Anadolu Efes is reportedly considering bringing Luca Banchi back to the team. If that happens, Anadolu Efes management would be doing a fantastic job.
Basketball fans didn't understand why he was let go anyway. The fact that he's not currently coaching is a huge opportunity for Anadolu Efes.
It would be fantastic to have Luca Banchi at the helm against Real Madrid on Thursday. Perhaps we even have a chance to beat Real Madrid.

Anadolu Efes is going through a difficult period, and following the away loss to Monaco, they parted ways with Kokoskov. Efes has so many injured players that the difficulties seem likely to continue for some time. The absences of Larkin and Poirier at the 1 and 5 positions are particularly hurting the team. With the high number of injured players continuing, the increased workload on the remaining players is taking its toll on the team.

Although the international break may provide some respite for certain players, it will be difficult for Efes to resist Real Madrid, who have one of the best frontcourts in the league, without their own big men. Hezonja, one of Real's controversial players, has also performed better in recent games and did well for the national team. Efes faces a tough match. Real Madrid is closer to winning this game.

When I first read this news on the social media I couldn't believe it. I thought it must be a joke but it looks like it isn't. How can they go back after Luca Banchi now? They just fired him for no reason while things were getting better.

I really found him successful at Anadolu Efes last year. He must have had personal problems with the board. Now he is managing the Italian national team and I'm not sure if he would like to go back there after what's happened.

By the way as far as I know Obradovic is still available after leaving Partizan.

Anadolu Efes is currently performing poorly, currently ranked 15th in the Europa League, and the chances of advancing to the playoff round are very slim. Even with Luca Banchi's return, it remains difficult to revive Anadolu Efes. Especially since the next opponent is Real Madrid. Although their basketball team is not as strong, wealthy, and glamorous as Real Madrid in football, Real Madrid basketball is still a fairly strong team. Currently, in the Spanish league, Real Madrid is in 2nd place with the same points as Valencia, who remains solid at the top of the standings. Last season, Real Madrid also won the Spanish ACB basketball league, so they are not a trivial or weak opponent for Anadolu Efes.

Anadolu Efes must defeat Real Madrid today to revive its position.
Real Madrid has no advantage over Anadolu Efes. Anadolu Efes can win today. The future of the coaching staff remains uncertain. I know Pablo Laso has been mentioned, but I think Banchi would be the best option. Laso wouldn't be beneficial to Anadolu Efes. Like Obradovic, he's lost his enthusiasm.
If it were me, I'd choose Obra, not Laso, if Banchi isn't available.

Gonna be a tough task though. Sure, real is not as strong as maybe 2 or 3 years ago, yet they have a solid roster and in ACB and EL they won 8 of their last games. And yeah, most of us know what a difficult time Efes has at the moment. Even in the Super Lig they have lost their last 3 games. of course these 3 losses came against teams with a better record than them but still. I wouldn't bet 1 cent on them and even the bookmakers have them as a 6 point underdog, despite playing at home.  Cry

Tonight's toughest match will be between Fenerbahçe and Olympiacos. Both teams are missing.

Fenerbahçe Beko:
Scottie Wilbekin (very important)
Onuralp Bitim (there are other players who will replace him, but he's not as important as Scottie)

Olympiacos BC:
Keenan Evans
Moustapha Fall
Shaquielle McKissic
Evan Fournier (Match time to be determined)

Fenerbahçe has gained good momentum and is on a five-game winning streak. I hope we can capitalize on the advantage of facing Olympiacos with so many missing players and win.

The match was postponed due to rainwater entering Olympiacos' arena.
Isn't this Olympiacos' responsibility?
Given this, shouldn't it be a forfeit?
I hope it doesn't get postponed. If so, will the injured players still be able to play in that match? I eagerly await the decision.

