Never doubted the Japanese to get the job done after their impressive games over Spain and Zambia, and I remember someone placing a 5000/1 bet on Japan to win the mens worldcup on sportsbet and unfortunately this didn't happen...suppose on the women's side it could happen especially  that most of the big names like Italy, Germany, Brazil etc have all been knocked out.

Anybody else backing Japan to win the worldcup   currently sitting at ~7 odds

Though this edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup tournament has been full of surprising results and eliminations of supposed big teams, I've never doubted the strength and capacity of the Japanese team.
Norway showed resilience in the game and also made a statement with their performance that they didn't get to this stage of the competition by chance, Japan still had their way against their Norwegian counterparts. I'll be very surprised not see Japan in the final of the competition

The Norwegian women's players worked hard but could never get the attack going. However, Japan showed a strong form here as they scored goals especially through counter attacks and after many attacks Japan women's team succeeded. The balance of the players of the two teams was correct until half time, but after the half time, the players of the Norwegian team could not make any special attacks. But the Japanese team made several complex attacks that the defense of the opposing Norwegian team could not resist. And the Japan team is quite strong as it proved against the Norway team.

Didnt expect that Spain would just destroy the Swiss team like this. Expected a close result but Spain is just a level above the Swiss team.

The Swiss time had not conceded any goal in the competition, so even if they were going to loose this game, no one would have expected it to be by very many goals and not conceding so early in the game. Spain dominated the game so much that even after the first mistake that led to an equalizer, they were still able to control the game and score back some minutes more later in the game. The Spanish women will be getting set to either face Netherlands or the South Africans that sent the Italians home. While Japan getting set to face either Sweden or the United States.

It's a good advertisement of African women's football would even be better if the African teams can go further than the round of 16

Some African countries surprised me in this World Cup, they performed very well, just imagine 3 African countries qualified for round 16 which is a great sign that their is improvement in women’s football in African countries. South African will be playing against Netherlands tomorrow which will be the first African country that will be playing in round 16, I know it’s won’t be easy for all African countries in the round 16 but let’s just hope some of them will be able to qualify for quarter final. Let’s see how Nigeria is going to play against England on Monday, Nigeria shouldn’t be underestimated, their performance was really impressive in the group stage, and they might end up surprising us on Monday.

This tournament is just so unexpected with results. We seen many goals and some dead matches but still i dont know who will come up on top. Most of the best teams so far are not winning all of the matches in group faze. Usa and Sweden will be close aswell maybe even not a lot of goals there

The tournament is getting more interesting with more surprising outcomes I'm every week. No one would have thought that at this stage of the tournament Germany, Brazil , Canada and Switzerland who were in the list of the favourite to win the title will be all out.
Another breaking record is having a three African teams surviving into the round of 16 for the first time in the women's world cup tournament that a good signal for advancement in women's football in Africa and globally.

On Sunday it's gonna be South Africa meeting with the Netherlands, while Sweden clashes against USA. These are strong ties to watch as right now it's not sure anymore to certainly decide on a side that will win their game's seeing how very well the different teams has performed in their previous games.

South Africa is going to get the first test for the other two African countries (Nigeria and Morocco) to face the Netherland female national team and I see S.A to play like they have nothing to lose from the start. I feel the Netherland women might underrate the S.A women because they feel they have already qualify to the quarter finals but the S.A team is going to surprise the world by beating the Netherland women.
I assure you guys that if S.A eventually beat Netherland is going to be a motivation for the other two African teams to do more better.

The performance of the African teams in this year's FIFA Women's World Cup will definitely make FIFA see reasons to give African countries more slots in the world cup tournament in next editions of the competition to come.
The African teams must know that qualifying for the round of 16 isn't enough and must put more effort to get to the quarter finals and up to the final. Nigeria is best ranked African team in the tournament and I think they'll make Africa proud

Am quite impressed with the Japanese women team who did well to record a well fought out victory against Norway.
 The tournament is also getting more interesting as I stay not too far from my screen inorder to watch how the African teams would perform in their round of sixteen encounter.
Morocco did win somehow, the S.A team did win too and have shown how they intend to progress till they lift the cup. A win for the S.A team in their next match is were we get to see how hungry they are to win the cup.

For Netherlands I agree with you they will win, but for Sweden vs USA this is not easy because so far Sweden performance is very good they are unbeaten in Group
While USA hasn't played optimally in Group E only 1 win and 2 draws and this is the worst record of USA so far so Sweden can give a surprise at any time

I watched the Spain-Switzerland game and Spain played really well.  Spain scored 6 goals in total and scored an own goal.

My favorite right now is Spain.

Switzerland was playing decent game till the match against Spain. In the group stage, they even managed to finish as toppers of Group A, by relegating Norway and New Zealand to second and third positions respectively (finished with one win, and two draws). Anyway, in QF stage Spain will be facing the winner of South Africa vs Netherlands match. For Japan it's going to be tough though. They will be facing the winner from United States vs Sweden match. And the winner of these two matches will face each other in the semi-final stage.

Japan's women's team made a remarkable attack today and secured a last minute 1-3 victory over Norway. Although it was confirmed today that the Japan women's team will advance to the quarter-finals, it is possible.

Japan women's team continue their winning streak and win the match against Norway by 3-1. The match was equal at the half time but in the 2nd half Japan women's team score two more goals and made the task impossible for the Norway girls.

I see that the chances of victory will be much greater for Sweden compared to the United States because so far they have managed to achieve three consecutive wins in their previous matches. The United States' journey has not been as smooth as that of Sweden, and they only got one win in their previous three matches against Vietnam and drew against the Netherlands and Portugal.

Sweden wants to achieve satisfactory results in this match and I tend to see their chances will be much bigger to qualify for the next round. The match will be more pressing and the United States will definitely try to take advantage of this gap.
