Oh, there's one team that's been a bit surprising to me personally: Atalanta in this early stage. They're poor in Serie A but have managed to reach 5th place in the UCL standings. I think they can also go far.

Yes, Atalanta are very surprising in the Champions League. But they got most of their points from easy matchups. However I must say that I was impressed with their comeback against Chelsea the last time. 

Can they go far? It depends on the matchup in the next stage. Besides I'm still not sure if they can finish league phase in top 8. They aren't very safe. The remaining matches aren't that bad for them though.

Xabi Alonso is not the issue of real madrid because xabi Alonso have a good record and another thing is that I just feel the players are not aligning with xabi Alonso and it is making it difficult for the coach to work well so this are part of the reasons why the club have not been doing well. They are facing sevilla this weekend and if they lost the game he can probably be sack but he will do is possible best to win the match before the Christmas break. Real Madrid will qualify automatically to round 16th because they will do all possible best to win there remaining matches in the Champions League competition and qualify without playing any playoffs games.

After Madrid lost to Man City a week ago, there was a serious backlash against Xabi....I even remembered some of my friend who where supporter of other clubs they kept saying that Xabi was this and Xabi was that...In all their accusations, I kept telling them that it's too soon to start judging him, he has only been the manager for 6-months or so, and if more time is given to him, he will definitely do with Madrid, what even Ancelotti couldn't achieve...Even though Madrid presently hasn't been giving us that historically standard performance, they still haven't lost much, on the laliga table they are the second, just 4 point below Barcelona, and in the Champions League they still havent lost out completely, they still have a huge chance even after their loss against Liverpool and Manchester City rspectively.

To me Xabi Alonso is not doing bad if Real Madrid was below top 4 i will say that Xabi Alonso is not doing well he has not even be there for a season, when Jose Mourinho came to Real Madrid as their coach he wasn't going very good with the team but with time he started winning Barcelona and other tittle for the team. Xabi Alonso will do well they should stop putting pressure on him and let him do his job, he did well with Bayer Leverkusen and i believe he do better here in Real Madrid what he need is time.

The question is how much time Xabi actually has left to turn around the current poor situation, the crisis in the team's play and results. 
If it were some other team, such a question would not be asked, but Real as a club always has the highest ambitions and goals, which are to win all trophies and victories, not defeats and unconvincing performances. 
If it is true that conflicts between the coach and players have escalated, especially between him and Vinícius, and if the trust between the coach and players has been lost, then it is likely that Xabi will soon become the former coach of Real. 
It is true that he did a great job at Bayer, but this is still a much higher level, and it is really difficult to manage a team with so many stars with big egos, who believe they deserve to play.

Atlanta will find it difficult to defeat Bilbao, the reason why i said that is because of how Bilbao played against big teams, Bilbao know how to defend against big teams and if we look how they play against PSG we can see how good they are, even the goalkeeper step up and make sure PSG did not score any goal, Atlanta current performance is good and they are doing everything to make sure they have a good season but beating Chelsea can not compare to Bilbao that that defense well.

La Liga teams know how to play a defensive game, and I will not be surprised if Bilbao score opening goal in the match because they always use their chances to score goal, if i want to bet on the game, I will bet on more than one goal in the match because anything can happen in the match and Bilbao is a team that play a defensive game.

I fully agree with you, but I conclude why people are not satisfied with Xabi Alonso because they have very high expectations of Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid, when in fact it is not that easy on the field there are so many things that must be addressed to be able to have a solid fighting team, we know that Real Madrid is a big team with many interests in it there must be friction that affects it, especially Xabi is still relatively new as a coach at Real Madrid, so far from what has been won is still fairly good in all the leagues they follow.

They all rely on him not having experience with a "particular" team like Real Madrid, well if no opportunity is given to gain experience, how should he grow professionally and how could he improve the team?
Instead of accusing him of a terrible job, it would be appropriate to encourage him to do better.

I do not agree with you. They played PSG, Frankfurt, and Chelsea. Would you call these teams easy opponents?

We can agree on this. Football is just crazy, and sometimes you might think a team would win an easy opponent because they got good results against stronger opponents, but sometimes they may be humbled by the easy opponents. So yes, Atalanta can still screw up their chance despite being in a good spot to qualify. But tbh, I do not consider both Bilbao and USG as stronger opponents, but we'll see what happens.

I thought is only me that think Real Madrid are playing poor games,because of the injuries players he as make them perform poor in all the competitions currently. but I think some will be back and make the team stronger then before, they are facing Sevilla this weekend in the league and they need to win the match. Xabi Alonso need to do anything possible to get the three point in the match and continue chasing the league title, I think Barcelona can probably drop a point against Villarreal because they are doing well and they are threat club in the league competition. Hansi flick is a tough manager and he will try is best to achieve the victory to continue topping the table in the league.

