I have no problem with creating a thread like this, but for me, I want a dedicated discussion on a particular boxing match so we can dwell on the strength and weaknesses of each fighter and give hints or tips for those who like to bet on that particular fight, the flow of discussion will always be on-topic about one particular match.

You are absolutely right, I would like to start betting on boxing matches perhaps I might get lucky in it.. getting some tips and predictions here would be really helpful.. there are a lot of people who aren't really familiar with the strength of the fighters,  we would love a well detailed analytical prediction so we can start betting on it..

It's not an issue anymore as we also have some dedicated threads for specific fights. It's up to us to decide if we want to create one, but I've seen members who actively create threads once a fight is announced. We can consider this a general discussion thread, and I think it has served its purpose well.

I think boxing is quite better to bet on because they don't go on long breaks like  soccer games, waiting for a season to resume is very exhausting
That depends on the kind of sport you love. Personally, I love basketball more than boxing, but from time to time, I also bet on boxing. However, the excitement is much lower compared to when I'm betting on basketball, especially in the NBA.

I am presently watching Luis Alberto Lopez vs. Angelo Leo for the world IBF featherweight division championship. The champion is Lopez from Mexico and anyone who is watching this can be quite certain that if Inoue can increase his weight for this division, he can certainly win against Lopez hehehe.

I predict that next year, Inoue will leave super bantamweight and begin unifying the championships of featherweight with the last fight of the unification against Brandon Figueroa in Las Vegas heheheheheh.

Lopez has had some very good wins and was looking like the guy who would get the opportunity against Inoue. Unfortunately, he has always been careless with his defense and tonight he got knocked out cold. That payday against Inoue has vanished and that is perhaps why he was in tears in his locker room after the fight.

With his style, I thought that he might give Inoue a problem if ever they fought. However, he is reckless against Angelo Leo, maybe he is too confident. However, he was caught with that great left hook and was knockout.

And this is what he said,

Quote
“That left hook, we’ve been practicing all camp, for four or five months,” Leo said. “I’ve been practicing it, not just in the gym, but in my room, in front of the mirror. I just kept throwing that left hook, and it paid off in the 10th round.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/fresh-from-fight-angelo-leo-says-i-want-fight-all-champions--185333

Featherweight is a stacked division. There are around a dozen fighters who would all be considered credible opponents for Inoue. If he can become undisputed, it will elevate his legacy even further. It will not be an easy task because these fighters have size and power that he is not used to.

Yes, that's why every boxing fans are excited to see Inoue jumping on this weight class next year as the caliber of boxers here are better as compare to lets say 118-122 lbs.

Quote
“I want to fight all the champions,” Leo said. “Whether it be Rafael Espinoza for a unification bout, Naoya Inoue – whoever it may be.”

So it's going to be interesting featherweight division for next year.

Yeah, I love that idea, and as you have said, there are a lot of boxing fans here and although we have this dedicated thread, we sometimes see members creating a thread for a specific fight specially if it is big.

But if we wanted to talk everything about boxing, then we have this thread, or if there are fights that no one opens a specific thread, then we can all discussed it here. And if I'm not mistaken, even the boxing in the Olympics was somewhat discussed it although we have a dedicated thread for 2024 Summer Olympics thread. As for betting in boxing, yeah, but there are fights that ML is not that appealing to bet.

And we have a new IBF featherweight champion, Angelo Leo knocks the lights out of Alberto Lopez. Knockout of the year would you agree? Unfortunately, Lopez doesn't want to play defense and this cost his belt as that left hook really clip him for good. And he might might be the same again after this knockout, he has the talent but if you are fighting these kind of fighters, with power, you should at least put your hands up and not disrespect the power of your opponent.

Yeah, it was reported that Inoue will go up and so he will have to deal with this kind of fighters, bigger and more power and has chin and maybe this set of featherweight can hold and measure very well on Inoue's power. Hopefully, once Inoue goes up to 126 lbs, I want him to test himself against Leo here and see if he can pass this boxer with power, and hand speed and chin as well.

I am not quite certain why there are people who view Alberto Lopez is a good boxer. If Inoue fought him, we can be quite and very much certain that he will be sleeping on the stretcher before round 6 hehehehe. He does not have much head movement, his footwork is not very good and his punches are not very powerful. There are also headshaking articles written that Lopez has similar power to Prince Naseem Hamed. I reckon these article writers are very much similar to scam ICO shills that hype and trick many people to buy the token hehehehehehh.

