I actually think that Portugal without Ronaldo would experience a decline. Portugal before Ronaldo had never won a major trophy, but after having Ronaldo they were able to win the Euro trophy. What I mean is Ronaldo has made Portugal a team that must be watched out for every match. This is different from Argentina before Messi Argentina had even won the World Cup, meaning they already had a history. So losing a star player is something Argentina is already used to.
Cristiano Ronaldo has changed the history of Portugal. Even after Cristiano Ronaldo came, Portugal has become much more confident in international football. The number of fans of this Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo in the world is also very large. But I think a good quality player increases the quality of the team, he alone does not make the whole team. So I will not exclude other Portuguese players from this list.

Similarly, Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, where Messi made an extraordinary contribution by scoring 7 goals and 3 assists. At the same time, that success was possible due to the contributions of other players.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a popular player in the history of football. He is not only the best player in Portugal, he is a popular player in the history of football. We all love his game. There is no such personality who does not love Ronaldo's game and does not love Ronaldo. However, he is more interesting in the history of football if Ronaldo could have led his team to win the World Cup, then maybe his value in football would have been better reflected.

However, what you said, I give the most importance to and that is, everyone in a team is the best player in their respective positions, because if everyone does not give their best in their respective positions, then a team can never reach a good position because a team can never be well organized by one player. From my point of view, everyone is the best player in each position.

Why are you underrating Ronaldo's contribution to the national team? He helped Portugal win their only Euro Cup. You even called UEFA Nations League, yet many top teams have never won it. I would have to agree that Ronaldo's impact on the team has reduced drastically. Nevetherless you love or respect for Messi shouldn't make you undervalue the contributions of the Portuguese player. His speed and strength might have reduced, but his experience and influence are undeniable.
Whenever you hear Messi fans speaking, you will know from their tone. I heard someone saying here, Ronaldo fans are worshipping him or so as if he has see any of these said fans he’s accusing with a rosary belonging to Ronaldo or a temple built with the face of Ronaldo before making such statements. But I understand it is same thing we are talking about here and it is just unnecessary to me some times even unfair. This does not limit to Messi fans alone but also Ronaldo fans who think body shaming Messi fans is the right thing to do should also stop it. Let everyone support who they want to support or be quiet as to who you don’t know. It is better rather than disrespecting to the player in question and the fans who are out there supporting .

Why can't we respect both players? Messi and Ronaldo are football legends, we have to admit it. If you are a Messi fan, it is not something that you have to criticize Ronaldo, for Ronaldo fans there is no need to criticize Messi. Football is only for enjoyment, so let's enjoy the game of these two legends. The hatred that fans spread about these two players or fight among themselves, maybe those two players do not exist. So we should not argue among ourselves for any player. Both are two types of players and players of different positions. So there is no point in competing between these two players. Ronaldo is known as a striker and Messi is known as a winger.

Messi is far ahead of Ronaldo and his contribution to the Argentina team is a lot . Portugal team without Ronaldo and Argentina team without Messi are almost the same strong. But when it comes to Messi, we see goal scoring, assists, dribbling in Argentina team and we see many strong teams losing to Argentina. Argentina also became world champion, Messi got the chance to play in World Cup final 3 times.

But I don't really see any contribution from Ronaldo, where he scored a goal with his own effort, made an assist which was incredible and that made another player score a goal and Portugal won. Portugal has some players that are good enough, but they still don't have the qualifications to be World Cup champion. And Argentina only advances on Messi's contribution alone.
Exactly that what I want to tell him. Messi is far better than Cristiano Ronaldo wether it's come to club or international. In both Messi was far better than him like his contribution regarding through the team is absolutely incredible. Every time we see a lot that Messi work for his team rather than individual despite Cristiano Ronaldo also was superly independent on team.....

So that's why I am picking up Messi is great contributer for his team like in recent World Cup we see that Messi was top goal scorers as well as top assistor despite his team have a lot of quality players but still Messi was dominant. So it's clearly indicates us that Messi departure will be much more effective for Argentina. Despite Ronaldo departure will not make too much impact.

Many people are so quick to forget Ronaldo in his prime how he made good impact in his national team, in his club. People only rate him with his present state of performance. If we say Ronaldo never made any impact in Portugal then what are we going to say him being the player with the highest goal. And what are going to say about his winning mentality in the team. Jis passion was the kind that affected other teammates.  Achievement is not about the numbers of trophies thst has been won but the positive impact and which Ronaldo have in the team and we need to appreciate it.

I remembered a video I saw on social media where a kid was guessing the flags of different countries. When asked by the MC which country a flag belonged to, he would immediately name the country, but when asked about Portugal's flag, he didn’t say Portugal—he answered Ronaldo. What I mean is, a lot of people, even kids around the world, know Portugal because of Ronaldo. Well, it’s similar with the Portugal national team Ronaldo contribution to Portugal shouldn’t be underestimated, even though he hasn’t won a World Cup.

