I can't help but laugh out real hard when I saw this comment from Yamal and the hilarious response that followed by Simeone, according to the news, Simeone in his response to this told Yamal that if he wants a 1 Vs 1 sports, he should go and play tennis. Personally, it's a very simple answer, football is made up of 11 Vs 11 players and you don't tell a coach how many people you want him to use in marking you. I think Simeone will play a defense game and I even saw an edited image here in this thread where Atletico Madrid players were using bricks to cover their post. I think he will go defensive and try to hit Barcelona on the counter. Flick cannot play without high line and Atletico will be banking on that. Barcelona on the other hand will be determined not to have a repeat of what happened to them in the Copa Del Rey semi final.

Lamine Yamal is known for his controversial statements when his team is in difficulty and i will say that i like his level of confidence even if what he says doesn't happen. However, the match is active right now and Lamine Yamal has already scored in just 4 minutes, it's a good impression for Barcelona and it seems Diego Simeone will make same mistake he made at the Copa del Rey were they played defensive and Barcelona used it against them. Now that Atletico Madrid has conceded a goal, they need to come out and make attacks as that is the only way they can survive because if Barcelona score a second goal they will succeed to score the third and it will become hard for Atletico Madrid.

At least his improved this season compared to last season that he was running his mouth all the time, after Inter Milan kicked them out last season he was a bit cool and eventually stopped talking and tweeting this season unlike last season. No they didn't  really come with a full defensive plan, they tried to open the game with a surprise attacks to so they can secure atleast  one more goal before trying to go full on defence. That didn’t  work but miraculously  a goal attempt was build up and it entered  which gave them edge to start defending again.

Atletico Madrid may not sustain staying fully defensive, the goal build up was smooth, the transition from Griezman to Lookman looked easy on the team, which also led to scoring Barca. Sprinkling an effort like that in the game would not only secure the existing scoreline, but add extra opportunities for Madrid to score more goals.

The red card really affected Barcelona, and I will say that’s the reason why they couldn’t qualify for the semi final today, but there is nothing to be sad about, Barcelona played a rough game that was why their player received a red card in the match, if they had played a clean game then they wouldn’t have received red card in the match.

Liverpool tried their best in the 2nd half however the finishing was just bad. A deserved semi final qualification for PSG undoubtedly!

Liverpool played well in the second half of the match, but they still lost the match, they dominated the match in the second half, and they had lots of shots in the second half, but they couldn’t get even a goal with all the chances which they had. They tired but unfortunately they lost, but am not surprise that Liverpool lost today.

This was the 3rd time these 2 teams face each other in the Champions League. In all of those duels Simeone's side managed to be the winner.

Liverpool tried their best in the 2nd half however the finishing was just bad. A deserved semi final qualification for PSG undoubtedly!

Why did Barcelona allow lightning to strike twice.., everything has happened to them with this Diego Simeone side this season….. Knocked out twice by Atletico Madrid one in Copa Del Rey now in Champions League then twice they won the first leg and Barcelona played catch up in the second and failed (No Remontada).
Two times they received a red card given to a center back.

Yeah, this is the pitiful reality of Diego Simeone, and I don't even blame him, he even made it easier for Barcelona when he removed Ademola Lookman and his son from the match, that greatly influenced there attacking prowess, and I don't know what's wrong with the Barcelona CB's, we say Cubarsi is too young, we bring in Eric Garcia who is older and still same scenario, this is just too bad

Barcelona's offensive attack in today's match could not prevent Barcelona from losing, but Barcelona was far behind after losing 2-0 in the first match. In the past match of Barcelona, Cubarsi received a red card and Garcia received a red card in the second match, in these two matches, Barcelona faced danger at the last minute when defender Lille received a card. However, if Barcelona's players had not received a red card in this match, there would have been a possibility of scoring a goal at the last minute. Because Garcia has given good support in the past, Barcelona was under a lot of pressure in this match.
However, Atletico Madrid held their own and they were confident that they would not make much of a difference in this match. However, their strategy definitely worked and Atletico Madrid was able to reach the next round.

Now back to what you said about Diego Simone not letting the Barcelona winger have a one on one opportunity... I'd like to know, was Simone there when Yamal has been running through defense for almost all their meetings? The manager will only instruct the players not to allow the kid to find his way and the mistakes you said may...what am I saying, the mistakes must happen not only on Atletico Madrid side but to the Barcelona side too. From the first encounter both teams came out to play each other without fear but as soon as the red card visited the game, the atmosphere changed and it almost became a one sided affair. Both teams won't sit back and wait for the other team to attack and get goals, they must defend especially Atletico Madrid, they're good at that but ones Barcelona start doing that rubbish of a game plan the high line I believe Atletico will have to come out and aim their runs to get better chance to bury the game.

