sorry if it translates that way because GGG is on a different league compared to Murata. I'm not saying that the latter doesn't stand a chance at all but his chances are not that big either.

Yes and the thread for GGG vs Murata have come up for almost 40 pages already, that's one of the sure signs that this fight is anticipated by many people around the world and especially now that GGG can have another chance to dance with Canelo for the 3rd time, the only thing left is to defeat Murata by a KO so there could be no more doubt at him again. I also hope that this fight will be fair and fun, 4 more days to go until we can watch the Big Drama in Saitama, Japan.

The best boxer who fighting not only became a greatest boxer at the time of he retired. He will also used as the new coach to their country.Only the sports person had this capability to do work after his/her retirement. Not even a big shots do this. After earning billions, the businessman take rest.So I love all the sportsman and so it’s called as sportsman spirit.
Not sure if the following would be opt here but would like to share it. Yah I too have seen the top players (irrespective of any sports) as a coach or a mentor when they turn old. Even the governments give chances to be on the respective sports main board to discuss, support and etc. Their inputs are valued. At times they even start up their own sports foundations where young players are trained and grown up. Players make players. Their sacrifice and dedication must be awarded constantly. You are right mate. The former players will have bigger chances to develop better coaching skills and train new great players. Sir Alex Ferguson was one great example. He was the top football goalscorer, and then worked as a coach, and later on procced to his managerial career. I guess players will definitely end up training new players at the end of the day.

@Distinctin. The promoters might give GGG his trilogy against Canelo only if he gets the victory versus Murata dominantly and convincingly. I am quite certain Canelo will not agree with GGG on anything if GGG wins with a close decision against the Japanese fighter. I reckon it might be a close decision because GGG is old. He will be 40 years old on the day of the fight. Murata is also taller with a reach advantage of 2 inches and he is also younger. The fight will also be in Japan. I will not be shocked if the corrupt judges will give this a split decision for Murata.
Wow, the truth is that I had not thought about that, but you make very interesting points, apart from GGG's age and the difference with Murata, I think that Murata has a slight advantage and it is the so-called "irreverence", perhaps due to the fact of being more I don't have much respect for the experience or the "history or trajectory" of GGG, but I particularly tend to analyze many things and the effect that age has on the sport, and sometimes age has a great influence on being somewhat slower and having more limitations, but this influences a lot in soccer or in a sport where you have to run a lot, but in boxing maybe not, because by keeping the muscles active, the performance can be better or maybe more forceful, I hope that the trilogy will take place , GGG needs it, it would also be an excellent way to close his career with a good winning streak, Murata may take more experience and his career becomes more interesting.

Not just GGG who have to win his fight but also Canelo, and both of them has the chance to be getting upset in their respective fights. We can read more about that in the thread made to them "Canelo vs Bivol". I can't really believe that GGG's age is already a disadvantage to him because he's just fighting a 4 years younger Murata and that doesn't mean that the latter is younger then it's automatic that he has the advantage. I think we forgot their background and experience, GGG in age of 36 has achieved and defeated better and stronger opponents than what Murata had of his age now. A boxer or athlete can be slower as their age grows but that process can be slower if the boxer has been continuously active throughout those years.

Well sometimes experience will play along the way, so we will see how GGG's will affect him or not. Hopefully he will still have the body to beat Murata and then we proceed to the GGG vs Canelo because that will be the biggest fight of 2022. Murata will have this so called home court but it doesn't matter if GGG will defy his age and show that he is still in great shape. So it's a road trip again for GGG, and for sure everyone here is excited to see who will win this fight.

At first when there's no news that Canelo and GGG will have their trilogy, I might say that this fight is a regular anticipated one just because GGG is also fighting but when the news came out that Canelo and him will have a trilogy. The fight becomes more interesting because we know that GGG has been calling this for years and now that he had the agreement, all he left to do is beat Murata so that the trilogy will become into reality. For sure, there's a lot of people that will watch this fight.

But first fans and boxing pundits alike will have to see if GGG, even at his age can still pull the trigger. And this will be a big test for him. Murata is also a good champion so this fight is really going to be a war. Murata wanted to derail the fight of GGG against Alvarez and then GGG need to show something that h has a chance against Canelo but beating a tough fighter in Murata.

Both Canelo and GGG have to upset their each respective opponents, this is a battle of champions before the trilogy will come into reality. Murata will do his best to defeat GGG as that will be the key to open his doors in this industry for more future fights. While GGG also needs this ticket for the upcoming trilogy with Canelo and Murata is a hinder that he needs to surpass with flying colors so that those doubts at him that he's already slowing down because of his age will stop for good and show that can still dance well with the prime Canelo.

Murata only lasted 9 rounds and he can already barely fight on the 7th round and only managed to defend himself even if his defense is breaking bit by bit because GGG is really looking to knock him down and produce a KO victory. GGG still have those capabilities we discussed, he proved it today against the Japanese boxer! Murata's camp threw a towel when he knocked down and ended the fight with a TKO.

GGG has shown his power - no doubt he is more powerful that Murata. Earlier I though since Murata is young he has amazing speed so he can win - undercard proved me wrong.

I'm with others here that this thread might lead to a mess. Kind of not convenient for me to participate in specific boxing matches where the thread is full of different discussions. We will see Casimero vs Butler, Donaire vs Gaballo, Crawford vs Porter, GGG vs Murata, Ippo vs Martinez lol, and even exhibition matches that are out of the context of the real boxing in the same thread. There are lots of boxing events and that requires different analyzations and speculations. We are not having any problems with that kind of setup so I think we better stick with it.
Instead, better this thread will serve as a compilation of upcoming boxing events, or just a pure betting discussion with only a few general discussions just like the setup of NBA general thread and NBA betting thread, although it's not really necessary to have that one in boxing as in basketball, almost every day has a game.
You have written it well. Murata barely fight after 7th round. Although the fight lasted for 9 rounds but we have seen Murata was unable to stand hi. Now the undercard is over we look fwd for the final round.

GGG has shown his power - no doubt he is more powerful that Murata. Earlier I though since Murata is young he has amazing speed so he can win - undercard proved me wrong. Murata was able to punch GGG lots of times during the early rounds. He can keep up with GGG or maybe, the latter just testing Murata and gives those early rounds for him. Later on in the fight, GGG now shows his destructive power and Murata can't do something about it. In the end, GGG got the 9th round TKO. His camp concedes at the 9th round and accepts that GGG is too much for their Murata. That's how powerful GGG is even at 40 years old. I just don't know if he can show the same strength once he face a much younger Canelo in September.
