^^ There's no question that HE Turki Alalshikh is willing to do that, shell out big money. They even mentioned that they are going to create somewhat of a big boxing league and potentially buy out the governing bodies and established like a UFC type of boxing events so that they can have total control and no one can duck anyone and we could be watching the fights that we wanted to see specially fighters are in their prime. So the ball will be on Spence, if he offered that money that he can't refused to fight Ennis in the Middle East for the 147 lbs belt. But obviously, the bigger fish for Ennis is Crawford as he is the undisputed champion but Ennis will have to wait. Crawford is still the man to beat and I doubt that in his last showing Ennis could win against Bud.

Time is running out for Ennis though, Crawford and Spence might go for a rematch at 154 lbs. It might be a win-win for Ennis as the 147 lbs belt are going to be open for everyone and there could be fighters from 140 lbs that will move up in weight.

As for the Saudi here is a good link to read: Turki Alalshikh Proposes Terence Crawford Vs. Jaron “Boots” Ennis At 154.

Quote
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has confirmed on X that he wants to make the fight between Terence Crawford and Jaron ”Boots’ Ennis at 154 “soon.”

And I think Ennis though will take this opportunity even it will be at 154 lbs. But really depends on how Crawford will react, I mean he could have his mind set on the rematch with Spence. But if we know that if the Saudi is involved, there is no problem with the money here.

I thought though that the proposal is Spence vs Ennis and not Crawford, but obviously I'm wrong here.

When money talks, they'll follow. So, if Crawford wants some good money, he should fight Ennis. Spence is no longer a popular boxer after losing to Crawford. He still needs to come back with a big win and maybe more fights before he can have a rematch or at least a big fight. Promoters are just trying to ensure some good profit here since they are paying big money for the boxers, so their plan should be followed as they are the capitalists of the fight.

Eventually, if Spence can come back strong, we might see a rematch between Crawford and Spence, which would be better than Crawford/Spence vs. Ennis, to be honest.

That's true they are after the money as they'll going to offer decent amount of paycheck for both fighters, if things materialized surely fans and gamblers will bite it and throw money for the fight, a win-win for both camps and the promoters side, though the decision will be on the side of Crawford since he's the one in top side and like what you said Spence after losing he's name is not on that same level of Crawford, though still going to depend from how fans will react and how the promoters will sell this news and earn support.

Crawford is not known to be a good PPV draw, so I guess it's his opportunity to grab the offer as the purse money is already ensured. It's not the US anymore, and we know that all or most of the big fights held in this country are really successful, and boxers are paid well. There's no reason for Crawford not to say yes, as he is at the top now, which means he can fight anyone, as long as the price is right.

And this boxers are demanding huge money, like Crawford, and even his manager Bob Arum says the Crawford is not a draw. But lately though with the involvement of the Saudi, which I think is just a experiment for them, it turns out to be a big success.

Now moving 2024, they have a lot of potential fights in the line, and would love to see Crawford going into Middle East as well as a crowd drawer and be paid handsomely like what he wanted. We will see him in August though for a 154 lbs fight and most likely as the Saudi said, if they will want to have him, Ennis will have to adjust and make the fight at Super Welterweight which I think he can make that weight easy.

What can you say about Junto Nakatani calling his fellow Japanese for a fight at 122 lbs?

Quote
“I would like to unify the titles or move up to [122] to win the championship there,” he said. “The fight with [Naoya] Inoue is the one I really want. A lot of people are really expecting this fight. I will continue to get stronger and will be ready for that fight.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/junto-nakatani-targets-bantamweight-unification-calls-out-naoya-inoue--184934

He just knockout Vincent Astrolabio in round 1 with a body punch. So easy work for him and it's a embarrassment for Astrolabio who promise to bring the belt in the Philippines. It will be very attractive fight if Nakatani moves to 122 lbs and fight the Monster.

Or unify that 118 lbs belt, against Naoya's brother or the other Japanese champion in this division.

Nakatani is also a top pound for pound fighter so if this fight gets made it will be huge, especially if he is able to beat Naoya’s brother. There is also Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez in these lower classes, who would be an excellent opponent for Nakatani and Inoue. Any combination of those matchups would bring a lot of attention to those smaller weights. Inoue seems ready to move up, but depending on how feasible it is to make fights against Nakatani or Bam, he might be convinced to stay a while longer at super bantamweight.

Indeed, and besides he's no longer getting any younger taking this offer if there's  formal notice would the best chance for him to make decent amount of profits, win or lose the takeaways is near to huge money that he can take, like what you said he's not good with PPV so taking this offer from a middle east venue would really give him more wealth, a good advance savings when he already decides to quit and retire his gloves.

Yeah, it will be good for Nakatani to chase Naoya's brother first to unified the belt at 118 lbs before he goes with Naoya himself. With Jesse, he is the one who needs to go out in weight to fight Nakatani, so yeah, another good fight in the horizon for us boxing fans.  So there's a lot of good fight in the lower division, from 115 lbs to 118 lbs but it is clearly dominated by the Japanese boxers right now.

It might be hard to chase Inoue though as he has plans to move up to 126 lbs at the end of the year. But if he target his brother and then Nakatani beat him, then it could be a good story line for Junto Nakatani as we might have a angle of Naoya Inoue getting revenge for his brother. Same what motivates Nonito Donaire to beat Darchy back then as Darchy beat his brother and Nonito taking revenge and knocking out Darchy and it was the break out fight for Nonito.

