Injury time with 11 extra minutes added, South Africa gets a goal to go to make it 3-2 and if this remains like this.. South Africa will be going into the Knockout stage and the Italians just seem not to have an answer for all the goals coming their way and unless the dont score they are going home for sure..can they have the last say, only time will tell!

A defeat that was quite painful for Italy, they only needed a draw but the strong enthusiasm of the South African players they could not anticipate properly and it was a very interesting match until the last minute because both teams continued to fight to make things their own, and in In this group, Italy is one of the teams that is quite difficult to score goals because of their tendency to play defensively.
The matches in the other groups have ended and it's unfortunate that Brazil was eliminated after failing to win the last game against Jamaica. Brazil really dominated the match there were 18 shots and 8 on target but none of them were scored and there was almost no chance for Jamaica players to get into the Brazilian defense unfortunately all the opportunities Brazil had were wasted, it seems that Brazil did not expect that Jamaica would be able to discipline its defense area until the match ended which makes it really difficult for them to score goals.

The FIFA Women's World Cup Panama vs France match has already started. The game has started with a lot of hard-fought action between the two teams. France is leading by 2 goals. Panama is now leading by 1 goal. The first 2 minutes of the match are the first.  The goal was scored by M. Cox. Now to see how well Panama can perform in this match. Nigeria and Jamaica are doing the unexpected in this world cup. I like the development of other nations female team, they are lots of improvement. Every team are equal not as before where only senior member county's dominated, in the world cup, we have seen unexpected results, Japan beating Spain 4 nil ,Nigeria beating Australia 3-2 and Jamaica beating Brazil the title favourite makes the world more interesting.

Argentina Women's Team vs Sweden Women's Team Sweden won by two goals in today's match. With a win against Argentina, Sweden qualified for the knockout stage and Argentina women's team was eliminated from the knockout stage. Sweden are now selected for the knockout stage and their next match will be against USA. It is difficult to say which team will do better. Both teams have performed well.
South Africa and Italy played a fairly attacking game today. And Italy lost 3-2 with South Africa at the last minute. It was really unfortunate for Italy. South Africa put up enough of a fight to advance to the knockout stage and that fight was beaten by the Italy women's team.  Had Italy won today's match they would have been selected for the knock out stage but unfortunately they lost. On the other hand South Africa won the match and directly reached the knock out stage and their next game will start against Netherlands.

Are they really big teams or teams from big football nation? Because the performance of some of them were not what was expected from the country. In this women competition, it will not be exact to judge the women from these countries with the performance of the men in their country. The male team for some of the countries is way stronger that the female teams. All the countries that have qualified for the last 16 have deserved it, from Jamaica, Sweden, South Africa etc.

 The French women had a very good performance today against Panama, the opposition seem tough at the early stages of the match with an opener from Cox in 2mins, then the France team fought back and had an equaliser from Lakrar followed by two brilliant penalty goals from Diani followed by another goal from Garrec at the extra mins of the 1st half to end it with a 4-1 victory, then the France later started the 2nd half kick off with an opener from a penalty goal at the 52nd minute of the game, also the opposition team fought back had a penalty at the 62nd minutes scored by Pinzón and another goal by Cedeño making it 3goals.
 However the French woman where very dominant in the match and added another goal at the late mins of the match making it 6-3 and qualifying into the round of 16 at the first position in the group F table, France and Jamaica qualified from the group leaving Panama and Brazil out of the tournament, it came as a shock to me that the Brazilian women's team would be removed in just the early stages of the tournament, my expectations from them was very high and I felt they'll stay until the quarter finals or more, anyways it's football and anything is possible.

These Caribbean islands (especially Jamaica, Trinidad-Tobago and Barbados) do have good potential for football. And it is good to see Jamaica performing well in the women's world cup. The problem with Brazil is that they don't have a quality national league (both for men and the women). Their league (Campeonato Brasileiro Série A) lags behind the European leagues in terms of quality. And when it comes to women's cricket, the gap is just too huge. I wonder where the funding from FIFA is going. It is not being used very effectively by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol).

I did the same and even bet on Alex Morgan to score but it was a bust.
Portugal's defense was quite good because of the many chances USA got on the other hand, I also like the performance of Pereira and Portugal players who dare to play the ball more than USA in this match.
The second half could have gone Portugal's way if Ana Capeta's shot hadn't hit the bar but unfortunately it ended in a scoreless tie.
With this, the Netherlands are firmly at the top of Group E as they won easily against Vietnam.

