Economic and Financial Crime Commission and ICPC has probe NFF for the uncounted N12 billions which was meant for the allowances, and bonuses for the players. The loss of the Super Falcons has made the government to look into the management and they have caught a big fish. This was gotten from Sahara Reporters.

This probe has been overdue. There have been reports of a high rate of corruption in the NFF, and it seems the statutory agencies have been turning a blind eye to these allegations. Players who sacrifice to represent the country are owed wages, while the government has released funds. I am pleased that this corrupt institution will be investigated. My problem is that the EFCC is also corrupt. I will not be surprised if money changes hands and the case is swept under the carpet.

Painful reality! Painful how NFF is just a prototype of the system of which EFCC is not excluded. It got to this level because the NFF made it so obvious that even the blind can see what they did. The NFF leaders are indirect part of the system that is why they're all able to get that office in the first place and the moral to do that bullshit of which this can't be the first time, being part of the on going system, there's actually little or nothing that the EFCC will do. The drama will keep playing until power takes off and that will end the story.

This is a very pathetic story and I'm not surprised to hear it, corruption is like a second name to our politicians and by extension our government funded agencies cannot be expected not to be corrupt because it is corrupt officials that are planted in ministries to loot and share stolen funds. NFF have always been known for corruption and this not the first time, these criminals are part of the reason why our local football and national teams are not progressive as they should, when you withhold players entitlements you cannot expect them to be in the right frame of mind to play their best. I've also heard of cases where players are told to bribe before they are included in a team selection. I hope that this one wouldn't be swept under the carpet, prosecution, jailing and recovering stolen funds from the NFF officials that are found to be corrupt would set a precedent for others that are intending to do the same.

Former Nigeria international Obafemi Martins is backing Seyi Tinubu to head the Nigerian Football Federation. He made this known during a podcast with former Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi. He believes that the president's son has the qualities to lead the Nigerian football body because he is young and understands what Nigerian wants.

I am wondering how Seyi would perform as the president of the NFF. I thought that ex-players would be the best to manage the affairs of the NFF and not someone who is inexperienced. I also don't think that he would be transparent since the government is highly corrupt.

Biggest joke of the century by Obafemi Martins. What does Seyi Tinubu know about football. Even though the NFF president is not elected based on past players but what sports football role has Seyi Tinubu played that they will use it as an insight to identify him as someone who can handle the role of the NFF. It's not as if I have any personal hatred for the president's son but he isn't in the best position to handle such office. Even in FIFA, the president is always elected from individuals who has served a football body and not just a random person who is influential. If Seyi Tinubu has held a position as the sports director of a Nigerian club, or as a technical committee chairman and delivered, there would have been a place to reference his achievements as part of the reasons while the position of the NFF president should be given to him. This is just some kind of political statements by the former Super Eagles player Obafemi Martins.

This is Obafemi Martins thought on Seyi Tinubu becoming, not what Seyi Tinubu is saying to Nigerians that he wants to become. So, this thought of Obafemi Martins can be disregarded since no public declaration has been made by Seyi Tinubu that he's vying for a place in the NFF.

I would rather just take this Obafemi Martins endorsement of Seyi Tinubu with a pinch of salt of what is not feasible to happen

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn't mean that it will be implemented, the last time I checked seyi Tinubu is the son of the president, he might be a fan of a football club, but I don't see him as someone that knows much about sports to be given such role to handle, you never can tell, Obafemi martins might actually be playing or making guest of the guy, but then I can't conclude on that, since Nigeria has become a country where people can be appointed to handle a role that they may not be good at, seyi can also be considered for that position if he wants but I doubt if he is aware that Obafemi martins made this statement.

What should actually be put into consideration here is whether he has the experience and what it takes and not about political connection or influence. Football and politics or business are not the same thing, so to handle the role of NFF and that of politics isn't same. It takes someone that is experience and knows how football works. This doesn't mean that for someone to be the president of NFF that they must be an expert in football but rather they should at least have an experience this I believe should qualify them for the position. So, Seyi Tinubu lacks what it takes to be the president of NFF because he lacks the experience and doesn't know anything about football.

Bad trees will barely yield good fruits, This is why I feel like the son of a corrupt president will not do any different from how he has been brought up under the system. If the Nigerian Football Federation make the mistake of appointing Seyi Tinubu or even allowing the appointment, if it is beyond their power, the corruption in football will be more than what we have seen. The endorsement of Seyi Tinubu by any big football personality or influencer on this matter supporting the appointment is for the sake of their own personal interest and benefit because they are seeking some sort of favor or good face with him, not for the benefit of Nigerian football because the Nigerian Football Federation needs an experienced personality who understands how the sports industry is run and what is necessary.

How can someone who is already corrupt and has been linked with a lot of corruption acts lead the Nigerian Football Federation when we need someone that will do it fairly in order for the National team to be more successful in the future. This should be a joke because I don’t think Sheyi Tinubu is worthy of this position, he should stay in his lane and do his activities and avoid going into the field he is not used to just because he is the president son.

I think drastic decisions needs to be taken because we can’t watch them outing everything into corruption, let there be transparent and fair selection of candidates who have experienced and don’t have any corrupt politicians backing them, so that the problem of the NFF can be solved.

