I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?

Successful gambler means a wise gambler who don't place bet randomly anywhere but utilize his experience and effort to select some specific limited bet to enroll. If that's the sentiment it can be a better way of addiction, learning through the process and adopting with how you will find the best way that can bring you decent benefits, a good attitude coming from those successful gamblers are the things that they are in control of their emotions, most of them understand the risk that they are taking and before they going to take it they undergo with lots of research and lots of undestanding particularly inside the game that they are playing with.

Yes you are right that mate those successful gamblers are those gamblers who are actually good in citing where he can put his bet and once when he can stop betting cause once they will win then they will stop. While if we talking about addict either he win or loss still he put his bet spontaneously which is without balancing his finance as long as he can bet then that's okay for him. So there's no addict being successful cause once they will won a big amount then after a few days all thier money will gone because of spending anything.

Yes it is very different from addicts, of course because an addict is those who always gamble with a high level of risk without doing any consideration beforehand, and it may be as you said that most of their behavior is spontaneous, wanting to win but not wanting to lose, and if they lose they will chase the loss to recover, and if they win then they will be greedy for something bigger. then what about professional poker gamblers?
you can find out from search engines seeing successful poker gamblers who become rich because they are not addicted but they only bet on big tournaments with very big prizes and can get rich from these big tournaments and if you associate the experience with addiction it seems like something is unfair because experience does not have to be addictive because poker gamblers dont have to be addicted. If they want to gain experience, they only need skill and independent practice using cards at home without involving money.
so with your statement I dont agree because experience does not have to be an addict.

I guess it depends on what you call a successful gambler.

To me that means that the gambler has a total positive money won when considering the lifetime of games.

So, there are very few ones based on that definition as most gambler win and lose, but lose more than what they bet.

That's the whole point of a casino. There are a few, a very small number of lucky gamblers that do actually end up in a win. But many of them continue and end up losing their funds in the end.

still wouldn't classify all the things that make you lose money as addictions since to be an addiction something has to affect your life in a negative way in more aspects than only that
let's say, Netflix, you could watch 1 to 5 movies a week and be happy with it even though you're paying for the service, or you could be binge watching series all days incapable of leaving your bed for work

But there are two types of addict in gambling. First, the one who succeed and second is the one who lost all his assets. Agreed, a successful gambler know how to overcome a failure, but the another type of addict is continue to play even he loses. The mindset of the other type of addict is still gambled because he won at once, he will eagerly strive for the win even he losses a lot.