Monaco achieved new Eurleague record - 125 is highest scoring Euroleague game in 40 minutes without OT. They got easy win against Paris, butdamn, when I tuned in game, I thought that there is mistake in score Cheesy.
Zalgiris had no chance against Maccabi at home. Strange result when just week ago there is lot of talks about coach Kattash and  that he can be sacked.
Efes lost another close game, now against Real at home. They need to find coach ASAP tosave season.
Partizan despite whole mess at club after Obradovic resigning got important win against Bayern
Tonight's toughest match will be between Fenerbahçe and Olympiacos. Both teams are missing.
And most interesting game of the night was postponed because of rain. Strange reason when we talk about basketball game, but when you see such mess in arena everything becomes clear:

What a shame - it's old problem, it's already few years and Olympiacos can't fix roof of arena.

Basically everything ended as I said before, Real won (even if not as I easy as I thought) and once again Bayern managed to lose, despite playing a great 1st half. Yet again they fell apart in the second, which is really strange and slowly they should check what the hell they are doing.

I followed Eurocup as well last night and was very surprised by watching Bahcesehir losing at home against Neptunas. They have been down by a whopping 29 points after 3 quarter, basically getting destroyed. And by the way, they have bee a 17 point favorite to win before the game.  Cheesy
Bahcesehir is standing 8:1 in the Turkish league and were 6:2 in Eurocup before this match. What happened there?!

What a shame - it's old problem, it's already few years and Olympiacos can't fix roof of arena.
This situation can be resolved now. Olympiacos should be given a forfeit penalty, and if it happens again, you should state that the penalty will be even greater. So, how is that resolved? If it's happened in previous years and is happening now, it means it's a chronic condition.
Olympiacos needs to fix this.
They should have played yesterday, but they didn't.
To prevent such losses, a forfeit penalty should be issued.

euroleague should make it clear that players who are injured at the time of the original match date can’t suddenly appear in the rescheduled game.
If they won’t take that stance, then fine, when any team is dealing with a long injury list, they can always get a home game postponed by saying the power went out.

Monaco became the team that scored the most points in a non-overtime game.

Teams that have scored the most points in a single game in previous years:
1) Real Madrid - 130 points (4 overtimes)
2) Anadolu Efes - 126 points (4 overtimes)
3) Monaco - 125 points
4) Maccabi Tel Aviv - 123 points
5) Panathinaikos - 123 points
Monaco broke the record yesterday by scoring 125 points against Paris Basket in non-overtime.

If only Anadolu Efes had better defense... Things could have been very different than now you know.  Smiley  Real Madrid were so comfortable with finishing in the paint. The same for three-pointers as well.

Because they really didn't face much of a decent guarding or so. Giving this much space to your opponent at this level is unacceptable. Anadolu Efes were a much better team than this in the past.

They immediately need a good coach and a big change in their roster too. There are many useless players there.

It really sucks. Constant coaching changes during the season, constantly hitting rock bottom… And still they need to find a coach.
And it’s under question why Banchi was let go when things had finally started to fall into place.
They also fired Kokoskov in just 3 months. Weird things really.

From today's games only a bit unexpected result is Valencia win against Panathinaikos at OAKA. But maybe when you see tournament table, it can't be called surprise, Valencia is really good this year

This problem with roof is already old, but IIRC it's first time when game was postponed because of this. If Euroleague board would have ball, they wouldn't letto play in arena with broken roof at all until they will fix it. But it's not going to happen.
Fenerbaheche offered to play on Friday, but Euroleague rejected it because two Euroleague games can't be played in same city on same day. Sometimes they have to be more flexible with their rules.

I followed Eurocup as well last night and was very surprised by watching Bahcesehir losing at home against Neptunas. They have been down by a whopping 29 points after 3 quarter, basically getting destroyed. And by the way, they have bee a 17 point favorite to win before the game.  Cheesy

Watched this game and it was really strange. Neptunas just couldn't miss on that day, they made 18 3-pointers! I expect that Neptunas will continue to go up from now. They had problems with roster - main C is out for whole season, other C Karnik left team. They lost to Hapoel just because of short roster - players were exhausted in 4Q. But during break they managed to sign 2 players and things looks better now.

