Anyone can make a profit with Bitcoin, regardless of the amount, but doubling your initial investment is quite difficult because you’ll inevitably have to wait a long time for the price to reach twice your initial purchase price. So my question is why not just do it periodically? For example, with DCA, this method is much better suited for small investors because it involves minimal risk and can maximize profits as long as you’re consistent in allocating funds over the long term. This is better than making a one-time purchase and waiting for a 100% return from that single transaction. Wink

I have been thinking lately about how investing in bitcoin is actually a great idea but also it can be really hard to make profit off bitcoin if you're a small Investor
Imagine this:
If bitcoin is at $64k and me as a small investor bought with $1k, for me to make 100% profit bitcoin will have to hit $128k, that is still feasible
But if I'm hoping to make a 200% profit on my investment bitcoin price will have to get to $256k, how achievable is that ? And if it's achievable how long is it going to take

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?
Better to buy yourself some ice cream, get some flowers for your mom, and just spend that $1,000 on yourself—that would be 100 times more worthwhile! It’s not profitable to invest $1,000—or even $10,000—in Bitcoin! With that kind of money, it’s better to be a speculator than a "hodler."
That mindset actually can make you broke. Since after you spend that money for those things you have said. You won't get anything in return.

Also if you only put $1000 then don't plan to add it, then we can agree with you that its not worth of your time to invest that amount. But if you have a good plan then try to increase your Bitcoins, by continuous accumulation. Then with that we can probably say that all those efforts and money you spend for many years doing DCA is truly worth it.

I disagree about its good to be an speculator than being a HODler, since this is self defeating attitude.

I can make all the money I need from just one trade! Being a speculator is only unprofitable for those who don’t know how to trade!!!

Good.  You have been registered on the forum since August 2018, yet I still doubt that whatever you have been fucking around with would have had beat a fairly straight-forward bitcoin buying and holding approach.

Let's say that you had $5k to buy bitcoin in August 2018 (which would have had gotten you right around 0.67 BTC for $7,500 per BTC), and then thereafter you were going to buy $100 per week, which between August 2018 and now would have had caused you to invest about $43k, and you would have had accumulated about 2.462 BTC.

So by now you would have had invested right about $48k, and you would have about 3.13 BTC.

I doubt that whatever you have been doing with fucking around with trading bitcoin and other shitcoins has done better than a strategy focused on bitcoin accumulation through buy and hold only.

I don’t actually know anything, and I don’t have any particular skills—yet I managed to stay in the top rankings on Binance based on ROI for three months! Just a coincidence, I suppose... Now I’m looking for a fund where I could apply what I know; the rest is just trivial detail. Everyone has their own strategy.

I mean, we should only use leftover income after all basic needs and emergency funds are covered. Because this way we can build assets solidly and calmly without pressure. Profit is indeed the ultimate goal we hope for but don’t let it dominate our thoughts.
While I agree with your statement that you should not use the money needed to buy Bitcoin to buy it, I do not agree that you should start buying Bitcoin only after the money needed for the emergency fund is fully accumulated. As you know, not everyone's income and ability are equal. If a person has a small amount of discretionary income every month after meeting all his expenses, then it may take him a year or more to build an emergency fund equal to a few months of expenses. If he is busy all this time just building an emergency fund and does not start buying Bitcoin despite having the ability, then he will probably be behind in the long-term accumulation opportunity. I am not saying to ignore the emergency fund and invest all his money in Bitcoin. If he wants to, he can simultaneously consider his situation and invest a part of his emergency fund.

There is nothing that should happen that should make us to invest in bitcoin with our emergency funds, that's a wrong step for an investor to do, our emergency funds is there to protect our bitcoin investment not to be sold when we haven't reach our bitcoin over accumulation point because when emergency come and there is no emergency funds the next thought will be to sell off.

Bitcoin investment should be done using our discretionary income that is the rightful funds to be use when buying bitcoin, any one using their emergency funds to buy bitcoin is just gambling with their investment as they are indirectly trading with their bitcoin investment.