When there are 4 or more champions per weight class, not every champion is going to be a future hall of famer. Lopez won the title in Josh Warrington’s backyard and defended it against Conlan in Belfast. He is at least good enough to beat some good UK fighters on their own turf.

The average Inoue opponent gets knocked out in less than 6. Inoue is clearly on a different level than everybody else in the sport and very few even stand a chance against him.

I have not seen the comparison to Naseem Hamed, but there is a lot of clickbait out there that is not worth paying attention to. Lopez is good enough to compete against the best in the division, outside of Inoue if he moves up, but with his reckless style, his championship reign was not going to last very long.

It's not official, WBO stripped Crawford of his welterweight belt and relegated Brian Norman to full champion,

Quote
The World Boxing Organization on Monday announced that new four-division champion Terence Crawford has vacated his welterweight belt in order to fight as a junior middleweight, elevating Brian Norman Jr. to full WBO welterweight titleholder.

https://www.boxingscene.com/crawford-exits-147-norman-new-wbo-champ--185365

So it's good news to boxing fans, at least it will open up a lot of opportunities for us to see the organization having fights for the belt. Although in their organizations this is their rank boxers and some of  this name might not be familiar to us,

1. Shakhram Giyasov
2. Jin Sasaki
3. Karen Chukhadzhian
4. Souleymane Cissokho
5. David Papot

But I guess there is no hostage of the belt by Crawford although he still holds the next 3 belts. However, with this move, I do not think that Crawford will stay at 147 lbs.

Naseem and Lopez comparison? Nah, not even close I think Prince Naseem is more brandish and flamboyant and really very athletic and he uses it as his defense. As compare to Venado Lopez who is really open and trying to be a Floyd wannabee with his shoulder roll, but he is not that fast to cover his chin. And it just a matter of time when he faces a fighter with speed and power like Leo and then that timing left hook to end the fight. Josh Warrington has been in a lot of wars, his body is showing wear and tear when Lopez faces him. Conlan is not even a top 10 fighter to me.

Yeah, Terrence Crawford will be moving up on his next fight against Vergil Ortiz, at least that is what his excellency Turki Alalshikh had promised that he will make this fight happen. With his years numbered, i do think that Crawford will take this one even though he will be the slight underdog as Ortiz is comfortable fighting in the 154lbs division.

Would love to see Vergil Ortiz vs Bud Crawford for unification fight at 154 lbs. Crawford if I'm not mistaken was under contract by HE Turki Alalshikh and so with other fighters. So it's going to be very easy to make this fight.

But I think Crawford will still be the slight favorite here, he is still going to be the A-side despite his last performance and Ortiz showing against Bohachuk. Just interesting to note though that once the centerpiece of boxing the 147 lbs seems to be not as hot as it used to be because the champions are not that well known to boxing fans. And the last name we have is Crawford and Spence.

He will be staying at super welterweight now, so it's good for Crawford. And I think he has no competition at welterweight already, he has done it, unified all the belts when he beat Spence. Although Ennis seems to be the name that keeps popping up, Crawford said that he won't fight Ennis because he is not that well known or simply there might not be enough fans to buy that fight.

Also the super welterweight has a lot of good names, and with his excellency Turki Alalshikh involvement, we might see great fights in this division. It could start with Crawford vs Ortiz, or Crawford vs Fundora. So it's going to be very interesting division in the next couple of years and the thing is that almost all of this fighters are in their primes. So they will start to carve out their legacies.

But I guess there is no hostage of the belt by Crawford although he still holds the next 3 belts. However, with this move, I do not think that Crawford will stay at 147 lbs.

On their primes and really aiming to bring their names on top, great timing to attract both fans and gamblers, with good and entertaining offers for sure money will flow for these types of upcoming offers we just need to wait for camps to work on and sign a deal after that we will hear schedules that fans are waiting to see those known names inside the ring fighting against one another.

Right, with the entrance of Saudi's Alalshikh, the whole boxing scenario has really shift as we have seen great fights being fostered by the power broker. And as least for us fans we appreciate the way he put up his cards.

Unlike other boxing promoters wherein only the main event is worth to watch. And we have seen in the Ortiz vs Bohachuk, they produces knockout of the year and possible fight of the year. And with that, 154 lbs is going to be the center piece now, and if Spence is going to official move up in this division then it's going to be stack up and each fight is worth our money paying them in PPV or even in live gates.