It might be better for Nakatani to unify first the bantamweight division. Let's look at the champions:

a. Takuma Inoue - WBA
b. Ryosuke Nishida - IBF
c. Yoshiki Takei - WBO

So that is already a big company, and so he had to beat some of his fellow Japanese fighters first because he gets to the top dog of the Japanese boxers. With that, I do agree if he will go for Takuma and get his WBA belt as a start.

Reports are surfacing that Errol Spence vs Sebastian Fundora is cancelled, or it will be rescheduled or a later date, depends on the source. But the reason given is that Errol Spence is not  fit to fight? Not sure what does it mean though, but it seems that Errol is not ready or at least mentally he is not yet over with the lost against Crawford? That is a bad sign if he says that he is a true champion.

But in any case, we do hope that Spence can fulfill his fight against Fundora. Sebastian give us a good fight against Tim Tszyu and it's right that he got the chance to fight the best at 154 lbs, either Spence or Crawford or any of the champions.

Not good for him if the reason is his mental preparedness, I guess if he wants to regain that statue after that loss against Crawford then he needs to start working out and fight whoever that can gain him another chance to bring his name up, I do hope that the fight will be schedule and give him that time to start working with both mental and physical so he can be fit when the time come.

Let see what will be the update about this news and see if Spence will take this as challenge he's still young and can still make money out from this sport.

Some boxers cannot really come back after a painful defeat, and it's especially tough for him as he was once undefeated but lost to a champion in a unification match. I think the same thing happened to Keith Thurman, as his career after losing to Pacquiao wasn't the same anymore, and he hasn't fought for over two years already. For Spence, I hope he can still come back, as this is a good chance for him to redeem himself. It's a championship fight, so he should grab it.

Nakatani is great fighter in his class, he is like Inoue who can unify the titles and also manage to become an undefeated boxer so moving up in class might be one of the best options to achieve better success.
It just that it will never be easy, it would be better to persist for some time and improve things slowly, when Nakatani is truly ready then it could be the right time to move up and fight other fighters in the higher classes.
Of the three fighters you mentioned, I sure Takuma Inoue and Yoshiki Takei will be worthy opponents for Nakatani in the future, they will both show fierce fighting and I sure it won't be easy to finish faster or knockout.
After all, of course he will have this desire, to be able to achieve greater success in the future, the Nakatani era has just begun and he must really defend what he has got and pursue what he wants.

Yes, you are right, there are many good boxers who can't comeback after a devastating lost. Just like the example that you put up, Keith Thurman, who trashtalk Manny before the fight but can't even back it up as Manny won the fight in a close fight and he was knockdown. And then the boxing media storm against Keith for not beating a old Manny Pacquiao back then.

Another case is the worst one, when Manny beat Ricky Hatton in just two rounds and was knockout cold. He even stay longer in the canvass for 10 minutes, as compare to his two rounds with the legendary boxer. So this might be the case for Spence right now and he really needs to be mentally prepared before fighting Fundora as the stakes are high. So it's better for him to still take some time off, but he needs to comeback if he wants to be a champion again.

@Jating. You cannot compare Pacman and these other boxers on mental strength. If you read the hardships that Pacman has experienced as a small child and a teenager, we can be quite certain that many people who would experience a similar experience would give up already and will grow older poor and hopeless.

On Spence, this is a similar experience as Devin Haney. I reckon the both of them might need a psychiatrist to help them to defeat their mental opponents hehehe. Pacman however, does not need this. If his body has maintained strength, he would not retire.

Oh yes, before we forget, one of them is Devin Haney who seems can't accept his big L against Ryan Garcia and most likely he should seek mental help as well. Probably this is one sport that just one big lost, it will be over for some boxers.

And you are right, and that what separate the elite boxers, like Manny Pacquiao who comes from hardship to other great to good fighters. But when their back is against the wall or have taken a lost in their career, most of them can't come back and as if their career is define already with that one lost in their resume.

Speaking of Nakatani, Top Rank announces co-promotional deal with WBC champ Junto Nakatani. So it looks like he is following Inoue's path here, to work with Top Rank and then maybe he will get what he wishes for. Fight Naoya Inoue or if he is not yet available, maybe a unification fight with Takuma Inoue. So this is a good move by him and his handler to be able to have co-promotional deal with Bob Arum. And who knows, maybe he can travel to the USA and show his talent there instead of just fighting inside Japan. The Japanese is clearly dominating the lower division now, but it will be really interested for boxing fans if they are going to USA to defend their belts.

It might also be how he grew up and it appears that Pacman was very much loved by his mother and she might have also taught him good values despite living in poverty in his younger age.

I reckon he might be the only boxer who has 8 losses and the fans and promoters are very much interested in his fights hehehe. Other boxers cannot have this type of popularity with 8 losses.

@Jating. You cannot compare Pacman and these other boxers on mental strength. If you read the hardships that Pacman has experienced as a small child and a teenager, we can be quite certain that many people who would experience a similar experience would give up already and will grow older poor and hopeless.

That's what really makes Pacquiao special, it is not not how many losses he has throughout his career, it's how he bring fight fans all together and see his fights and root for him. And the charisma, not everyone has it, but Manny has that factor as well.

We have seen the likes of Floyd, undefeated, but still he might declared himself the best boxer, but there are some boxing experts who put Manny ahead of him in terms of greatness and accomplishment even if Floyd has 0 losses in his career.

And did you know that Manny is rank then number 1 Asian athlete by ESPN in the 21th century?
