Beşiktaş GM Nedim Yücel announced that they are aiming for the championship in the EuroCup and that the organization is ready for the EuroLeague level. Beşiktaş should have been in the EuroLeague for years. By allocating more budget to basketball, a competitive roster can be built here. It seems that this vision is only just beginning to take shape. Hopefully, the management will allocate sufficient budget to this area and next year we will see Beşiktaş in the EuroLeague. Beşiktaş is already the biggest favorite for the EuroCup this season. Winning a European cup and expanding the team is a very positive plan. While Europe's best coach Alimpijević is with us, we need to give him much better material to work with.
In recent few seasons Beskiktas looks very solid under Alimpjevic, but I don't agree that they should have been in Euroleague for years. They didn't had good results, they were playing in small arena with little attendance and IIRC players weren't getting money on time.
But now things have changed. Winning Eurocup won't be easy as playofff format is stupid there IMO. And too bad that afterwinning Eurocup there is no chance to stay in Euroleague for longer than one season. I think Euroleague don't want to have 3 teams from same city.
Interesting thing that another Istanbul club Galatasaray have chosen different path - joining NBA Europe

I'm with you on that. When I saw the initial posting stating the Besiktas should have been in the EL for years I was saying to my self "what is he talking about"?? What did they actually achieve in the last 10 years? Absolutely nothing. Being a runner up once in 2024/25 in league and cup is like their biggest accomplishment. And being the runner up means nothing obviously. Anyway, EL doesn't really care about success, all they want is you having a big arena, big reach and the team paying a lot of money for a wild card.

My friend, the EuroLeague is an arena that requires a significant budget. You know Beşiktaş's situation well. With football being so prominent, basketball can't be allocated that amount of money. The fans should want it too. Beşiktaş management is giving Orkun €5 million, but they can't afford to pay that much to just two or three basketball players.
I really want Beşiktaş to be in the EuroLeague, too.
I know Galatasaray was in the game at one point, but they withdrew due to the high budget.
Our country needs to invest more in its most successful area. I hope Beşiktaş wins the EuroCup and secures a spot in the EuroLeague next year.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the odds given to Fener but it turns out to be true. Fenerbahce got a big win. I didn't give them any possibility to win in my mind but they managed to win strong. Not because Hapoel was extremely good but I thought Fener was very bad, but I was mistaken. They played decent. Still far from the last year's champions performance.

Efes lost the 15 points lead 2 times in the game. Almost lost at the end but hardly won the game. Bayern was without Obst. Things are looking very bad for Efes. Even Larkin might be injured now. Hopefully it is not a too serious injury.

Actually Hapoel are really scoring a lot and top scorer now in addition to still being the leader. But Fenerbahçe finally played like the last champion and kept them at a really low number of points.

I didn't like Anadolu Efes either. They never get better in defense mate. And now Larkin is expected to be out for 8 weeks!  Sad  I'm really losing my hope for them as for play-in qualification this year.

By the way Barcelona has brought back their Euroleague winner coach Xavi Pascual. They won the competition with him in 2010. He managed Barcelona for 8 years in the past.

They weren't doing bad in the Euroleague in fact but in the Liga ACB things were really going terrible for them. I don't know what you think but I believe his return can make a positive impact on the team.

Didnt even know that Pascual was still a coach and i was thinking he retired or something. He was great for them before when he was their coach and i think with him coming to Barcelona that they will start winning more and end those bad plays. Barcelona plays bad in their own acb league but in euroleague they are pretty solid now with this two wins they got in last two rounds. Pascual will make things good for Barcelona for sure

Especially after this many injuries, I also don't think they can make it to play-ins. Larkin, Poirier, Papagiannis, P.J. Dozier, Beaubois are out with long time injuries. It is almost like a starter 5 for them. I mean that many injuries with important players. Especially being absent of Poirier is really affecting Efes. They also couldn't get any contribution from the new American players. They also lost another important game in their country's league.

Žalgiris started the season very good and they were my favorite so far but they lost two games this week. Oly and little bit surprisingly to Dubai. I feel like I cannot place a bet on them for the next game against Real Madrid. I hope they can bounce back.

Beşiktaş won the Turkish derby in the Eurocup. They managed to defeat Türk Telekom in Ankara with an easy game. Beşiktaş, with 6 wins in 8 games, is in 3rd place. JL Bourg Basket and Buducnost are currently in the top 2 spots. However, this ranking may change in subsequent games. Buducnost had defeated Beşiktaş by a 3-point margin in the first match, but if Beşiktaş defeats them by a 4-point margin in İstanbul, they will take the spot. There are still 10 weeks left to play, and if the points are equal when the group stage ends, what I said applies. A lot can still change in the group, not even half of the matches have been played yet.
So far, a few teams have come out on top and I don't think this ranking will change much. Those at the top will advance to the quarter finals, while those at the bottom have very little chance. Teams like Lietkabelis, Panionios, Trento or London Lions don't stand a chance anyway.