Now back to the discussion about Yamal and Diego Simeone. I hope you watched the match. Full-time, Yamal didn't have the opportunity to penetrate through that Simeione defense. I could count how many successful dribbles he had and the number of XG created from that right flank. Although he scored a goal, it was a goal of chance, a mistake made by Simeone's defender. We all wished for Diego Simeone not to go defensively today, and I'm happy it worked out just right.

If we talk about Yamal the mistake happened and he pass through the defenders and scored, it happened. Both teams couldn't stop passing the ball to themselves, making mistakes and so other things that went down. Fine Yamal didn't play anything compared to when they meet a weaker side, I agree with you and that happened because the game today wasn't all about him, we all know he loves everything to come from him but we should be honest with ourselves that Yamal didn't play anything apart from the goal but Araujo cost more damage than the special boy Yamal.
Now what Simone did today was the best, to calm the boys down when Barcelona was pressuring their defense, they took their time to handle the whole thing, Atletico Madrid should continue playing like this and even add more spice to it because teams will find it hard to beat them both home or away.

Diego Simeone is the man, he rested his players and now, they've qualified for th semi final. It's no miracle but a complete hard work out in by the players and the managers. Atletico Madrid did a fantastic job today, Yamal was hoping to get a one vs one encounter against him, what kind of striker ask for a favor like that? Although his early goal proved his agitation, Madrid came more prepared and ready to defend their winning advantage. However, Arsenal is yet to play Sporting with a one goal difference, which isn't a big advantage enough to think they'll qualify for the semi finals like atletico did tonight.

I didn't actually watch any of the Champions League fixtures today because I was not at home, but during the middle of the program that I attended, I had to open the LiveScore to check the result and discovered that Barcelona was actually leading Athletico Madrid with 2 goals to 1. So I was very optimistic that Barcelona will qualify because I know how they used to pressure in a time like that if they actually. But before I could check the score again, I observe that Barcelona was one man down, which was exactly what happened to them in the first leg. The red card made me understand that they can no longer qualify.

As it stands now, it is as if both Spanish clubs are crashing out because I don't trust Real Madrid to win against Bayern tomorrow in Germany. I know that Real Madrid has done something similar in the past and even greater come backs, but I highly doubt it will happen tomorrow.

Liverpool aren't the same team that used to cause organized chaos for their opponents, if anything they are more bothered about making it past the next game. Like they have lose the will to fight. With the mentality they brought into this season's UCL competition, I expected to get dropped a long time back but it' seems Lady luck kept smiling at them. They literally made the job easy for PSG with their very scrappy defense and low confidence so it's not a surprise they are out of the competition.

The game that was more thrilling was the Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid game. Damn! It's being a while since I last saw Barca this desperate and out of sorts. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first time in Barcelona's UCL competition history that they got red cards in the home and away game and this is against the same team that cost them their Copa del Rey spot. Wow! This is too much for one team. Atletico Madrid has really broken so many records and using Barcelona as their lab rats!

I like Barcelona for the way they play, for all the young players they use in every match, and for the way they are connected to the Catalan culture. What I really can't stand is the fact that they don't know how to lose, they are incapable to accept a loss, they are always crying, looking for excuses and blaming somebody. Yamal's declarations are just stupid, don't make any sense. At the same time I can kind of understand where they come from: he is young and he grew in Barcelona's environment. I hope he'll get better, there is nothing worse than a footballer uncapable of accepting a loss, the idea of winning every time is not only ridiculous but it also means there is a disconnection from the reality, it's like being a spoiled baby.

There is absolutely nothing playing out for Arsenal, I don’t see Arsenal like a Champion League contending team, the knockout stage of the Champions League is quite different from the Group Stage, Arsenal haven’t really faced any strong team in the Champions League Knockout stages, they’ve been very lucky to be playing teams that aren’t good enough, I was expecting Arsenal to play against Barcelona, but unfortunately Barcelona are Eliminated and that doesn’t mean that if Arsenal eliminate Sporting CP that they’re going to comfortably beat Athletico Madrid, Athletico Madrid is more and experienced coach in the Champions League and Diego Simeone knows everything about the Champions League compared to Arteta who doesn’t know anything about the Champions League, Arsenal doesn’t have any opportunity of winning the Champions League and it wouldn’t be very easy for them to get to the Finals after the Semifinals.
