I also don't see them retaining the title either; they look unmotivated.

No, Goal difference doesn't necessarily come before H2H across all football competitions, there are a lot of leagues even multiple league ones in the top 5 leagues across Europe, including La Liga and Serie A both use h2h as the first tiebreak criteria.

It comes in all FIFA tournament and most of the top clubs in Europe uses Goal difference except Laliga and UEFA competitions ( CL, Europa and  EURO). Some report says Serie A switched from h2h to GD since the 2022-2023 season.( I don't know about this I don't follow Serie A)

For the records I just found out that CAF started using since 2010  Angry

This is one of the reasons why I think the CAF president should vacate that position, since he took over as president of the region's football governing body there has less or no tangible reforms that the organisation could boast of and I stand to be corrected, and now asking a player to go a dope test due to her performance in a match could be the height of disregard anyone can show to a player's hardwork, it's quite demeaning and I think they should tender an apology to the player and her country.
Ever since the CAF president did not handle all the accidents that happened in the Afcon tournament very well i have always want him to step down as CAF president for someone else who can treat all African countries the same way to occupy the position. However, i will not call for him to vacate his position because of the doping test that was carried out on Mitchelle Alozie after the super falcons defeated Zambian, because doping test is a normal thing that is being done in football, and one of the things that warrant doping test is when a footballer always remains energetic after playing for so many minutes. If CAF suspected Mitchelle Alozie of doping because of his performance against Zambian, the only way CAF can find out is by carrying out a doping test on her. So CAF did the right thing by testing her, and since the result came out negative everyone will rest.
Actually a doping test is a normal thing in professional football and it can be carried out on a player based on his performances and other factors, But for a player like Alozie, I know that there will be several speculations  due to the match coming after the super falcons and the Zambian team where they were defeated. But what is actually important is that CAF should look into their administration rather than doing things that will only raise speculations, they should work to be competent and also fair in their decision making to improve and promote the tournament

I have not been following up the women competition, i watched highlights of last matches that has already been played and i saw that fans are not even much on the stadium, why is women competition always like this, majority of people don’t even take it serious why is it always like that? I know this are the questions some women may always ask. For me the reason is because men professional football has had over a century to build loyal fan bases but women’s professional football is much younger in many countries and has not built loyal fans and lastly cultural attitudes. This are the reasons why attraction is not seen in women tournaments.

We don't have many women in football or many women with an interest in even watching their fellow women play. The fan base for women football competition is slowly building up, and it will take some time before it is as matured as the male fan base for the sport. It is because this thread showed that the WAFCON was on that I started following up small small, if not I would not have known because it has not gotten as much publicity as the AFCON gets. With more marketing and publicity, people could slowly gain interest and the competition gets attention.
The Super falcons of Nigeria will get to play against the Egyptians tomorrow and from the historic record that they have against each other on the number of times they have met, the Super Falcons have dominated each of the game scoring more than one goal. It is in the same spirits and the same motif that the Super Falcons will approach the game expecting that they will be able to dominate the Egyptians and get another win  but I will be careful if I was them because the Egyptians have every reason to want to win this game so as not have it on record again that they were defeated by the Super Falcons.

This is just how women football is and you can't compare it with Men's football. Even in Europe that's how it is, you don't see a lot of supporters in women football which I think is majorly due to the intensity of their game it's usually not as interesting as Men's game. You're right Men football has been in existence longer than theirs and has already built a strong fan base. Most investor prefer to invest in Men football and all those things makes it more interesting as well.

I think compared to before their game has even advanced and more interesting than it used to be some years back. In a few years from now their game will keep advancing and soon we will see more people watching their games.

From what I have been seeing in this ongoing Wafcon I can say that, there is much improvement in terms of the quality and standards of play. Because from the beginning of this tournament we have been seeing upsets coming especially from the teams that were considered small. Because countries like Nigeria and South Africa has been humbled and is just looking at winning their remaining game so they can make it to the knockout stage of this competition.

Women football generally can't be compared to that of the men, that is why we are seeing the difference in pay in the players between the female and that of their male counterparts. I will encourage people to follow female football because even though there are not much followership when it comes to female football, it's actually exciting to watch.

I agree with Princess Leah that Egypt would be easy for us because I just see Egypt as a team that came to make up for the women's African Cup of Nations.
Easy? Like, you mean easy-easy? Tell me it will be a struggle, but they may win and I'll buy that. Don't use the word easy, this is exactly why we were kicked out of the race in the WC (men).
If you don't believe Egypt would be an easy opponent for the Super Falcons I will never argue with you because everyone is entitle to their opinion and belief, but as for me the Super Falcons won't struggle in defeating Egypt tomorrow. The Super Eagles and the Super Falcons are two different teams, so don't compare them. My only concern is for Malawi to make Zambia drop points tomorrow so that the Super Falcons would finish second in group C and qualify to the knockout phase of the Women's African Cup of Nations.

You didn't see the game last night then between Senegal and Morocco. Maybe take some time, head right back and see for yourself. Well, the main reason for that crowd should be because, they're the host nations and their fans are always there to give them the support that they should get. And then, I don't know if they're being affected by the visa issues, I can not make a conclusion because I don't know.

That said,  Morocco punished Senegal yesterday to the point that they got awarded a penalty, and literally went on to miss it twice. It is thanks to the Senegalese heroic display last night, not just because she saved the spot kick but she made crucial saves to see them sharing the spoils.

It will take a miracle for football fans to have a change of thought regarding women's football. It has always been like this for years, by now, I was hoping it will be better but I'm also part of the gangs ready to never spend on dine to buy women's football match ticket. I may not watch use my time to watch women football if the ticket were free too. Women football is not entertaining like the men's football. It is not fun either. That said, if you want to watch women's football watch the domestic league.

