Only the guy in the first scenario is warranted ro pay for the money he was able to fork from another person. To top it all off he literally stole this money to bet which in itself is a problem worthy of another discussion. So by all means and matters the guy is supposed to pay the girlfriend not only for the 10k he stole to bet and win, but for a good portion of his winnings too. The second guy's master is a real dicj if I do say so myself. Especially if the apprenticeship doesn't even involve any form of gambling technicque imparting or lesson-teaching, then he most definitely did not deserve to get a piece of the pie and accept that fact, not to be so indignant and so pompous about how he helped the kid win when there's really no involvement of him in the whole ordeal.

The reason is, in this thread there is no more detailed explanation regarding the boss' claim to the intern. in fact, we cannot draw conclusions based solely on a very short story. it is possible that the boss of the apprentice, had a big hand in the winnings obtained from the gambling won by the apprentice. notwithstanding, that the money at stake was purely that of the apprentice. however, because this story is short and does not provide detailed information.

I couldn't agree more. Many questions will be raised up quickly because the story is too short and it's hard to give an opinion as there's so many elements lacking just like what you've said. The whole context will change if there's any words that will be added in the story, so same here, I cannot really judge about who is at fault. Is it the boss or the apprentice? OP should've shared more details regarding the 2nd story.

You are right on which it is really that hard to make out some suggestions or comments on a situation which it isnt really totally been pointed out on how the heck that boss is really that obliged to get some part of
his employees winning? If we do just simply talk about ethical things then you arent that obliged to get a portion of it even if you are the boss, its none of your business on what are the things that your employee
is dealing with.Even his your boss but you dont have the rights on asking up something which he do owns unless if he do owe some debt or loans then it is really just right to ask for that but
asking for some partition of winning is just really that no sense.

The reason is, the link that Op shared in the second story was lifted from someone's tweet. what we know, that twitter can only write limitedly. so, there is no information that we can get in more detail. automatically our assessment will never be objective, because if we refer to this story it could involve the sentimental side of the tweet writer who made this news viral.

after all, we cannot verify the legitimacy of the news source. I'm sure the Op just wants to know the respondents from our members in the community. and on the other hand, I guess Op is a pretty smart guy when it comes to creating threads. I think he wants to see various responses from members that involve a psychological side. at least, that's what I caught that way from the Op thread side.

So in essence, the essence of this story. not on the gambling, but what about when money gets involved the people who are involved in the drama of these two stories. and how, when greed involves lovers, the boss and his apprentice. I think the point is like that. even so, if my assumption is different from most people. please understand.

You cant really judge a person on how they would be reacting or something that would be talking or speaking about huge winnings or money.Majority would really be changing up along the way specially if it does involved

As you mention money issues can be a very delicate topic and depending on the personality of the person in question there could be a way to save the situation or not, however since the boyfriend stole from the girlfriend, lied about his profits, gave only the bare minimum back and then she found the truth, then it is a given that the situation is impossible to repair now by having a conversation and most likely it will require the services of lawyers to determine how the money should be distributed.

In a bank loan you have to return the money no matter what, in a business investment you get exposure to the same risk the company goes. They are different things.

because sometimes people who are apprentices in a business company, people who are apprentices are too close to their bosses like their own brothers. there are many cases of apprentices in companies who are very close to their superiors when there is anything they help each other.
So, from that case, most likely as I said, the boss dared to ask for a 50/50 share of the winnings of the gamble. Even though the boss can't be like that, like being impolite and having no morals but if the two of them are close then the boss doesn't even think about morals.

Well, your boss or your teacher is not taking care of you and other students; they are only thinking of your salary or the pay you'll be giving. Sadly, this is really the truth, as some people are doing this because they are only after money. You, as a student, should be aware of this since you are also the one giving salary on this, so you should leave immediately. This kind of people should not be rendering their job as it is unfair to all of us

In reality, it's possible to build closeness between apprentice and the boss. However it doesn't mean the boss earned a right to demand a share for his apprentice's winning just because they're close. In this story, people sided with the boss, isn't it strange? Probably if this situation happened to us, we will not share (or atleast hesitate) our winnings to our boss since we won it alone and if worse happened the boss won't shoulder your losses right? Thus it's unfair.

Anyone will get greedy looking money. The same has happened with the boss. He had tried to use his power to take a portion of the winning from the apprentice. This is completely unfair, but people will stand in favour of the boss as they believe in getting granted for the support. Yeah in my opinion also, that girl friend deserved more than 50% share as the whole betting money was belonging to her and only the knowledge and actions were from the boyfriend side. Even stealing seems like a wired part here, in some culture, that money is common for both of them as they are into a relationship either legally or not. So, we may leave off that stealing part.

Because, if that betting came to the knowledge of girlfriend before placed; I am sure she should not have allowed to place at first hand; only men could take that kind of brave decision and that boyfriend took that bet for all 10k because that was not his money (fully or partially or by any tradition). So, I guess that stealing got big role in that case but needs to be forget when sharing the profits. Really a peculiar case!

Personally, I think that people who love each other should trust each other completely and not hide anything from each other.

This guy was very lucky to win a lot of money, and he could have lost all of it. None of us know where that would have led. But if the girl had told him that he had stolen money from her, he probably would have ended up in jail.