Trading BTC I would lump into this same category. Switch to DCA, enjoy the pleasure now, enjoy the results afterwards Smiley

Investing a fixed amount of money at regular intervals (DCA) is a good practice. If you put it on autopilot, you stop noticing the difference after a year, and then it's like accumulating Bitcoin without even thinking about it. The key is not to spend too much each time you buy BTC. Make it more or less 5% of your salary, and don't forget to adjust it up or down when your salary changes.

I always say there are 2 ways to do DCA (ok more but this is the easiest 2). Fix a time, and invest whatever you have. This is what I do weekly (after earnings and spendings whatever is left).

Or Fix an amount, and whenever that amount is reached, buy.

Both are easy and just require a fixed amount or time. Salary is a bit more tricky Tongue

You make a good point, investors should avoid investing their Emergency fund in bitcoin as they might sell at a big  loss when they are hit by a real life emergencies.  Emergency funds aren't meant to be invested in bitcoin, so any investor who is using theirs to buy bitcoin is a gambler and might sell during a real life emergency.  As the name implies, emergency funds are to be use to handle only real life emergencies and should be kept in an accessible location. For easy access and to avoid tampering with your bitcoin investment, emergency funds should saved in the Bank, kept in a safe location in Fiat or invested in bonds. That way, even if you encounter a real life emergency, you don't have to sell your bitcoin at a Lost to tackle it.

I prefer the first one which is fix a time and buy because that time will be when you're going to have your discretionary income available. However, the second one might be like a waste of time because if your discretionary income isn't up to the amount you fix, it means that you wouldn't buy bitcoin and be waiting till it's up to that amount when you can buy bitcoin with any amount that's your discretionary income instead, of waiting.

Do you know that they're some weeks/months that our expenses and basic needs varies and that will definitely affect the size of our discretionary income. If in one week/month, your expenses is higher than the initial amount, you don't have any option than to buy bitcoin from whatever amount of money that's left and reduce the amount of bitcoin you do buy.

In another month, you can have a little expenses and high discretionary income, you will increase the amount of your bitcoin purchase. You might not have any discretionary income left in one month, you don't have to force yourself to buy but to wait till you have discretionary income again. You might be waiting for you discretionary income to reach a certain amount and the price of bitcoin keeps pumping.

I disagree with you dude, if someone is investing in Bitcoin and  then fortunately there is no discretionary income to front load or double up when there's Dip, there is nothing wrong in using that emergency funds to double if you have a source of income that can help get back both your discretionary income and your emergency funds in less than no time but if someone doesn't have such source of income they should forget about it so in summary it is a matter of capacity, if you don't have the capacity stay within your reach and means.

I agree with this perspective, newbies can also go with this practical approach, and it's not necessarily to make a fixed amount a must, but it should be flexible strategies, as how income changes and our expenses also changes, depending on how everyone's planed thier financial balancing towards Bitcoin investment. We just have to build a good mindset of consistency than consistent fixed amount. Moreover the most important thing is by making commitment to acts on purchasing bitcoin base on discretionary income availabilities, then stay into the journey and be stacking regularly than waiting for the perfect time. Inasmuch as discretionary is ready, even if you are buying $20 weekly, whenever the dictionary income is not up the amount, you can still buy with $10, it all fine when there's flexibility, just be consistent and have financial disciplines and long-term patience.

Wink

You need to be careful the way you present guaranteed profits in Bitcoin Investment. We all know profit is not guaranteed even in long term that’s why we use the phrase “invest with an amount you can afford to lose”. DCA is a good accumulation method, but it doesn't still remove the risks that come with Bitcoin or guarantee that one will make profit.

But if we look at long term investing and holding on paper. A long term investor is in a better position than someone chasing short term profits. The way you also presented DCA as a strategy for mainly small investors is misleading. DCA works for everyone, whether you’re small investor or big investors. And the reason why it is more preferred is because folks don’t need to time the market before buying, and it spreads their purchases over time.

I doubt that whatever you have been doing with fucking around with trading bitcoin and other shitcoins has done better than a strategy focused on bitcoin accumulation through buy and hold only.

Well common approach of people who think they know everything. Maybe he is blinded by his temporary victory, reason why he assume that its more better to be a trader than a holder.

But one bad movement all his gains might get wiped out, I tried that before and truly got disappointed with losses I've got.

Later on he might realize, that its better to hold Bitcoin rather than doing trades with those shitcoins.