Like father like son. Seyi the son of Tinubu in chase of the most exalted NFF seat of power. I don't think he would succeed such except his father influences the election to make his son the NFF president.
Another question is this, does he has what it takes to lead the footfall governing body? Or it is another conduit for them to continue the embezzlement of public fund's.
Such position needs to be occupied by ex-footballers not one without any experience in such sports because it would still be the same problem we will see if inexperienced person occupies such position.

This is really embarrassing coming from an ex international like Martins, the one we mostly refer to as Oba goal. the son of the president does not have any experience when it comes to managing football affairs, football affairs is beyond just administration, it involves technical knowledge of an experience person, else you will just be signing out money as an administrative head to persons that will run the system aground. For me I believe going forward the head of NFF should exclusively be for ex footballers or coaches. As for the records, we've had politicians occupy the position of the NFF president for a long time coming and so far the results has been disaster, it's high time we hand it over to professionals.

The government is undoubtedly highly corrupt as we speak but I will see such appointment as a litmus test to the son and for us to see how he is going to perform there after. I am not saying I am in support of what Obafemi Martins said fully because I don’t know what he feels was the reason for saying this but whatever it is, it is not a unfounded thing to do as we have seen different situations and times were governors or presidents of some countries will appoint his biological son into his government not necessarily in his own cabinet. If Seyi does not transform the NFF which is seriously lacking noticeable impact then let us just see what Seyi can do to revamp the system ensuring it protects the interests of the people.

I'm wondering on what basis is Obafemi speaking from, what qualifies him for such a post? I'm just wondering why my fellow country people are obsessed with people without the necessary qualifications to occupy places they know little or nothing about. You want to put a politician to handle the affairs of footballers, we are in this deep shit in this continent as a whole because we allow greed to override us, in a same society, the NFF president should be held by someone who knows in and out of the countries football and no body fits this position other than ex players and coaches of the nation, they have all been there and have the experience first hand.

In my view, Obafemi Martins was just hyping Seyi Tinubu. The ex-footballer might want to join politics or seek a political appointment. He might also be broke and want to get some money from the president's son.

It's a slap in the face to former super players who would have been in charge of Nigerian football. Sports administration should be handled by those who understand the game and not novices. It might be Obafemi's view, but it doesn't make sense because Seyi might mess things up.

Lol Nigeria, my country our home “Like father like son “which is flying around the internet right now fro the latest reports less than 24hr which I was hearing Seyi Tinubu is not declaring for the NFF and there was no confirmation in fact how true can this be? This was how it all started Obafemi Martins endorsed him on Mikel Obi’s podcast saying he can be the next president of the NFF and saying he is young enough in age and can lead and supervise the Super Eagles

So right now I think it’s just talk, and endorsement, not an official candidacy that should be happening anytime soon or so…

I would rather just take this Obafemi Martins endorsement of Seyi Tinubu with a pinch of salt of what is not feasible to happen
How can we allow both father and son to ruin our place of excitement? Whoever endorses Seyi is psycho.

Let Seyi focus on his politics and campaign runs for his father, football and the music industry are the only outside world away from what is happening in the country. He wasn't a professional player whom we can trust to run the affairs of the federation, it would only be greed and plans for embezzlement if the news was true and not a daydream from someone I least expected such from.

I know that obafemi martins is no more as famous as he was before, so email wanted to get public attention and recognition are the same time, so that she used to double might find him worthy of considering an appointment slot for him now or later in the future, because I don't see the correlation that comes between Sheyi Tinubu being nominated as the NFF President when there are many competent football candidates and experience coaches that deserve that position and have the qualification.

This is where I will only see this as purely a gameplay, and not something possible to be.

Sheyi Tinubu is not an ideal person for the position, we are still talking about how politics is killing our national team and they're nominating someone who has been routed in politics to become the president of NFF, actually they're really taking our sports for granted, I was even thinking that Sheyi has interest in taking a position on their state but I'm surprised on his interest on our sports president, he is not a player so he should leave everything that concerns sports to the people who understands it, someone that grew up from were corruption is practice like a normal thing would definitely have the same motive, perhaps Michael Obi should be appointment for the position instead.

In my view, Obafemi Martins was just hyping Seyi Tinubu. The ex-footballer might want to join politics or seek a political appointment. He might also be broke and want to get some money from the president's son.
It’s obvious that obafemi martins endorses Sheyi Tinubu because of his selfish interest, maybe he needs a position also, and sheyi tinubu can help him get whatever he wants, and thats the reason why he decided to endorse sheyi Tinubu. Seriously I don’t even think a position like this is suppose to be held by sheyi, his father is already the president of the country, he is not suppose to hold any serious position right now. If sheyi is made the NFF president, then we going to see our football activities get worst, because sheyi is not a competent person that can handle a position like this.

Oh my gawd! It's only in Nigeria we see incapable and inexperienced people in a becoming a head of a body they know nothing about. Politics has already destroyed the beautiful nature of football in our national team and look at the direction it's still going to. Seyi Tinubu should go to the bar and practice his profession and not to jump into sport that he knows nothing about. How do you expect Nigeria to move forward with all these incompetence in various public office.

He could do well, the recommendation by Obafemi Martin isn’t so bad, I think is high time we stop playing politics with Nigeria Football, it’s absolutely horrible for the Government to be playing politics with Nigeria Football, Nigeria need young people in their football, people who knows what football is actually about, we have to consider different options as well, now they have to find a way to make Nigeria football work again, for them to qualify for the World Cup, we just need the team to be playing a good football.
