for the first question:
if i were that guy i would still give $40 million to his girlfriend. because first the man had wrongly stole his girlfriend's money for gambling and the man could win $100 million because of the help of his girlfriend's money even though it was stealing but without the stolen money the man would not win at gambling and take home $100 million. let's just say that $40 million is an apology gift for stealing his money to gamble
It make sense that the guy won't win if he hasn't stole his girlfriend's money. The girlfriend could act as the victim because it was her money that was stolen.

But luckily, the guy had won a lot and for sure there won't be pursuing for any sue because of the act and she just wants a hefty amount of share from that win.

It's on the guy now if he'll realize the situation that he's in. Well, because of the money that he's got, that will make him think untouchable and he can just dump his girlfriend if that's his way of thinking but hopefully not.

~snip~
First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

In the first case, it's pretty clear to me he has to give her the same amount he took, $10k. If he instead of betting and winning would have bought something else, she would have asked for the $10k. So what he did with the money is irrelevant. Also, the fact that the money originally was hers also doesn't matter. If you take a $10k loan from the bank you only pay back the $10k (plus any fees, interest, etc). What you do with the money is irrelevant to the lender. So, if he wants to be nice, he could give her, say, $20k. That's a 100% ROI for her.

In the second case, I would probably have left. I wouldn't want to stay in that environment. Actually I would have left in both cases, the girlfriend and the boss sound like horrible people.

How the hell can this employee be a person who doesn't think? with that amount of money he didn't even need this job anymore, he could create his own business, how old is this employee? Just reading this story makes me angry, I can't even imagine if I saw this employee, I would tell him that luck like the one he had doesn't appear twice and that he needs to take all his money to save and open a business

The 2nd story isn't just an employee - employer relationship.  There is more than that.  It is the practice of one tribe where a person become apprentice and his boss supply the basic needs of the person.  It is also agreed that the apprentice is not allowed to own anything.  It is something like, slave - master relationship where the master has the right to all the asset of the slave.   This is actually unacceptable for us but it is what it is in their culture.

These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

Well, reading this I thought what if the person had lost the 10K bet, then from where would he return her money? His girlfriend would have killed him? Isn't?

He took too much risk in the first place and he was lucky to win the bet. Now we can understand the frustration and greediness of the Girlfriend.
You can argue that asking 40% of the money is immoral but then was stealing the girlfriend's money was morally good  Huh

The guy doesn't owe this girl anything except $10,000, which he stole from her. If I were her, I would stop communicating with a man who steals money altogether. But most likely she is mercenary and the money can turn her blind eye to her boyfriend's illegal actions. I think their story will end when the guy runs out of money, and he will run out quickly if he's already gambling with other people's money.
$10k is a big amount already and the guy steals it without the girl knowing it and what if the guy lose it all? Do you think he can be able to pay that easily? No I don't think so, that is why the girl has the rights to demand that high. If not then the girl can take this case in the court just like some of the users in this thread said. All person can change so why not give this guy a second chance?

And I don't think he will ever steal money again judging on the amount that he won. It will take him ages to spend that all. What about the second story? Won't you give your own argument with it? But for me, the player there was lucky that his boss is kind and only demands 50 percent. Some boss will demand more than that. I won't think twice anymore but I'll share the winnings immediately before my boss change his mind.

I feel like in story one, I would feel guilty and give some money to her. At least like %25. Maybe even %50 if I really feel passion and love her. Considering my own girlfriend.
In second story I really can't understand how boss can claim money like that. It feels like thievery to me. I would never split that money because it totally belongs to me. I got that money through labor and through wages. Boss has no legal say on it, he has no emotional contribution.

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

Here, of course, the guy did not act honestly towards his girlfriend and could just share his winnings of 100 million naira ($231,481) because he used someone else's money without the consent of the owner, so she demands 40 million naira, which is still noble on her part.

Well, with regard to the second story, if the bet concerns the topic on which the guy receives training from his boss, then in principle he won thanks to the knowledge he received from him and another nuance is that in case of refusal to share the winnings, the student may simply lose the place of study, so here he is in double dependence.

I would love to  comment on this because this is a clear story of complete greediness and not trusted person, Imagine stealing His Girls money just to gamble? and then after winning just giving back the capital he stole?

If the girlfriend can prove that he stole her money? maybe brining him into court and maybe penalizing him for Stealing will be the best way.

What reckless steps do gamblers take for the sake of betting for the dream of a big jackpot.

These two stories seem funny if you are not a participant in them. But once you have a vested interest, it all turns into a real drama.

If we consider Story 1, would the girlfriend also demand to share the losses (40% based on the requirement of 40 million) between two if her boyfriend lost the borrowed $ 10k? I am sure that she would have demanded from her boyfriend the full amount to fully compensate her. So, I'm not sure that she has every moral right to demand 40 million. In general, this whole story is a little absurd and seems to be a fiction that no dreamer will come up with: he took money without asking, made a bet and became a millionaire. The owner of the money demands a part of the winnings, although there were no contractual obligations and the money taken from her was returned in full. Nonsense.

