1. His girlfriend has the right to demand an amount because he stole something from her that he later on used it for gambling purposes and eventually being lucky to win that huge prize. I don't think there's any problem with that. The only problem I can see with that side of story is that they will never gonna work again, as trust issues would be the main barricade to pursue their relationship.

2. Well, here's something most of the people don't understand why that community sided with the boss. I've made a quick search about that specific apprenticeship, and found out that Alaba is a huge electronic market in Nigeria. Bosses were the one who pays most of the apprentice's expenses such as food, lodging, etc for them to do their job well and become successful eventually.
So, in this story, the boss might've taught the apprentice used his money to gamble, and that what made me understand where the boss is coming from.

The win you get because it starts from your boyfriend's money that you stole, and your girlfriend deserves a share of your winnings. And I think 40 million for your boyfriend out of the 100 million wins you got I think he deserves it maybe if it weren't for your girlfriend money you wouldn't have gotten that big of a win though maybe because it was a lucky day and you worked hard to get it too, still your boyfriend's money plays a part in all of that.

Is there such a boss, and he does not deserve it. Because the victory is obtained from your own capital and hard work without the intervention of the boss and if you want to share the victory, just buy something for him with the reason to want to share. And if your boss still wants to get some of your winnings, you better quit your apprenticeship and look elsewhere and also enjoy your wins wisely.

I have no opinion for the first story as it is a personal matter and the guy stole the money so I never agree with stealing despite that because of this stealing he won 100 million.

For the second though I have one and it is that the boss does not deserve anything as the money that the guy bet was his own,he should not have told them or maybe if they knew because it was made public they surely do not deserve 50% of the winnings,that is a plain wrong movement I see in this story.If I won that big amount and my boss asked me,of course I would have not given him because usually the boss do not give us anything extra,he pay us as much dollars as for we to not leave the job and not a single dollar more.

For the first, maybe 50 million is a fair amount because he used his 10k and didn't say anything to his girlfriend and when he won 100 million, he only returned 10k to his girlfriend. It was natural for his girlfriend to be angry because she seemed to know that her boyfriend had won 100 million. But if his girlfriend doesn't tell him the amount of his winnings and just returns the 10k right away, maybe his girlfriend won't be mad.

Second, I will abandon my training by giving 1 million naira to my boss because the money used for the apprenticeship belongs to him. His boss should be grateful that he had the 1 million naira fully given to him and not demand to ask for half the winnings. But yeah, humans are greedy

$1m would be a reasonable amount to give her in my opinion Because after all, it was her money with which he won a big sum of money.

I'm assuming the person has borrowed money from his boss and there would be a deal between them that if they win, they will split the money into two parts. else he will repay the boss's money. If that is the case, then surely Boss is entitled to half the money.

I will return the amount I owe back to the girl and also God knows I don't bring what I do to air how will she even know I wish such money from gambling. If I had lost in the first place, I'll receive abusive rains all over my head.
It's a wrong thing for the lady to dictate for what she must take from the boy, but she should be happy just if he gets touched to give her more than that.

I read the full story on OP and if I were the man, I would just let her leave me and continue to boost my business using the amount I've won. A girlfriend like that is a red flag if you're looking for a lifetime relationship. She's just your girlfriend, you're not yet obliged to give him a portion of your winnings if she asked to. You paid what you borrowed so you have nothing to owe her anymore.

If I were the apprentice, I would also do the same as the 1st story, I would abandon my training and leave that dojo. You don't owe anything financially to your boss. As long as you don't have debt to him and paid properly those training courses then you don't need to split the money. A small amount that you're willing to give that will serve as a consolation for your experience there is already enough to give to your boss.

basically these two cases have a motive with the same problem. the first and second stories, are very closely related to greed.

OK, let's go over one by one.
for the first case, the most basic fault of the man is stealing. whatever the reason, like it or not, he has to share the profits with his girlfriend.  because after all, without the money he stole earlier. he will get nothing.
Worse, if he loses the gamble with the stolen money, he will most likely not return it, arguing that they have a special bond as a couple. however, it seems that in this case greed pervades the two so the relationship between them is at stake.

the second story, this case is difficult for me to conclude.
not much information that can be extracted here as a consideration or assessment for me personally.
which is part of my focus on this case, why and what motivated the boss to ask for half of the win. this could be a wild opinion, in this story, we don't have much more accurate information. however, if I consider briefly. the boss had no right to claim the luck of his apprentice.

back to the focus of the problems of the two stories.
Basically, greed pervades the minds of the people involved in this story, so that they want to claim something that doesn't belong to them.