Big news in the Euroleague today! Partizan coach and the biggest coach in the world has just resigned. Zeljko Obradovic has given his resignation as the coach. For all us Partizan fans this is a really big shock because we never expected this to happen, even with this kind of bad results that we have been having. I think the players are just against Obradovic and things arent going right currently. But still i would like Zeljko Obradovic to stay at the club even with this bad results, truly a legend of the club and of the sport. Hopefully Partizan dosent take this resignation from Obradovic and tries to fix this.

I just read the news  at first i didn’t believe it because , but it seems this is true. I see they’ve called an emergency meeting regarding Zeljko’s resignation, but i don’t think they’ll change anything, because if he has already decided to leave, he will do it. I believe it’s a shock for all Partizan fans, but sometimes changes are necessary for a club to progress. Here’s an example: Crvena Zvezda  they changed their coach, brought in a few good players, and achieved a lot of good results

Yeah but you cannot compare for example any other team with Zeljko Obradovic or any other coach. Partizan won his first ever euroleague title because of him,we got back into euroleague because of him and the arena is full because of him,he is everything to us. I know people can hate about bad results and everything and i am mad that we are losing and playing bad,but if someone can get us out of this he can.
Yesterday was pretty depresed that he left but today i see signs that he might stay because Partizan board rejected his resignation and before in his career this happened in Fenerbahce aswell, they rejected it and he then continue leading the team and won the euroleague that season.

They say they were ready to change the entire team for him, practically willing to start from scratch just to keep Zeljko. That didn’t happen, but even though i’m not a Partizan fan, i know what that means to the supporters. Zeljko is a basketball legend in every sense, and his resignation will change a lot of things.

They offered him everything, even to change the team and to bring new players but Zeljko refused everything. So this is the end of this era and as a Partizan fan im really sad. I think there are a lot more things that we dont know and i think politics have involved too much into the sport and into the club and for Zeljko i think its too much to handle. Also there is another rumour that the players arent satisfied with him as a coach and arent playing 100% so that might be another reason for everything that is happening in the club.
As a fan im nervous to see what will happen against Bayern Munich at home,we dont have a coach and i think the fans arent happy with the ownership so im expecting some trouble at the are on thursday.

Partizan beat Bayern, but the fans were still booing the players. As someone who supports and follows Red Star, i can say that this is a big sign of respect, because they showed that it’s not the result that matters, but the club. Zeljko is gone and, as you said, that’s the end of an era. I watched Ostoja’s interview and he himself admitted that politics is involved in everything just like in the whole country. Overall, there were no major incidents, but the fans showed their dissatisfaction, and I think it will stay that way for many more games.

It really sucks. Constant coaching changes during the season, constantly hitting rock bottom… And still they need to find a coach.
And it’s under question why Banchi was let go when things had finally started to fall into place.
They also fired Kokoskov in just 3 months. Weird things really.

Really it does mate... Anadolu Efes didn't even need any change of coach. You remember Banchi's first times right? He got bad results while shaping the team in the way he wants. The board were patient with him and we all saw its positive effect.

I even remember a time when they were like the most in form team in the Euroleague. Why did they part ways with him all of a sudden? Personal reasons or what?  Huh

Now they want him back it's said. But I don't think he would come back.

Anadolu Efes' decline continues.
They lost 92-96 to Aliağa Petkim in today's league match.
Anadolu Efes management needs to resolve the coaching uncertainty as soon as possible.
Banchi is the strongest candidate, but a deal with Banchi, the Italian national team coach, requires permission from the Italian Federation. If that permission isn't granted, they will have to consider other candidates. Pablo Laso and Sferopoulos are among these candidates. If they wait much longer, they will remain significantly lower in the EuroLeague.
The Aliağa loss isn't a major blow, but they travel to Valencia next week in the EuroLeague, and Valencia is in excellent form. They will likely suffer another loss.

Crvena zvezda has been winning at home but losing on the road in their last four games. This time, they lost at home to Barcelona. Barcelona put on a good performance by winning this game, but I doubt they'll be able to keep up.
Next Friday, Barcelona hosts Olympiacos at home and will definitely want to win this match.
Barcelona has one more win than Olympiacos, but Olympiacos' Fenerbahçe match wasn't played. Next week's most critical EuroLeague match will be the Barcelona-Olympiacos match.