This tells us how live itself is not balanced, the two stories where actually the opposite of each other, frombthe first one, the gambler stole from his girlfriend and yet cheated her by not showing appreciation, such gambler could bebso desperate for anything, the second one got oppressed by the boss just because of being an apprentice, that isn't fare enough as well, should everyone continue to behave in like manners then this world entirely will be so terrible for a living, everyone stepping on each other to make it forcefully, such an oppression is kicked against for a good living and i will rather be careful with my steps from people found in such regards.

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense if he just gave away the capital he stole while he stole it from his own girlfriend. If I were his girlfriend, I would take him to court on charges of stealing money and using it to gamble so that he has to pay for my losses both materially and morally Grin

Maybe he didn't come up with a better excuse and tell him honestly that he stole the girl's money for a gamble, so the girl got angry and demanded he gives her more money.

Both stories already have an element of greed there, the girlfriend is greedy and the boss is also so greedy.

The first story in betting betting, I take the point here.
Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet.
the guy shouldn't return more than $10k, if it's true that the money he stole belonged to his girlfriend, he should have returned it without his girlfriend knowing, so the guy doesn't have to pay his girlfriend up to $40k, that's ridiculous, luckily he won the bet, try the money he stole belonging to his girlfriend and lose, of course the story is also different, the demands are in detention, because the man committed the theft.

In my opinion, the student does not need to be afraid and obey his boss, gambling is personal, besides the money he uses is internship money, as far as I know the apprentice is personal money that must be prepared for learning or training programs, the boss has no right to regulate personal, the disciple did not need to hear the boss.

If the student wins 16 million naira gambling, if he wants to give it to the boss, it is personal voluntary, there is no compulsion for that, that's my opinion.

These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

The essence of the first story teaches us the meaning of honesty. Her boyfriend was angry because the man took money by stealing, I think anyone would be angry if the most trusted person did such a disgraceful act.
About his girlfriend demanding 40 million dollars is too much in my opinion, there is no need for him to make that claim because the culprit is his male friend.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

*Read the different opinions of people here
I respect him as a boss, but not for the share of the winnings I get. I didn't give anything to the boss because I used my own money to bet. I don't care if he's angry or not, my status as an apprentice there, I can find a job elsewhere if he don't accept me in his place.

In the second story the boss, burning with jealousy and unable to do anything, asked him for money Unreasonably. Apprentice should have told him directly that he is not a financial partner. But there is nothing to learn from that kind of teacher. Can he teach who has no morals? That place should be abandoned as soon as possible.

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

In the first case, it is only fair to give the girlfriend an amount that she demands regardless if the money is just miniscule or not. It's a matter of principle, you stole someone's money for one, and invested it in a very risky venture that has more chances of ever failing than you winning. So at the end of the day it's only fair she gets the 40 million dollars, the 10k capital isn't yours anyways.

For the second scenario, I would promptly nope the heck out of that partnership regardless if he's become a valuable mentor to me or not. The fact that the mentor, has in no way aided the apprentice towards the 16 million naira and is promptly demanding a 50-50 split just because is a big no-no for me.

For the first case, I want to present a thought experiment.

If he loses the money, the girlfriend would ask for $10K.

If he buys something with the money, like a car, etc, the girlfriend would ask for $10k.

I don't see a reason why, other than greed, the girlfriend would ask for more than $10k if what he bought got appreciated to millions.

For example, if you get a loan for $10k and earn millions with it, you only pay back $10k (plus interest, which could apply here as well).

Both did it wrongly, the guy took and stole the money from her girlfriend. While the girlfriend takes advantage of what he did and is really asking that much.
Both of them can simply be happy without demanding each other a lot and enjoy the money altogether happily. But because of such demands, that made the gap for both of them.

Even myself as a boyfriend or the man itself would really be changing up my views into my girlfriend where you could really have those thoughts that shes really that too greedy on asking that much.
Yes, its her money had been used but she dont have the rights on asking on her part since no one knows if he would be lucky enough into that time on making bets.
Stealing 10k is a huge thing which i do understand on girls side but asking that huge partition or part is never been a good sight.
You are just proving that you are greedy and doesnt mind off about in between relationship.

She's a gold digger.
If they really are partners in life, they should consider the best thing for both of them. But she's only thinking about herself and doesn't want to let it pass off the mistake of his boyfriend which is also a bad thing.
Weighing things into this situation will depend on both parties and how they're going to address things like what they're facing. Well, it's both win for them as they've got huge money.

Sure, the girl exhibits greediness the moment he want his guy to give her a 40% share of his winnings. As a partner, you shouldn't demand like that when you didn't work for it in the first place. You just have to wait and see if your partner will recognize and appreciate you. After all, if they want to give you a portion of his blessings, they will do so, wholeheartedly. It's not something you force and oblige them to do for you.

However, the guys has his fair share of fault too. Him getting the money with no permission is a big red flag as well. If something is not yours, you shouldn't get your hands on it. Otherwise. you are disrespecting the owner, Which in this case is his girlfriend. I believe this couple lack in communication. Or perhaps they already outgrew each other but just don't want to break up because of convenience. Because clearly, respect isn't shown in their relationship given their attitude towards each other: the guy stealing his girlfriend's money and the girl demanding unreasonable amount to his boyfriend.
