Actually, there isn't much you can do. With the advancement of technology and social media, they already know what gambling is. The best you can do is educate them and make them aware of the good and bad sides of gambling. I have seen many little kids gambling in front of me through mobile apps. It's like an addiction. Sometimes they win 50% and later lose 100%.

It depends on the environment which we find ourselves, gambling is something before it happens or play in secret but now due to civilisations that is what prompted some people to at least go into gambling seriously, children gambling at tender age is prohibited and when you see some people gambling in old days the people are prominent or classic people who gamble to catch fun but currently we gamble without season and we gamble to feed on it, so allowing children or your kids that's not up to twenty years at least eighteen years to participate in gambling is not good as parents and for me it's prohibited gambling on underage.

That is why I think at a certain age (16+) it could be helpful to show them some gambling. Isn't it better if we do it together with our kids and can teach them about the casino edge and the winning chances, instead of them learning about it alone through friends or social media? We can't protect our kids forever and eventually they will find out about gambling. In my opinion I would prefer them to learn about it first before giving it a try themselves when they turn 18. Of course, homework and studies are much more important, this should be a treat for them and they need to earn it first. I'm not justifying anything. If you have the environment for these, then one way or another they will be exposed to it. For me, what is important is knowing the correct way of doing something. As an example, we all know exercising is good for everyone, regardless of age. But we all should bear in mind that anything what's excess isn't good. Sometimes it could bring harm rather than benefits. So knowing how to do an exercise, the proper way, the time, and the amount are important. Same for gambling. I don't want to publicly expose our kids to gambling, but if we see they are somehow involved in gambling, it is our duty to guide them and educate them so that they don't fall in the long run.

But it's still good if we never gamble before our children when they are young. Awareness about the harmful effects of gambling is still lacking. Good point. Actually, saw it on the internet one day - dont try to educate your kids, educate yourself as they are your copy/paste. It is possible to gamble in front of them, the point is to behave during gambling. Dont make it as a habit or only source of income. Dont turn addicted in front of them. Dont teach them that gambling as something negative (otherwise it wont make sense, it is negative and you do it. they will get a CPU fail). Follow this steps and gamble in from of them, there is nothing bad in it.

It happens often in our environment because teenagers gather with their friends and play cards. If they don't use cards, maybe that's okay, but they could use money without the adults knowing because playing cards without money doesn't provide much of a sensation. They play the cards while learning more about the card game and usually, this is about learning traditional card games so if they use money, it will be even more interesting. And indeed, children are perfect imitators of what adults do, so we must be careful and not show our gambling activities in front of them.

If parents are into gambling it is possible that the kid will pick up the habit too and for some parents they don't even care, they believe it's normal for them to involve the kids in such things, some people are that bad at parenting, this is why it's better to choose your partners carefully, where I am from, if someone have a very habit, they will tell you to look into their household, where you are from will tell people who you really are.

I was exposed to video games at a very young age and it affected my education because I was so amazed about video game, the possibility to control a character, from Pokemon games and Mario games, I ended up with poor educational results and it prolonged my journey.

I wanted to convey my message here that gambling in front of our kids may put adverse effects on their growing minds and they may also take the wrong path and start gambling (either by asking you personally for funds or by stealing it in order to fulfill their gambling cravings).

A show of respect and regard for ones kid and himself is to display any behaviour that is capable of mildly, moderately, and extremely affecting the child mentally, emotionally, morally, spiritually and otherwise. And one of those behaviours is gambling. The negative effect on the kid may not be seen immediately however, manifestations of it will begin to become obvious as the kid approaches adolscence.

Gambling was earlier organized solely for entertainment purposes. But nowadays the financial aspect is given more priority than entertainment. That's true. I've seen various kids that came in my contact (some were my sister's kids, some were my brother's) and they were like, "Uncle, let's play rummy". I was shocked hearing that and asked my siblings what the hell was that. They said that they usually play different card games on weekends with their kids for fun. I couldn't believe that they were actually teaching their kids about cards without thinking that it'll have wrong impact on their brains and they'll also start playing the same on their smartphones (as they now know what is rummy and they saw some adverts that ask you to play there).

An ex girlfriend of mine while we were still together narrated to me how she started drinking at a very young age just around adolescence age 10, that she use to see her dad an alcoholic, drinking  alcohol (spirit), and each time he drinks as a child she watches him drink while she's playing and one day she had to sip a little from the left over in the bottle he had.

And that was how she started having a sip in each occasion behind her dad. To her the taste was something sweet. To cut the story short... That was how she got to love taking alcohol only that in her case she doesn't buzz like her dad.

There are things we do and we think our little children are not noticing but it's all a lie. In our absence they imitate everything we do whether good or bad, and that's why we should always act and behave morally in front of our kids. Never gambling in their presence, never smoke or take alcohol in their presence because like a magnet they get attracted to those things they normally see us do as their parents.

Based on your logic, kids copy every parents behaviour. But I've never seen kids washing dishes or cleaning the house on their own decision While their parents do that regularly. Quite strange, isnt it? Addicted to vacuum cleaning or cleaning messy room.

Also you have mentioned a "negative impact" from gambling. If it causes negative impact, it affects not only kids then. Should gambling be banned in general then? Or what is that "negative impact" you are talking about? Please dont say "gambling addiction". As this is individual. Not every gambler is addicted. And people can get addictions to various things.

Gambling should never be done in front of children because children's brains are very sharp they can take everything into their heads very easily, so if parents do something wrong it will have a bad effect on them because they learn by watching. It’s something that we cannot avoid these days. Here in the Philippines, we’ve seen a lot of people gambling from here and there. Not just in casinos, but almost everywhere.

From playing poker, mahjong, sports betting, etc., I’ve seen them especially when kids are getting involved in seeing and observing them.

During the COVID-19 pandemic times, F2F gambling is illegal but with some “exceptions”. I have encountered a couple of houses where their own family member passed away and visitors are flocking in.

What I have observed that time is that outside there’s some gambling involved like playing cards and mahjong especially with kids without even observing much social distancing and complying with health protocols.

It even lasted for more than a week before they actually “buried” their deceased family member.

My late grandmother was a gambler thus influencing my mom and uncle (her kids). But good thing they were not addicted to gambling unlike my late grandma.

As parents, I agree that they have the full responsibility of the actions of the children. If they get exposed in any way, better to educate them first hand about the risks.
