Do you mean Spence will stake his belts for the rematch with Thurman if he loses here? What will be forced is, Spence will risks his belt at 147 and might possibly face Crawford although as I said previously, there might not a chance now to see Spence fighting at 147 due to some problems.

I mean that's not possible since if the rematch will happened with Thurman, it will still be in 154 and his titles are all in 147.

I don't know though the rules of what will happen if let's say, Spence will ask for a rematch with Thurman and if he's still eligible to do that without vacating all his titles at 147. I think that's a rare case to happen or I just missed some same scenario in boxing history.

What I think is that we might see a different scenario once Thurman is able to defeat Spence at 154, there's a strong chance that the latter will ask for a rematch but since a rematch clause wasn't written on their contract (I suppose), Thurman has the choice to decline the offer if there's no belts at risks. And if a rematch won't materialize, Spence has two choices, first is he will vacate his belts at 147 and second is that he will defend his belt at 147 with a risk of facing the boxers he ducked. And this time, I think that their influence won't be used even if they wanted to because the WBC is already under criticism because of this fight.

If I will be on the shoes of Keith Thurman, I certainly wouldn't give Errol Spence a chance of a rematch in-case if I win especially if there are no belts on the line as it will be a total waste of time and preparations will be redundant. Thurman knew that he has to chase the right people in-order to grab the belts but considering Spence's behavior after he got the 3-belts, it's somehow convincing enough that he won't be giving the belts easily.

Might be, but they are under the same promotional company in PBC, so there is a good chance that they are going to be a rematch if Spence losses to Thurman. Of course, Thurman might get the bigger share or at least 50/50 split in the rematch.

However, not sure if Thurman will allow this happen, maybe if he was caught by a lucky punch and then go down and knockout. But if the score went to judges scorecard, maybe they will give Spence the benefit as he is one of the cash cow right now.

Yes, there's a chance it could happen and there's a chance that it wouldn't because Al Haymon no matter how powerful he is now in the industry, he still cannot force Thurman to fight Spence again for a rematch. Just to be clear though, even if it is mandatory, these boxers may or may not follow the organization. There are a lot of instances already in the past, just like Spence fight, he should be fighting his mandatory but he was allowed to pick Thurman here.

It's always been money if the fight is going to be delayed, unless either one of them has back out of the fight and doesn't want it anymore. But I do agree that Spence should get the lion share here. The finalization of the deal is taking too long.  There are already some boxing news sites getting a doubt whether the fight will happen or not.  It was also stated that it is almost a year of idleness for Errol Spence and thinking that the sanctioning body should make its move to either get serious in mandating mandatory fights for Errol Spence or stripped him of the title since he is holding the title for too long without defending it. 

This site[1] even asked why Spence isn't stripped of his title yet.

Why isn’t Spence being stripped? Spence has been holding his three welterweight titles hostage for the last eleven months, and it’s going to look silly if the sanctioning bodies don’t strip him soon. The aging Spence can’t keep those belts as a permanent lifetime champion without defending them.

I don't think so As I observe the attitude of Spence he is trying to play with us, spence and team will afraid of losing so that when spence have a chance of fighting stronger than him or strong enough they will refuse or let say they have many excuses and I think once the team Spence find a not strong fighter and they think that it's an easy win for spence then for sure he is going to fight. Now that Spence could potentially fight a real fighter who gave Pacman a tough challenge, I don't believe that he will easily beat Thurman. Thurman was once a champion and is coming back to reclaim his spot, so it will be a tough fight for Spence. I hope Spence does not make excuses this time around. Although it's a non-title fight as far as I know, he still has nothing to lose.

That's really not possible. WBC president gave Spence this kind of advantage where he could have a mandatory fight and bring it to 154 for a reason because there's a twist on it, in-order to make the Crawford vs Spence unification fight, Spence should make this happen first and deal with Thurman. But since we have no clues here about this bout, it is indeed safe to assume that there will be no unification fight or even Spence-Thurman fight.

I agree with @stadus, Spence is way beyond the line and already gave the industry a bad image just because he wanted to secure the belts without fighting any boxers that are tougher than him. And there's this Al Haymon who is backing Spence to have his way.

Yes, I ain't going to be worked up about that rumor because I've heard some rumors as well that a unification fight is reportedly under works, hence why this fight of Spence vs Thurman has no recent news but when I searched it to confirm those rumors, none of it can be found online. So, it's still safe to say that a unification between Spence and Crawford is not happening and about this bout, it seems that it's not happening as well.

But honestly, a part of me really wanted to hear those rumors into reality because as an avid fan of boxing just like you guys, we asked for this fight long enough already and patiently waiting for the time to come by even if right now, it sounds like too good to be true.

Aren't these two boxers negotiating for eternity?  It was already many years about these rumors of Crawford and Spence negotiating their fight but still no solid result.  I wonder if they are really negotiating.  I think this rumors is spread so that people will get interested and hyped but actually there is really no talk happening. If there is a negotiation happening then at least some data will be leaked like the possible time, place or year.  But nothing was leaked.. yes?  And as far as I know Spence camp is avoiding Crawford, and other calls it politics just to cover the ducking.

I think it all goes down to the right amount for split.  If they agreed on the reward money, then the fight will be finalized.  So for the fight between Crawford and Spence to happen, someone has to sacrifice his purse.
