Is there any team working on taking over this coin? If there is, then this coin can be great, if there is none, then a take over team should come up. At least it can get to 10sat but that will depend on the plans and how supportive the community is.

Yes the Fedora Tips revival is well underway.  A new community has been working for getting on this for several months now.  Work is mostly around the wallets. 

The Fedora wallet codebase (like many altcoins) has been left untouched for years. What the new team has been doing is basically redevelop from the ground up using the latest libraries to ensure it is secure, and also fast. 

We haven't talked much in public because we are more focused on development and delivery, but we are  only a few weeks away from relaunching it.  We've done a lot of testing, Tips transactions are getting confirmed in about 2 minutes which is pretty cool! Our approach has been to focus on the work and less on hype. We think it's getting set to be a quality coin moving forward and the preference is to let that speak for itself

Hi Alisa,

Great question!  For users nothing changes in terms of their existing Tips balances or the blockchain itself.  All of our work has been on the wallet.  The wallet code had not been updated for a long time, and there are some small bugs.  It also hadn't had patches applied for a long time.  So we have rebuilt the wallet entirely, although it still interacts with the existing Fedora network in exactly the same way.  The user functions remain the same as well, although we are planning a smartphone wallet with much more functionality too.

The first wallets to be released will be the Windows & Linux wallets on March 18th.  The Mac wallet will come one month after that.  We are also releasing a technical roadmap on March 18th.

Thank you for chatting!  It's definitely a relaunch and not a fork in any way - we are not changing the blockchain at all!  We have done a major wallet upgrade because many of the modules were several years out of date, and it's not good to leave things unpatched in case vulnerabilities emerge. 

Please have a look at the roadmap - there are many plans for the Fedora community to rebuild this awesome coin!

We did hope to release on the 10th, but decided to wait another week to do a final round of testing. Apologies for not updating the forum!

The original release plan was actually mid-May, we brought it forward to April but perhaps were a little ambitious. There are no technical issues, just some UI details that we wanted to refine.

Gate.io is working smoothly and trading Tips/Ether!

We have tested the deposits/withdrawals at Gate.io and they are working as expected. After some delays everything appears correct, which is fantastic news for the Fedora community!
