There's this friend of mine who was into gambling. This guy was introduced to betting and got addicted to it for years, and at this level he has gone into virtual games. At some point, he could use all his money, borrow from others, and even use the one given to him by someone for important stuff. This went a long way for him, and his life was becoming miserable as time went on. But with the help of some punishment , self discipline and prayers, he was able to reduce it. And today he doesn't do virtual games. In all this, I noticed that there's this confidence he has that he will hit it big, if not today but one big day, and he will stop it with the money he will hit.
My question was, When is this big day? Yes, you might be lucky one day, but when is that? Is there a guarantee for it? How long will you continue to do this for the big day? It's better to stop today than regret it.

This one day I will hit it big is what really inspires most of them to go into gambling more and more, even when they have not been winning. They still keep on gambling with the hope that one day, if they win, they will be able to recover all that they have spent on gambling.
 
But one thing about this is that if they calculate all the money they have spent since the very first day they started gambling, they will notice that what they won from that one bet they might claim is big is just a small percentage of what they have spent in the past.

Well, lets not pretend, beat about the bush, but be totally honest with ourselves, our lucks are not the same, and there are definitely alot of gamblers out there who did actually got so lucky and this dream of theirs was actuallised in just a single winning, when we actually say stuffs just exactly the way you said it, without acknowledging the fact that the experience is not always the same for all gamblers, it turns out that what we are doing is passing or misinforming people.

Gambling have always been a game of luck, and those who are lucky will always shine, I know of a person who have actually spent years in gambling, and I can't also deny the fact that he has also possibly spent alot of money as well, but then, he won a bet last year, ans amount was above a hundred thousand dollars, converting this money to our local currency, it's a very huge sum, and I to be honest, I don't think that in all his years of gambling, he has spend up to 3 percent of the money he won.
Gambling be a source of blessing and breakthrough for people, and continual gambling without giving can sure sometimes pay off, but only if the gambler is lucky.

i agree gambling is a game of luck and is set to make the banker wins more than us, so it will depend on how lucky you are, and how will you control you're emotion when losing money, because if you can't control you're emotion its 100% you will lose.

This thread makes me think how many of the petty crimes we all see in news and in the newspapers are the result of people getting addicted to gambling. You know, the first thing which comes to my mind when I see those sad news on Television, is that those who are involved would be the victim of addiction to very harmful substances like Cocaine or Crack, because that is like the most obvious thing we could assume. But in reality, it could be also people who have gambled away most of their assets and since they have become addicted to it, they do not see any solution to their situation, besides stealing to further push their addiction to new levels of degeneracy.

In this thread we have learnt about people who were willing to kidnap their own family in order to continue to gamble, so I dont have any doubt in my mind about people going even further to please their insticts on gambling.  

Those kinds of stories are the ones used by the Muslim community as an example of way gambling can be dangerous, then in reality, we as adults are the only ones responsible for our habits, in the end.

There are a lot of crazy things that are done when someone is heavily addicted to gambling, they tend to take actions that carry big risks, but they can do it with confidence and don't see the huge risks for themselves, including for their future. I agree with you. It is not good to completely judge everyone that wants to big in gambling as addict or gambling madness. There are several reasons why people get high expectation in gambling pushing them to either bet for a long time or continuing gambling when they are supposed to quit. There's this friend of mine who was into gambling. This guy was introduced to betting and got addicted to it for years, and at this level he has gone into virtual games. At some point, he could use all his money, borrow from others, and even use the one given to him by someone for important stuff. This went a long way for him, and his life was becoming miserable as time went on. But with the help of some punishment , self discipline and prayers, he was able to reduce it. And today he doesn't do virtual games. In all this, I noticed that there's this confidence he has that he will hit it big, if not today but one big day, and he will stop it with the money he will hit.
My question was, When is this big day? Yes, you might be lucky one day, but when is that? Is there a guarantee for it? How long will you continue to do this for the big day? It's better to stop today than regret it.

This one day I will hit it big is what really inspires most of them to go into gambling more and more, even when they have not been winning. They still keep on gambling with the hope that one day, if they win, they will be able to recover all that they have spent on gambling.

i agree gambling is a game of luck and is set to make the banker wins more than us, so it will depend on how lucky you are, and how will you control you're emotion when losing money, because if you can't control you're emotion its 100% you will lose.

Winning the game is basically about patience and agility. Gambling can only be won through passion, greed, strategy etc. A person who gambles excessively for the sake of money and indulges in self-destructive emotions in the excitement of winning will face losses. You will notice that people with this type of approach are the ones who mostly face gambling losses.
