I don't think that Xabi Alonso is confused, whoever takes a look at Real Madrid defense can clearly see how they are pretty average. In the past they used to have an incredible player like Ramos who would cover many players' mistakes, and he would improve the performances of the other central defender playing next to him. Now Ramos is gone and there is no real leader in the defense. They bought Huijsen has a lot of potential but he is still young, of course he makes mistakes. I've been a fan of Militão, he's lucky to play for Real Madrid, and Rudiger is very good but not like Ramos. They should have invested money in a serious centre-back.

You are making a pretty point about Conte struggles at the champions league. Nobody can deny the fact that fatigue is the plague of every team at this stage, and it is hard to argue that it is the primary reason behind the failure of Napoli to beat Benfica and PSV. The fact is that the champions league requires flexibility in tactics, quick decision making, and aggressiveness during the game, which the Conte teams have failed to deliver in Europe in most occasions. Continental competitions do not necessarily translate to league success. It could be said that it is not good in the Champions League this season, they have 6 matches with two wins, one loss and 3 draws, this is not good news, they may not qualify for the next match if they lose the last two matches in this round, there is still remaining against Copenhagen and Chelsea, which basically they are also quite strong and able to beat Napoli, they don't have good players, their attack line is weak and only takes advantage of the momentum to be able to attack back and get goals and I agree that the current squad is not the best squad. who used to be able to play very well and solidly.

but in the series they are quite competitive and maintain their position in the top 4 positions to be able to get UCL tickets again next season, their hopes in the champions league are not that big to be in the final and even in the semi-finals they are not necessarily able to enter with the composition of the competition in the current champions league.

I will agree with that statement considering how he has done with the last two clubs he's managed during the Champions league group stage and also during the knock out stage. I'm also slowly beginning to think if h is now a one season wonder manager. Jose Mourinho has won him before with Manchester United,  I believe he would do just the same if they meet again. But then again, they're simply not all that this season, not just during the Champions league competition but also with the Seria A competition.