But the Super Falcons struggled to defeat Malawi in the first leg of the tournament, I know we can match strength against them and possibly get the win, but I don't think they will be that easy just the way you assume them to be.

Yes, Egypt has lost two games in the tournament, but don't you think the last game, which will determine a lot for them, won't be taken very seriously? It's a big competition that holds the fate and reputation of both countries, It will be a tough battle, and I hope the Falcons come out with the victory dance.

The Super Falcons didn't win Malawi, Malawi won the Super Falcons 3-2, and the Super Falcons struggled against them because they have a good team. Egypt will never make it to the next stage of the competition even though they luckily beats the Super Falcons so they have nothing to fight for, it's the Super Falcons that has what to fight for, and with how easy Egypt was for Malawi and Zambia to beat, they won't be an exception for the Super Falcons.

Too many old player's resurfacing every tournament and the coach seems not to be bothered about it. It is fine that they are good players but there should be a mix of both the old and new giving room for the new t experience and learn from the old and experienced players. It's high time madugu reshuffles the female team and bring in new players that are vibrant and ready to deliver. These set's of players have all gone far and wide and they should be able to allow the younger generation take position so they could carry on with the already existing legacy the Falcons has established.

When a coach is satisfied with what they always get at every WAFCON to introduce new players always become difficult for them and they wouldn't believe that it will help them, although I think it was on the goalkeeper aspects the coach did something because is like they added Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko as there new goalkeepers this year and that was good but they should have also do something on there attacking midfielder because is weak. The team cannot be reshuffle now but definitely after this tournament there would be some work to be done on the club because this squad might not win WAFCON next year.

You are right. When a coach leads a particular set of players to win trophy several times, they  feel too relaxed and comfortable with the that current set of players forgetting to groom new player's that would take over from them when they are no longer active as they used to be.
These current squad have been on existence for quite a long time now and are still very much active though but still the coach needs to bring in new players. Just imagine what is happening as Asumpta Plumpter did not feature this year's tournament and see how our defense is shaking and that prompted Malawi victory over Eagles their first match. If Eagles had have somebody to take over from Plumpter, I believe Malawi would not have been able to equalise that match.

Am truly surprised to see that this is even a topic of discussion because the Super Falcons I know are the best when it comes to women football in Africa. I didn't know that they have dropped so badly that it's now a big issue for them to qualify from their group stage. With this sort of performance, I doubt if they can make it all the way in this year's competition.

Am not a big fan and lover of the women's sport but the record this girl have for themselves speaks highly of their performance so I would not see qualifying as something that would be an issue especially when they do so well in the world stages.

I never said the Super Falcons won, don't get me wrong. I said they struggled, the margins were close, and both teams gave their biggest shot, in the struggle for winning, Malawi gave the best and deserved the victory.

My whole point is that the Super Falcons should not relent on giving it their best shot, because Egypt has lost twice, it doesn't mean they can get the win too easily.

In the history gap of men's football which I would say is started around the 1800s…in fact most clubs that I know of have lived the longest ages of more than 20 years and generations have built alot of fans around the world, let's say imagine this as your grandpa supported Man United and now you are also a die-hard fan of them, and your son might even become a die hard fan too someday when he is off age now you see how loyalty is inherited football…from the little research I would make about women football was literally banned in so many countries until some years ago, when it was brought back, but for a longer time the message was already clear that football was not for women, women are meant to become housewives and not players in the pitch.

Well I guess they I’ve not really gotten the attention or time to build  loyal fans base  as the men’s game . Just like you say women professional football is younger in many countries, I also watched their highlights especially PSG women’s team , i must say they are impressive especially sakina karchaoui whose is like the ace in the team usually see clip about her . Her dribbling ability is worthy the praise  she receives , her number is number seven(7) for a reason . I believe with time they will get the visibility they deserve, and medias will also start focusing on them too.

Women football competitions are not really looked into by many because its barely survived decades but for men’s football it has always been there and considered the only competition that brings many together even in the world standards. For women even a man decides to start watching the female athletes because he has been used to watching men it may seem unserious to him because they plan differently from men, but in recent times they have made names globally so it beginning to get the attention it deserves.

This could be the reason and it will still take several years from now before we women football becoming more recognized. There was a time women football players were complaining about their pay, they complained that they don’t get paid as much as they get to pay men football players. When I saw that complain those days, I smiled and laughed about it because there is no way you can compare the same energy men put into this as you do. If your teams begin to pay you that much, where will they be able to recoup the money back.

No much people are coming to watch your match which means less ticket sells for them. I feel it is even the male team players that are funding for the female team players to exist in a club, so there is no way they’ll be paid same amount. Even females don’t like watching their counterparts playing and more cling to men team players and go and watch their matches more. This is a huge gap between this two and that should even be considered when it comes to wages to be paid to players weekly in their teams.

Women football do not receive as much attention as their male counterpart because they don’t have as much publicity, funding, endorsement, advertisement, and buzz like the male counterpart. The world has already gotten used to it, but trust me FIFA can turn these around if we have as much funding for female football competitions as do males.
I doubt this has anything to do with gender stereotype. It is just based on the football body. They are the ones that can change things and they know it.

It’s actually funding that’s the biggest problem of the women’s football and that funding can be said to have its root coming from lack of public attention. I don’t personally think that FIFA can do much about this situation like we talked about, if we request that more funding be released for them just like the way some female footballers actually want same pay rate as the male counterparts but let’s be realistic the women football is not generating that enough money to want a more funding,

Take the WAFCON that’s ongoing for an example, didn’t you see how empty most of the games are, this is where the revenues are generated and the low turn out clearly shows why the reason for their current revenues.
