Egypt? The Nigerian women's team is the strongest in Africa so it was suprising that they lost to Malawi maybe they underrated them but they've revived their confidence with Zambia and now second in their group. Back to your question about Egypt, it would be so disappointing if they don't win them, Egypt that's lost two of their matches to Malawi and Zambia, go check the table and see them at the bottom.

 I'm very sure that the Super Falcons would qualify from the group stage, they've not fail to do that for many year now, moreover they're defending the title so leaving in the group stage would be embarrassing. Egypt is a weak side, weaker than Malawi and Zambia, they've not claimed any point yet so the Super Falcons should easily beat them.

We couldn't beat Malawi, struggled against Zambia and scammed away with undeserved win, what made you think the game against Egypt would be easy for us. These girls are not on the same level as they were the last time we won the title. Too many older players in the team now.

We're 3rd with zero goal difference. Malawi has qualified and will rotate their squad against Zambia.

I didn't watch the Nigeria vs Zambia match but I want to ask if the referee help the Super Falcons to win Zambia that made you believe they didn't deserve to win Zambia? Egypt conceded nine goals in two of their matches, three against Malawi and six against Zambia that the Super Falcons defeated with a one woman down, so I agree with Princess Leah that Egypt would be easy for us because I just see Egypt as a team that came to make up for the women's African Cup of Nations.

Zambia was the biggest threat to us in that group but with luck we won them even with a man down (woman in this case). Egypt will be a walk over, we just have to pray the other result tilt in our favor. A possible draw will be the best result for us.

I believe that the falcons have learnt their lesson in their first game against Malawi, and it is better that they did in that first game so they will know that every team in WAFCON are their to win and they cannot afford to underate any teams. After that Malawi, lose I'm hoping that it would be their final lose in this WAFCON otherwise they should preper to be humiliated out of the tournament after they came highly recommend to lift gold. Let us not be too hasty to give up on them yet, all they have to do now is defeat Egypt in their next game to stand a chance of moving ahead and that would restore most of our confidence in them.

I understand your point but you’re doing same thing you accuse the Super Falcons of doing - you’re underestimating Malawi because of their FIFA ranking. If we have learnt anything from the 2026 FIFA World Cup is that FIFA rankings cannot be used as a criteria to rate team performance in tournaments. Malawi performance is quite similar to Cape Verde imo.

This is one of the reasons why I think the CAF president should vacate that position, since he took over as president of the region's football governing body there has less or no tangible reforms that the organisation could boast of and I stand to be corrected, and now asking a player to go a dope test due to her performance in a match could be the height of disregard anyone can show to a player's hardwork, it's quite demeaning and I think they should tender an apology to the player and her country.

Ever since the CAF president did not handle all the accidents that happened in the Afcon tournament very well i have always want him to step down as CAF president for someone else who can treat all African countries the same way to occupy the position. However, i will not call for him to vacate his position because of the doping test that was carried out on Mitchelle Alozie after the super falcons defeated Zambian, because doping test is a normal thing that is being done in football, and one of the things that warrant doping test is when a footballer always remains energetic after playing for so many minutes. If CAF suspected Mitchelle Alozie of doping because of his performance against Zambian, the only way CAF can find out is by carrying out a doping test on her. So CAF did the right thing by testing her, and since the result came out negative everyone will rest.

No, I'm explaining to you that no team in their position would risk their best players in a needless game against Zambia when they've already qualified to the next phase. It would have been a different game if they needed a win too but it's not the case here.

Using h2h to place Nigeria 2nd with 0 GD doesn't make any sense when Zambia has +5 GD -I know it's CAF format but in real football sense, it doesn't make any sense.. GD comes before h2h anywhere in the World.

Getting beaten by a lower ranked team doesn’t mean they’re a weak team, it’s football a moment of lapse can cause you much harm and that’s what happened to the Super Falcons.
The Super Falcons are a formidable team anyday even when they lose, they don’t lose easy.

Malawi even with 6points already are not fully into the next round, if they field their second choice players and lose they’ll have themselves in a tight spot cos if Nigeria win their game with a 2:0 margin, they’ll definitely top them so I’ll bet on a draw result as well cos Zambia is a strong team.

But when we talk about confidence and full competency, there should be nothing to doubt about Nigerian teams being able to beat Malawi by all means, but this shows that even everyone here talking in support of the Nigerian team cannot bodily vouch on them to deliver at this stage, we all know that football match is a game of probability but there are certain stage we can get to whereby we have more conviction that our team will supported are going to deliver for us without disappointing, and this is exactly what I wanted from us to do, but, unfortunately, no one can bet against Igebotz offer, which clearly shows lack of full confidence in our team.