Actually the boy shouldn't be in any delima as he is to make his choice between money and his girlfriend. If he really love her then why don't he give her the 40M,to continue his relationship and moreover it was her money he used that brought him the fortune. In case he prefers money to love then let him let go of her and enjoy his 100M alone.

He is cruel to just return back the 10K he stole without adding any compensation for stealing. At the point where he stole it he had no idea what his girlfriend intended to use that money for. By stealing the money he has forced her to forfeit what she wanted to do for his benefit as a result of that I think she deserves more than the 10K, but at the same time the girlfriend should not demand a specific amount considering that it may sound as a sense of entitlement, but something more than 10k.

If I have been long in the apprenticeship and I am apprenticing for something freely that could earn me good money in the future and my boss has been really nice providing my needs the while I have been there, I can consider splitting it to assist him as compensation for catering for me and accepting me as an apprentice who didn't pay him.

Stealing is stealing and the result will not justify it. He stole money from his girlfriend that that's a form of being dishonest. As for me, the girlfriend has the right to demand because that was her money and she actually deserves more. She's a victim and it will be unfair if he will just returns that 10K as if nothing happens. He seems like a user.

The boss has the authority to do that because of his position but he should still be considerate and show compassion to his apprentice. They both deserve a good win and splitting it wouldn't be a good idea.

I guess there's no point in talking about what would we do in a similar situation... We are all different, and in moments of shock (I believe it's shocking when you win some big amounts like the first story) we react differently. The best outcome would be for them to get married and live a happy life without worrying about money ever again if there's some true love! But how to story leads us to think this money brought some problems on the surface...

The second story is about stealing... but in reading comments from the link I see there are some "unspoken" rules between "master and apprentice"! Like in the 15th century! But who am I to judge if that is some tradition there and people there are ok with that:

I think the boyfriend was ungrateful. I mean, he was ablebto make that win or take that bet because of the girlfriends financial capability. Not like the girlfriend has a right to demand whatever, after all, there was no agreement to what ever ratio in the possibility of a win. Am very sure if it were to be a lose, the girlfriend would not want to discount on what would have been expected of expected of for a refund. I think a 10% or at most 20% of the win would be appropriate. Returning the funds just as it was don't seem fair.

In story 2
It depends largely on the sort of apprenticeship. I say this because I'm yet to go though the provided link but given that it's me taking the risk and with my money, I get to decide what to give to my boss. At most, I leave if we can't reach an accord but, its definitely not going to be 50:50. It doesn't make sense!

In the first situation, the guy has to give the girl back the 10,000 and thank her depending on his generosity. In the second situation, you can just tell the boss to go fuck himself. If a bet was subsequently placed with the girlfriend's money, she is also entitled to the winnings. That is why I do not understand why the woman does not sue for the full amount. Of course the $40m is a high amount, but with the right lawyers, one should try to get the whole $100m.

In a later settlement, you could always settle for half the amount. So why start with $40m? That doesn't make sense to me.

She could actually sue his boyfriend for stealing the money. She has all the right to demand because his boyfriend wouldn't win such an amount without her money. If he'll seek advice from a lawyer, she'll surely get an answer of having the whole funds including the profit. The boyfriend should know his place and should pay accountable for what he did because if he won't get his lesson, he'll surely do the same thing to the poor girlfriend again.

The money should be split into two equals halves and shared to settle the case. Without her money, her boyfriend would not have won that amount, and without the boyfriend's knowledge and him playing that game with her money, the money would have remained 10,000. So, it is a 50-50 case and if the matter is settled in court, that should be the verdict.

I couldn't stop laughing at the amazing reply of people even on the forum. I love my people because  you can't be on this forum and be bored.
Firstly from the story I didn't think the guy stole her money because she forgot the money on the guys shelf, no as if the guy took it from her bag or went to her her, secondly the guy wasn't greedy to hide the goodnews but rather shared the story with her, which I guess was out of love. And remember he also admitted to taking the money when she asked of it which he would have possibly denied.
He also offered to give her five million naira which a tangible reason of investing the other money in his business which possibly would belong to them both if they get married.
I feel that lady is really greedy and I see no reason why the guy should be having a second thought of letting her go.
My question is "WHAT IF HE LOST THE GAME AND COULDN'T AFFORD TO REFUND HER THE MONEY?"


And for the second story, i really don't know why the market community sided the boss but I don't really think the sharing formula is right