Portugal before the Ronaldo era had never even reached the semifinals in a major competition, let alone the final. In fact if I'm not mistaken, before Ronaldo time, Portugal was often an underdog in every competition, so it's very wrong to say that Ronaldo hasn't contributed much to Portugal just by looking at his current performance with Portugal which sometimes even becomes a burden for the team. Ronaldo contribution to Portugal isn't just winning the Euro trophy, but he also raised the level of Portuguese football, boosting the confidence and motivation of every young Portuguese player. You could say he became an inspiration for every young generation in Portugal.

Definitely this player has changed the history of Portugal, but you notice that he is the highest goal scorer of Portugal as this player has scored 146 goals for Portugal. In fact, he may not have won a World Cup trophy like Messi, but we all see he is very close to touching the milestone of one thousand goals, having scored 979 goals.

Both players are extremely good. What I'm saying is that one had more help than the other. Messi has had multiple forms of assistance; the Qatar World Cup was a prime example of how much help he received. This World Cup, however, the help wasn't what they wanted because Infante's abuse of power and bias in decision-making was exposed. It would have been the last straw if they had given him another World Cup.

Cristiano is a player who had everything much harder. Going against FIFA, forging his own path that went against FIFA's interests is what everyone should see. Now, with the 2027 Ballon d'Or, Messi will surely win it.

You could say he became an inspiration for every young generation in Portugal.
Small correction here, but in '66 Eusebio literally took them to third place. And the Figo generation had a Euro semi too. So, it is not like they were invisible before. But those were like flash, man. If it was a good tournament, then nothing for years. It was always "good for one season, and then gone".

What Ronaldo changed was not the talent level. Portugal has never lacked of talent, it was the consistency. Every four years you knew that Portugal would be there. That shift sounds boring but it is actually massive.

The "inspiration for young players" thing, yes, that is definitely true, but the way that played out is kind of ironic? They sort of grew up knowing that they had to fit him in late in their careers, like the best players of the current generation. Goncalo Ramos scores a hat-trick the literal first time he starts a World Cup game without Ronaldo. First time.

And Fernandes is a different player internationally when Ronaldo is not there. It is common knowledge to anyone who follows Portuguese football.

So the legacy is real. The story of the flag kid is true. Portuguese football is changing for real. All of it. I am just saying the most Ronaldo thing he ever did for Portugal might be what happens after he is gone. The generation he indirectly funded and accidentally suppressed is about to run riot. And nobody's going to give him credit for that either. Which is fair, fair to say.

Life is all about privilege, opportunity and destiny, so for us we have seen alot of kids who are doing greatly well in international football and are originating from any where in the world, I understand the opportunity that are bound in Europe, but then we can't say that same opportunities are not available to other kids in other part of the world like Africa that you mentioned, and for this reason, I don't agree with the assumptions that kids have better opportunities based on their locations, but opportunities are gotten based on how prepared the individual is and positioned to attrack such an opportunity.

I believe that those who are most hungry ultimately show it on the field, and those who come from a dangerous situation of hardship do everything they can to get out of it, and i think that African players have an edge precisely for this reason, for the desire to go and conquer freedom and victory, not like the others who don't care.

Let me just say that they have both made an impact in one way or the other and they are both unique in their own ways. These are two different individuals and different qualities and talents, even though they still have some things in common but you can't expect them to do the same, one might be better than the other but not not acknowledging or talking down on one of these players because the other performance is not ideal. They are both impressive and are playing  for passion but their individual qualities and talents are different, we need to admit that and just respect them for the memories they have given us and now we can not find players like them again because football has evolved, it is now about team depth and team work not about individual brilliance anymore and that's the more reason we should respect them than comparing them. My opinion though.

I'm telling you it works this way because I'm currently in the USA, and in my home country of Venezuela, there aren't many opportunities for very talented kids. They might go to certain championships, and they might even be invited to play in Spain to be scouted, but they don't succeed. These are kids with a lot of talent, but they don't have opportunities. In fact, those kids who are lucky enough to play in championships in other countries do so because their parents can afford those trips.

The country's football federation and the government don't give them a single dollar to represent them, so if that doesn't represent support, I don't know what you're talking about.

Well till now from my experience, Most of the ronaldo fans are his fans from things beside football, its either because of his “edits” on social media, because of his followers, because of his body or because of his arrogant personality and those fans don’t even know the F of football. I once asked a ronaldo fan what the offside rule was and he looked at me like i asked about some rocket science, so yeah these type of people are the one which are his fans. Any football fan will know that messi is far more superior football career wise and he is incomparable. The only true football and Ronaldo fans are those who say messi is better but we prefer ronaldo. In my eyes that is the most respectable football/ronaldo fan to me

I agree with you in some point . But I want to say  that Messi's individual performance was good. He even performed well in the World Cup. But if we talk about the Ballon d'Or, then in case of Messi, the team performance was also good, but considering the trophies, he could not win the World Cup. If Argentina had won the World Cup, then Messi would have definitely won the Ballon d'Or. Now Ronaldo is quite behind in terms of getting the Ballon d'Or, but if Spain wins the World Cup and Yamal is currently performing quite well for Barcelona and scoring goals, this will give him a lot of advantage. But the voting can be manipulated. Because Messi has already announced his retirement from the national team, if its  seen that voting with this sympathy, then maybe Messi can get the Ballon d'Or. But I do not think it will happen . And many people criticize this Ballon d'Or too because of thinking about manipulating and fake judgment . Considering all these aspects, I want the player who is really worthy to win the voting and win the Ballon d'Or.