Nigeria women lost only one match and you are saying that they have fallen so bad. Did you expect them to win all their matches before you know that those girls are trying their best. Even in the first match they lost to Malawi, they still managed to score two goals in that match, the only thing that has kept the team in a state of hope is because they didn't score many goals against Zambia and we can't blame them because they struggled with a red card all the way from first half. We should learn to encourage them even if they performed badly because they made us proud in the last WAFCON. Nobody should talk down on the Super Falcons even if they don't succeed to make it further in the WAFCON.

The Egyptian will be  out of the tournament whether they beat the super falcons or not. Since the Egyptian has nothing to lose they might not play against the super falcons with full strength so we should be expecting a win from the super falcons. I guess it should be a win for the super falcons but however,football is full of surprises so we might see a strong resistance from Egypt. The game might go sideways for the super falcons but we aren't praying for that.  the super falcons need to be prepare because their qualification into the next round is very crucial for them so they have to give in their best to beat Egypt.

You're right, didn't put that into consideration in my last post; that place us in control of our destiny, we just need to beat Egypt that's all.

And given that Malawi are not completely safe that throws the group wide open and Nigeria at a good advantage.

The reason why he thought that Nigeria is in 3rd place maybe  because of goals difference between Nigeria and Zambia since both teams have the same points and probably he is not aware of h2h CAF rule. Nigeria stands a better chance of qualifying than Zambia. Zambia will be facing Malawi and there winning Malawi may not be that easy while Nigeria will be playing against Egypt which is not in form. Therefore, even if Zambia should end up winning Malawi, the super falcon will definitely win Egypt with a big goal margin to qualify.

The problem is not Nigeria winning their match against Egypt but Zambia and Malawi. Because the Super Falcons qualification to the WAFCON is in the hand of these two teams. You can check my previous analysis of the matches. What they are playing is beyond taking the trophy but also to qualify in the Women World Cup. Now Zambia and Malawi are Strong teams. Zambia won their first match with 6-0 against Egypt and Malawi won theirs with with 2-1 against Nigeria and now these two teams are to play. And  Nigeria hope lie on them.

Zambia has to win Malawi with 3-1 or 4-2 which is not possible because Malawi is not a weak team in the tournament. Igebotz I thought you asked of how many points is needed for the Super Falcons to qualify, it should be 6 points and currently they have 3 points.

I would also fancy their chances of making it to the next round, at least on paper, Nigeria are a tremendous favorites to win (1.01 odds) against EGYPT, but I'm not particularly confident that they'll go as far as the final this year, it was a complete shitshow against Zambia and this team seems to be interested in making contents rather than focusing on football as their primary goal, I just hope they'll reach the semifinal at the very least so as to secure a place in the women world cup.

No, Goal difference doesn't necessarily come before H2H across all football competitions, there are a lot of leagues even multiple league ones in the top 5 leagues across Europe, including La Liga and Serie A both use h2h as the first tiebreak criteria.

 There's a possibility that Egypt will challenge Nigeria tomorrow. This is a side that haven't won a single game and even when they know that they may not qualify, they will try to make sure that the Super Falcons suffer. I feel Egypt women aren't prepared in this tournament because it's embarrassing to see them lose 6-0 to Zambia who played so very poorly against Nigeria so maybe it wasn't only Nigeria that underestimated their opponents but Egypt also did that, only that they suffered it twice.
Nigeria will have to be disciplined and control their emotions because Egypt will try to bank on their opponents desperation for three points to make them fall, I saw how they fell to the antics of Zambia which led to the red card shown to Demehin and to tell you how poor the Zambian side were, they couldn't penetrate the defense of the Falcons. If it should happen that Nigeria gets a red card due to carelessness, I feel that Egypt might not be as forgiving.

With the 1 goal over none of Zambia, I don't even think the Super Falcons performance was impressive to me coming from a defending champion team. I am a bit worried about the performance of the Falcons this tournament and hope they will be able to scale through even the group stage with this. It will be a shame to us to witness such unfortunate moment in our games this year. Although we are currently at the second position at the table standing and hope our next game will also come in good faith. Meanwhile, let me appreciate the player who scored the goal and took the Falcons out of this shame, Oshoala who scored the only goal in the 8th minute of the match. Hope to see more of these wins in the women WAFCON.