Crawford has earned it, he is currently at the peak of his glory with several championship titles and of course in every fight always shows that Crawford is the favorite.
For the future I think it would be very interesting if we really see Crawford fight Vergil Ortiz because he is pretty great boxer and currently has record of 22 fights with 22 wins and has 100% KO ratio.
We can watch Crawford vs Vergil Ortiz as one of the best fights for Crawford because Ortiz is boxer who might be able to make Crawford feel how fight is quite difficult for him to win.
But in this fight if we can really see it then I still pretty sure to make Crawford the favorite.

I mean the welterweight should be the center of attention for boxing as it has a solid history before, we have seen great boxers in the welterweight including Manny Pacquiao and Floyd and there were times like Thurman is dominating their division with great names like PR's Garcia, then Porter and then Spence and Crawford. And now who do we have as a champion? Barrios?? Ennis?? Brian Norman??? elevated to WBO full champion.

But now the prime fighters of super welterweight seems to be the new division that is getting the attention of boxing fans. And again, his excellency Turki Alalshikh is trying to bring the best fight in this division and this might be the start that the 154 lbs could be the much talk about weight class and no longer 147 lbs.

^^ It is because the welterweight division was dominated by only names: Bud Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. During their range, maybe there are a quite few fighters in that weight class. Shawn Porter was on his way out, Danny Garcia has difficulty making the weight, Thurman is injured and was not the same anymore when he comes back. Manny is obviously not in his prime anymore.

So probably it has something to do with the lack of talent thereof and fighters moving up in weight or retiring. But just imagine if in their primes the two of them have Manny, Floyd Mayweather, Victor Ortiz or Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley. I don't think that either Crawford or Spence that dominant in that era.

In any others, there are reports that Devin Haney is making a comeback as per social media, or it because there are videos of him and some random guy being involved in a scuffle,

https://x.com/BBK_4x/status/1824359786986524725

In any case, who do you guys think that Haney should fought in his comeback fight?

For me I would love to see him and Teo Lopez going against each other for the unification fight, WBC/WBO in the line.

And for sure it will attracts the interest of fans and gamblers who loves to see great fights, if both camps agrees then we will see schedules and updates from fighters who will allow fans watching them, his excellency can bring them as money is not a problem and venue can caters big names and for sure behind that there are big names who are also involves in gambling and this kind of setup will bring more interest for sure in this sport.

Speaking of His Excellency, it was reported that the fight between Crawford vs Madrimov was a sell out, and that all tickets has been sold. However, news surface that it's not the case,

Quote
According to a Department of Consumer Affairs and California State Athletic Commission document reviewed by BoxingScene, nearly 4,000 tickets were given away for the blockbuster event, Alalshikh’s first in the United States.

A total of 3,935 tickets to the 21,799-capacity show were categorized as “exempt,” meaning that 18.1 percent of available seats may have been filled but were not purchased. Organizers gave away $500 seats at the highest rate, with 1,116 of those 3,449 available tickets (32.4 percent) going out as freebies.

So there are lot of tickets that have been given, in other sports it is called complimentary tickets if I'm not mistaken. So this tickets is given to the family of the boxers and whoever they want to give it to.

In any case, this is not the first time though to hear it and won't be the last, although it could mean that the tickets is not totally sold as contrary and maybe it could have been a break-even payout for power broker Turki Alalshikh.

I'm not saying that it was bad promotion or something, but if you are in the business of making money, this does not look very good.

^^ That has been the practice in boxing though if I'm not mistaken, there are a lot of free tickets being given to the boxers and promoters and they will hand it out to close friends and families. But it doesn't mean that the fight is not successful or if the live gates are really sold out. Even high profile fights like the Crawford vs Spence, there are a lot of tickets that has been given.

For me it's not fair to judge that fight as not sold out or something. Still depends on the money that HE Turki Alalshikh is willing to shell out and win (or lose) at the end of the business day. But I would agree that the tickets given though is very high, it could be just less than 1000. However, it could be that many are really asking for free tickets and so they have to increased the numbers.

We know that Canelo will have a fight against Berlanga, but there is one boxer as well that has been mentioned maybe to be the next challenger if ever Canelo win against Berlanga in September and that is Christian Mbilli.

He is rated in all of the divisions if I''m not mistaken. I'm trying to hype his name as he won today against a very tough opponent in Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Scores where 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. And if you watch the fight, it's obvious that Mbili will win but you can't take anything from Sergiy as he fought with a torn biceps. But there are moments though in the fight that Mbili has some illegal blows, rabbit punch and was not deducted points although it might not change the outcome of the fight.