I agree with this view. It is too soon to judge Xabi Alonso as he has not even played a complete season at Real Madrid. It is always time consuming and patience consuming to manage such a big club. This is not the first time, we have witnessed such instances where Mourinho was a bad performer until he received trust. His potential is evident since Alonso had already demonstrated his quality in Bayer Leverkusen. Continuous criticism will not benefit him or the team. Rather, Real Madrid has to stand by him and give him a chance to learn, and time to establish and refine the team accordingly.

I have no more faith in Atalanta this year after they failed in multiple years to achieve a great performance in Serie A but the fact that they were UEL winners in 2024 gives me a bit of hopes against Bilbao even if right now , Bilbao seems to be the better team or at least this is how I see the situation but I could be wrong as lately football became way more entertaining than previous months.

The current situation is not possible but if we measure again from all the league phases that are followed are still in the early stages and the domestic league is in the middle of the league, injured players can return to play before the league is finished, there is still enough time as long as they can maintain their position not too far or in the champion league not to be eliminated in the knockout round later, Enrique can still try, but for now they must accept that with the current situation it is very difficult for them to get a win in the domestic league and the Champions League considering the condition of their players, there is an opportunity to bring new players to the team to strengthen the vacant positions at the beginning of next year.

He has done his professional duty with great skill at Bayer Leverkusen and is now a coach at a big club like Real Madrid. In my opinion, he is still doing well and needs to be given more time. If another experienced coach is appointed in his place, there is no guarantee that the team will do well. Bonding between the players in the team and trying best to bring the best players in the team back to form.

Atalanta are confirmed safe for the next round they have collected 13 points and only 2 matches left in this phase so the team in 25th position cannot shift Atalanta since they only have 6 points or 12 points max if they win all matches I wouldn't be surprised if Atalanta are not at their best in the remaining 2 games because it has no impact. Yeah Atalanta does look different this season in the Champions League wins against Chelsea and Frankfurt are certainly a good record and maybe they can go further as long as they face worthy opponents.

After watching Real Madrid's last match at CDR, I started to wonder whether Xabi Alonso is worthy of being the coach of a big club like Real Madrid or not. The reason is because the system implemented by Xabi at Real Madrid has always been hampered, most of the wins achieved in important matches are due to luck. He also has not been fully able to manage or control the players so that the club's identity and the players' mentality have begun to decline. He should have an easier time managing Real Madrid because the quality of the players they currently have is above the standard of Leverkusen's players, but the opposite is true, Real Madrid always struggles to win when facing weak teams.

The only way to keep the chance of winning the trophy is to improve the quality of Real Madrid game, Xabi Alonso must do that in the next match. The January transfer window should be used to bring in a creative midfielder who can maintain the tempo of the game and create chances from tight spaces. The management's trust in him must be supported by improving the team's strength. Perez must be more serious in responding to situations like this because if he continues to let the team stay at this level, Real Madrid will be in danger of not winning a single trophy this season.

I also believe Xabi Alonso is doing a very good job in Real Madrid all they need to do is to give him more time to be able to know the players very well and work with them very well because the only problem I can see his having is not managing the players very well it's having a problem with that and in order for him to overcome that problem he needs to have a good relationship with the players and how can that be achieved he need more time to stay with the players and know them very well there's no point sacking him.
And again the players should work with him so they can be achieving success in Real Madrid there is no point having issues with their coach.

The Italian side has never won the UEFA Champions League, and I am not sure that they have made it to the semi-final. They have only won the UEFA Cup in 1988/89. They still have the chance of playing in the playoffs if they can improve their performance. Antonio Conte complained that Napoli lost against Benfica because of fatigue. I have excuses. 

In fact, he doesn't have a squad that allows him to play on both fronts, and on this point i have to break a lance in favor of Antonio Conte.
The problem there is the president of Napoli who should understand that if a team is ambitious it needs to spend money, not earn it.

Real Madrid has many skillful players and everybody want to be the best player in the team the arrival of Mbappe in the team has been problematic in the dressing room Vinicius junior want to be the best asking for salary increase because Mbappe is earning more than him,  Bellingham also is a good player if Xabi Alonso can just address the dressing and they play as team Real Madrid will be difficult to lose.

Xabi Alonso was a formal player in Real Madrid I don't think if he played in Bayer Leverkusen i know that he was formal coach in Bayer Leverkusen and he won the Bundesliga tittle for them unbeaten, their issue is not about getting an experience coach Xabi Alonzo is an experience coach if not he wouldn't have won the Bundesliga tittle, i think the players are not in unity and also some injuries in the team.

Atalanta's opponents in the Champions League were relatively weak. Undoubtedly, Atalanta is quite lucky. Apart from PSG and Chelsea, they have not faced any strong teams. They lost 4-0 against PSG.