When it comes to this man, there’s no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo truly inspires so many people around the world, he embodies not only hard work but also extraordinary consistency. Anyone can become a soccer player, but not everyone can maintain the level of consistency that he has. Just imagine at 41 years old, he still has precise finishing and the ability to find openings to score goals.

For Portugal, he has dedicated his entire life to helping build a strong team mentality and has made a huge contribution to the many trophies the country has won. I’m sure that during the World Cup, the majority of those supporting Portugal are Cristiano Ronaldo fans. We’ll see, once he retires, Portugal will certainly lose a great deal.

As unsaid. Messi is a player who played exclusively for Barcelona, where he found teammates who were absolute phenomena. Not to belittle him, because he wrote the history of the club, but he found himself in a more comfortable situation. Ronaldo had to grow from a formidable United, he moved to a formidable Real Madrid, but where he was always the best, and then moved to Juventus without ever denying himself, also becoming the top scorer in the Italian top flight and this says a lot.

.......

I don't want to make a difference between the two of them. Both of them played great in their respective situations. On the one hand, Messi's biggest achievement is the World Cup. He even ended Argentina's long wait and won the World Cup. Again, if we talk about Ronaldo, he also plays very attractively and can make decisions even in difficult times. Not only in the World Cup, but also in other matches, he has turned the tide of the match even in bad situations. Ronaldo's biggest contribution is that he has brought long-term changes to Portuguese football. Although Portugal did well in some big tournaments before Ronaldo came, Portugal won Euro 2016 and the UEFA Nations League after Ronaldo came.

I don't want to make a difference between them. Nowadays, no football team depends on just one person. In Argentina, players like Messi, Di Maria, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez have played an important role. Similarly, in Portugal, along with Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and other players have increased the quality of the team.

Cristiano is a player who had everything much harder. Going against FIFA, forging his own path that went against FIFA's interests is what everyone should see. Now, with the 2027 Ballon d'Or, Messi will surely win it.

This is why it is said that Argentina and FIFA loves Messi, while the world loves Ronaldo. Because Ronaldo has always had to sweat it all out. We see that there is a clear favoritism on the part of FIFA for Messi, while Ronaldo has always been seen with envious eyes, making him appear arrogant, etc. But Ronaldo is simply a self-made man who has never been given anything.

Cristiano Ronaldo incredible feat will forever be remembered by the world. He could have reached the 1000 goal milestone much earlier if he had been playing for a big club in Europe till today. He is scoring goals in the Saudi league but if his teammates were more talented and assist for goal, he would have been able to score as more goals as he has. The talented Portuguese player will probably be able to show his skills for many more years because his physique is still strong and he is less to injuries. Cristiano Ronaldo probably feels one regret and that is not being able to win the World Cup football trophy for his country. He may announce his retirement before the next World Cup and his expectations will remain unfulfilled.

Precisely, they are both two living legends. If you are a Ronaldo fan you don't necessarily have to criticize Messi. If you are a Messi fan you don't necessarily have to criticize Ronaldo. its right that you have your idol, but its not right to belittle the other just because you prefer someone else.

Ronaldo achieved things that Messi did not achieve, just as Messi achieved things that Ronaldo did not achieve. There is no right answer to who is the strongest in the world.

Fans are the real problem of the game of entertainment. This game is something that we have to enjoy the talents as they last. Funnily, soon the two players will retire from the game , then I will know if they will switch to Mbappe -Yamal rivalry or whether we will then understand that these talents don't last forever. I love the two players because they are both great. The performance that Lionel Messi put up in the last world cup was mind blowing, too beautiful for a 39 years old. We all enjoyed the game. Ronaldo too, even though his team was not as strong as that of the Argentina, but the entire world felt his presence.

Both players have their lead over each other, as Messi has the highest Balon d'Or winnings, Ronaldo has the highest Nominations. As Ronaldo has more goals, Messi has more assists and the list goes on and on.

These are incredible stats that should blow the world in awe because they have controlled the game for almost 2 decades and counting. Each of them compliments the other and even help bring out the best from each of them. But fans try to belittle another for their own ego even when the players behind the scenes could be best of friends.

I don't understand how it is possible to criticize a player like that. Portugal, before Cristiano Ronaldo, had never achieved anything and i don't even remember how few times they qualified for the World Cup. Since Ronaldo arrived, he has never missed a single World Cup qualification, won a European Championship and some other noteworthy national awards, bringing prestige to the Portuguese national team. an extraordinary player.
