We can never be certain, as many of us expect Inoue to easily beat Fulton, but Fulton is the champion and will not give up easily. Inoue's injury gives Fulton more time to prepare, but if the delay is too long, it's possible that Fulton may move up in weight and the fight may not happen at all.
This is definitely disappointing, while the fight being postponed is better than being canceled this is just the first reaction, Fulton will probably want to know as soon as possible when the fight could take place as he cannot simply wait for Inoue to recover if the recovery time is too long, and at the same time it is possible that depending on how serious is the injury of Inoue and how much time he needs to stay away from the ring his camp will want a tune up fight before he faces Futon, and in that case the possibility the fight does not happen at all is in fact high. I think Fulton already calm his fans and says that he will still wait for Inoue and push this fight to happen in Japan. Definitely it's a setup on his part as he is training hard for this one specially that he is the underdog. But he won't lose anything yet, he is still the champion. It will be bad if he decided to go up in weight and not fight Inoue because he has to wait for too long. As others think, he could go for a tune up fight, choose a boxer that has less risk so that he will not have that ring rust.

Alright, some news stated that Naoya Inoue suffers a "hand injury" during sparring.
I'm curious about what happened though, does it happen while Inoue is in a sparring session or while doing his usual punching bag routine? Maybe too much pumped even at practice? Or if it's on sparring, maybe Inoue really showed seriousness even for that.
Here we go again with a long period of speculation because of the postponement. Almost just 2 months left waiting for this clash and we end up hanging on to our excitement because of the unfortunate thing that happened on Inoue. If there's no fresh news or progress for about weeks, I'll consider locking this thread.

Besides, the deal was already settled. The contract has been officially inked. Everything is already in place. No need to change plans or not follow the contract since it's in the first place, the fight will just be moved on to another date to give way for Inoue's recovery period. It will be a disaster if Fulton will not follow the original contract where in fact, the postponement is not intentional. If at some point Inoue again suffers a problem on the rescheduled date, that's the time Fulton can now consider changing his plan as the boxing organization itself will not push their fight if another problem happened on the same side, which is Inoue.

We don't know for sure if Fulton's camp will continue to wait or there's alternative plan while waiting for the recovery of Inoue.. But like what you have said the contract was signed and the injury is not intentional best to wait for the reschedule date while continue doing the routine trainings and practices. It will happen if both camps will agree and will continue the talk while waiting for the schedule date t come.

Really unfortunate that the fight will be postponed when everything is 100% ready and just waiting for the big day.
Fulton will now have to wait until Inoue is now fit to fight. Of course, we also want them to both be at 100% on the day of the fight.
Regarding, summer in Japan, the period was from June to September. I wonder what injury Inoue suffers during his training that needs several months to recover from and for the rehabilitation process.
It is disappointing for the fans who were eagerly anticipating this fight. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about Inoue's injury, but we are hopeful that this fight will still happen later this year. Inoue has a bad history of postponed fights, as his scheduled fight against Casimero has yet to take place. It's been promised that the fight are going to happen still, Inoue just have to wait for his injuries to heal. And it seems that Fulton is ok with the cancellation, I mean as you have said, no don't want things like this to happen to any boxer specially if they have a fight, but we don't have control of it. No one would want a player to get injured, but sometimes things happen and injuries cannot be prevented. It's better to postpone or cancel the event instead of forcing it to happen despite the injury, which could result in a boring fight and Inoue making excuses for his loss. For the Casimero fight, it's not the fault of Inoue though, it was Casimero who has issues with his weight twice. And he was given by the body a second time against Butler but the same case happens. So if there is someone that we need to blame for the fight not happening between Casimero and Inoue, it will be John Riel's fault 100%.
There was no weigh-in for the Inoue vs. Casimero fight because the fight was postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic. After the cancellation, Casimero won fights and met the weight requirement for his subsequent fights. The issue with Butler was different, as it came later. Maybe I'm not clear, Casimero still has his chance to fight Inoue only if he won the fight against Butler. But the Butler fight didn't happen because of the weight issues on Casimero. So if he just make the weight on the scheduled first fight and win, maybe we have seen the Casimero vs Inoue already. However, even in the rescheduled fight, he still missed the weight or was caught still trying to lose weight in sauna by the BBBoC, hence the fight with Butler was cancelled and he was replaced by another Filipino who lost to Butler. And so the Butler vs Inoue happen, and if by chance Casimero made the weight in the second fight, he should be the one facing Inoue. So still boils down to Casimero not making the said weight that deter the fight happening between him and Inoue.

That was supposed to be the best undisputed fight if Casimero had been able to meet the weigh-in requirements. I think his team was unaware that they were violating the rules, so it's not that he didn't make the weight requirement - he was disqualified, which gave Butler the opportunity to get the belt against a weaker opponent. However, we all witnessed the kind of quality Butler has as a boxer. He is not on the level of Inoue and Casimero yet.

If Casimero didn't get any problem on the restrictions on that fight for sure Butler cannot get those belt. And also maybe for that we see the fight between Inoue vs Casimero to happen. But that is past already and fans need to move on since Inoue vs Casimero will be listed on history as fans requested fight but never happen. Now we since Inoue will fight Fulton we can still enjoy watching how Inoue could possibly dominate him and get another miles stone on his career.

Nevertheless, time is running out for Casimero, Inoue is hurt and so this fight is postponed. So Casimero might wait for another full year to have a chance against Inoue and he needs to win more in 122 lbs as well.