Besiktas this season is crazy good. I didnt expect that they would win this easily against Turk Telekom and they got an important win away in eurocup. They are playing so good is that they are perfect in their league aswell i think they even might win the eurocup with how good they are playing. They are currently third but will be in top 2 spots for sure in the eurocup

In the Europa League, Besiktas' performance is average, still standard, not something very extraordinary. When facing fellow Turkish teams, it is clearly extraordinary, because in the Turkish league Besiktas is also very outstanding and undefeated.

Anadolu Efes are lacking so many players before the Barcelona match. The rotation is getting much narrower day by day. Beaubois might return but he has been out for a long time so I wouldn't expect much from him.

Barcelona have their old coach Xavi Pascual back. They won the Euroleague once with him in the past and he knows this team well. I don't think Anadolu Efes can hold them off with so many injuries. A heavy defeat could be on the way. Tongue

The Anadolu Efes vs. Barcelona match was a closely contested one, but Anadolu Efes emerged victorious.
Especially in the third period, Anadolu Efes played excellent defense, holding Barcelona to nine points.
Anadolu Efes prevailed, winning 74-73.
Anadolu Efes would do well to get used to winning games without Shane Larkin, as he will likely be out for a long time.

Yesterday there was only one Euroelague game, so, I had no other choice than watching Asvel - Monaco. And damn, it was probably worst basketball that I saw this season, Asvel were just shooting bricks. Asvel even got booed by their fans.
Panathinaikos didn't had troubles with Dubai, Hapoel got easy win in Milan. Zalgiris lead against Real in Madrid in 3rd quarter

Return of Pascuali marked with a loss. It was clutch game and Efes were so lucky that Veseley fouled on last attack. Considering how many injured players Efes had today, I saw Barca as favorites. It says a lot that 4 Efes players played 33-35 minutes, basically without substitutions

What's average about their performance? They only lost the Lietkabelis game in the first week and that was because the team wasn't ready yet. The other game they lost was away against Buducnost, by just 3 points. They won all the remaining games of the season. Is that average performance? I guess you made your comment without watching a single minute of any game. After 18 games, we'll see which team finishes where in the Eurocup group stage. Wink

Anadolu Efes beat Barcelona by 1 point. Despite too many missing players, they secured an important victory in the EuroLeague. They kept their top 10 hopes alive.
I've seen many Turks on forums who are upset because they bet on Barcelona and lost their money. That's how Efes is, don't put so much faith in other teams.

It's impossible not to criticize Maodo Lo. Why did you hit Campazzo's arm like that in the last 20 seconds when Zalgiris was attacking? The referee called an offensive foul and a technical foul. Zalgiris probably would have won the game.

When you're playing Real Madrid, you pay attention to everything.

If a similar situation had happened to Real Madrid, the referee wouldn't have called an offensive foul.

The last 15 seconds were fantastic. Francisco was in great form. He hit two three-pointers in a row.

Real won the game 100-99, but it was a disappointment for Zalgiris.

I don't see any problem with what Lo did. Campazzo was hand checking him and this should have been called in the first place, if you play by the rules. Funny that they called the second arm swing, which was barely anything compared to the first one.  Roll Eyes
Swiping away your opponents arm when they are hand checking you is the most normal thing you see in basketball. Campazzo holding his arm like a little girl that got slapped though isn't what you usually see.  Grin

I agree with you; if the same play had gone against Real Madrid, the referees wouldn't have called a foul.
Even if Real Madrid wins, it won't matter. It's just a win.
Because Real Madrid doesn't prioritize the EuroLeague like they used to.
At most, they'll play in the playoffs. Nothing more.
I hope Fenerbahçe wins today. Partizan is an inconsistent team, and we've won three games. It would be great if we win again today.

Play was a clear foul. Lo became enraged at Campazzo and waved his arm. It was a move Real Madrid has favored for years. In the past, Sergio Lull and Rudy Fernandes would have caused the referee to call fouls in such situations. It's not surprising, but Lo is definitely the real culprit.

Real Madrid is struggling to even win. They could even be out of the playoffs this year.

I totally enjoyed Anadolu Efes v Barça game yesterday. To tell the truth, the halftime score wasn't giving much hope. Anadolu Efes looked really troubled in the first half. Vesely was so comfortable as he didn't face any strong defending.

But in Q3 there was a completely different team! A quarter score like 23-9 helped them make a big comeback. And in the last split seconds that foul brought the win to Anadolu Efes...

Beating them with so many injuries is a great work. Hopefully they can get better in time.

Nonsense, the defending player is not supposed to touch the ball handling player like this. So if the refs want to play by the rules they should have called that first. Every ball handler will swipe away the defending arm, that's what you do in this situation. I play basketball for 35 years, watch it for just as long, and I have seen this a million times.

On Efes side the third quarter was great but on Barça's perspective it was horrible. Any coach would be furious with that kind of performance in a quarter. It should have been an easy win for Barcelona but Efes fought with everything they had and managed to get a kind of a miraculous win. Shengelia was playing below his potential. I don't like his character but he is a good player, he should have been better against weak Efes defense without they original big men.

Efes really made an amazing comeback. They were struggling in the first half, but in the third quarter, they exploded with a 23-9 run and turned the game around. For Barça, it was a nightmare quarter winning with such a performance would have been difficult.