It was really a shame for Portugal to leave the World Cup, despite having played well. But, they should have played more against Holland. If Portugal had played a match like the one they played against the USA, maybe now they would still be in the competition.

But, for a team that was at the Worlds for the first time, you just have to leave with pride, and keep working to progress even further.

Portugal ended up finishing third by one point but if they had played well in the first match against the Netherlands the result might have been different. But as you said, even though Portugal failed to continue in the competition because they failed in the group stage, they can still go home proud because they have shown their best.
Now maybe we'll just focus on the last 16. There are some interesting matches in my opinion, especially maybe for the Sweden vs USA match which I think is quite worth watching.
This will be another test for USA because of course we know how strong Sweden was in the group stage and it could be that if USA performs the same as in the group stage maybe it will be very difficult for them to qualify for the quarter-finals.

This world cup is replicating the same surprises we saw in Qatar. It was a wonderful display by the South African team. I never thought they will match the quality of the Italian side. I thought the first goal by the Italian will demoralize the Bayana Bayana, but I was wrong. They kept on fighting till they got the equalizer and scored the second and the winner in the extra timw. They deserve to win against a highly ranked side, Italy is ranked 16 and South Africa 54. South Africa has now joined Nigeria as two African teams that have qualified for the second round of the world cup.

The Jamaican goalkeeper put up some good saves but the Brazilian team had clear chances to win the game. Congratulations to the Jamaican team for a wonderful defensive display. They have a very hardworking team that ensured they marked effectively and limited the flow of balls to the attack of the Samba girls. This is another surprise game because Brazil in ranked 8th and Jamaica sits at 43rd position of FIFA rankings.

Let's hope they don't underrate Jamaica because Jamaica knows what's at stake and would be fighting real hard to get even a draw in that fixture at the minimum in order to qualify.

I didn't watch the match but I have seen that stats. Really insane game. Brazil gave it their all because they knew it was their only opportunity to make it to round of 16 but Reggae girlz had one and only one goal in mind going into the game and it was to hold down Brazil women as lomg as they could and it worked for them.

The moment Brazil lost that game to France last week, I knew it was going to be tough for them going into this game with Jamaica. Congratulations to Jamaica women. They obviously have to do better than their group stage results if they want to finish this tournament well.

This result was mainly interesting for the favorite teams of the competition which have passed the group's phase already, since they won't have to play against Brazil, which is considered a strong adversary on the following stages.

However, despite it being a master plan by Jamaica on strategical field, I fear they can't reach further following the same recipe, because even though they hold the next match defensively, the dispute will go for penalties, and then it's likely to be game over.

And for Brazil, now they will have to totally rely on a new generation of players to keep the team competitive without Marta.

Argentina female team is failing and their performance is poor and they are letting their fans down, they actually expect the best from them, watching their games you can predict that they will not go far, Sweden played well and I was actually impressed with their performance beating Argentina female team 2: 0 not even a chance for them to even score, Even if the second goal was a penalty, they gave it their all and deserve praise. Losing two games already demonstrates how serious Argentina's team is. Better luck next time, but because their male team won the World Cup, the record remains, which could explain why they are not putting in enough effort because they believe they do not need it now.

I tend to agree a little.  The hard part will be losing rose Lavelle for a game.  This one is going to be tough and then on the back end of it they could face Japan in the quarters.  They definately didn't do themselves any favors but they are still one of the teams to beat here.  My money is on them to pass through sweden.

I think its a little bit different than what happen in Qatar, I didn't see any of the teams that lots of people were having high hope on, led down in the first match only for them to qualify to knockout stage the way Argentina did, there femal counterpart were disqualified right in the group stage without winning a single match out of the 3, they were able to drew 1 which gave them 1 point. Portugal didn't impress me like their goat, South Korea and Morroco were disqualified as well, even when Morroco made good come back in the second match of the group stage but have last match against Colombia. If Colombia lose to them, the both of them will qualify to the knockout stage.

The Brazilian female team will have themselves to blame for wasting several clear opportunities to get at least a goal. The Jamaican goalkeeper put up some good saves but the Brazilian team had clear chances to win the game. Congratulations to the Jamaican team for a wonderful defensive display. Brazil had an incredible opening by finishing Panama with 4 goals to nill, who would have thought that they will be remove after the group stage, the next mistake they made was losing to France when they should have draw with the plenty of opportunities they had and the final worst they did was drewing with Jamaica that needed a single point to qualify to the knockout stage, they should learn there lesson from the mistake.