As much as I am saddened by the postponement of this big fight, I do understand the need for it. Rather than hide the injury like Pacman did in the Mayweather fight and Lomachenko in the Lopez fight, I like that Inoue and his team were straightforward with the public and move this fight to another schedule. There is no need to be extra brave in spite of suffering injuries because that deprived the public of seeing them fight healthy and leaves no excuses behind. Not saying Pacman and Loma made excuses for their defeats but upon knowing what really happened already we knew that their fights would've been different if they were 100% healthy. Maybe there is no need to lock this thread unless Fulton rejects the idea of moving this fight to a new date.

I agree, it's better for them to come clean early and announced that Inoue is not 100% right now and that he is injured and cancel this fight because he doesn't want to fight when he is suffering from something. We need him at his best against Fulton because he is the challenger here and this is the fight time that he will be climbing up and fighting at super bantamweight. Just interesting to hear though what is the injury of Inoue because I can't find any article about it.

I got a feeling it will soon and Fulton won't cancel this because he also wanted this fight in the first place.

I believe it was the opposite thing where John Riel Casimero didn't missed an opportunity to have a supposed match-up with Naoya Inoue because even if let's say Casimero wasn't found cheating from the rule book and managed to defeat Paul Butler, Casimero will again face the fact that he's already too heavy for the bantamweight division and it might give him struggles again in the next weigh-in that will probably be a reason why an undisputed fight will not happen. Before that, we are not even sure that Casimero will pass the weigh-in against Butler.

There was a possibility that Casimero would fail to make the required weight, which is why he violated the rules. He was too desperate to make weight. However, both Inoue and Casimero have moved up now, and there is a chance they will meet again. Casimero needs to ensure that he improves his ranking so he can become the top challenger for Inoue once Inoue becomes a champion.

But it seems that their promoter doesn't want to gamble the clean record of their fighter so they jump to other opponent. But if Casimero will get another belt maybe Inoue cannot escape and can make this fight happen. For now Casimero need to spend more efforts to get big fights so that he may have a belt to bet on this possible match up.

They haven't met in the bantamweight division, so they need to take action in the super bantamweight. I think that's what the fans are asking for. They want to see if Casimero is really at par with Inoue since he was trash-talking Inoue when he was still the champion. Casimero has been quiet nowadays, maybe because he is no longer a champion, so he needs to start winning fights to get a chance to face Inoue in a championship fight. As a fan, I would to see that happen as the other side of me believe that Casimero could upset Inoue.

Inoue's camp seems avoiding Casimero because if they want to make this fight to happen then they will mot create any drama and let this fight happen. That should be Casimero's goal now. They haven't met in the bantamweight division, so they need to take action in the super bantamweight. I think that's what the fans are asking for. They want to see if Casimero is really at par with Inoue since he was trash-talking Inoue when he was still the champion. As a fan, I would to see that happen as the other side of me believe that Casimero could upset Inoue. Maybe Casimero is planning is next move, he needs to fight a solid rank player in the super bantamweight because he will get a chance to crack Inoue. Nevertheless, we just hope that the fight will Fulton will move, yeah, Fulton said that he is ok for the fight to be rescheduled, but we really don't know if it can be done in the near future. What if he himself was injured as well? So everything is not certain until we hear the bell in the first round, IMHO.

We cannot really blame them if that's what they wanted, after all, Inoue is a precious cash cow to Bob Arum and therefore he cannot really afford to see Inoue depreciate its value if in-case he is defeated. Anyway, there was once a supposed fight between the two of them but because of Covid-19, it wasn't pushed through. Now that they are both in the same division again, I hope their path will cross once again because people are already rooting for this to happen.

Its like Casimero was been sabotage for on that match that's why the fight between Butler and him has been off.
As much as we don't like what happened to Casimero during that time, they are really the ones to blame for why the fight against Butler didn't happen. Can't believe they are not aware of the British boxing council's guidelines. Even if that rule is not present at other countries' boxing jurisdictions, rules are rules. Maybe Casimero is planning is next move, he needs to fight a solid rank player in the super bantamweight because he will get a chance to crack Inoue.
That's really the plan, however, Casimero's camp can't easily finalize a deal against a top-rank boxer because in the first place, no bearing if those top boxers will accept Casimero's deal. I remember they are pursuing Luis Nery after that Akaho win but currently, Nery does have its own interest. No choice but for Casimero to challenge first those boxers around his rank. It's a good start that coming from unranked, he was given a rank 8 by the WBC after winning against Akaho in his debut fight at 122.

One of the main reasons on why certain fights cant be pushed through is just because on mainly with their promoters which same as you said that Arum wont really be that dumb on what are the fights that he should arranged and whats not or shall be avoided. It is really that obvious that it is indeed a cashcow for Arum and he cant just afford that it would really easily depreciated. Being undefeated is something that a boxer cant easily be able to attain on which having these flawless stats do remain up its value. This is why it would really be just depending on what are the possible fights that would be arranged head on basing up on their plans.

If only Casimero just did the right thing, then we should already see him clashing with Inoue. It's not being Inoue being a cash cow and they didn't avoid Casimero. It's just that Casimero is the reason why he become out of the discussion. I don't think Inoue is afraid of Casimero and even though I'm with Quadro Alas here, I didn't expect that he will have an easy win against Inoue. More importantly, Casimero should not just pick top boxers but just negotiate a deal even with those below rankings just to have an active fight. As long as he keeps and continues winning, he will gain his rank and later on, will be included in the contender's discussion.
