I believe that Messi is truly a phenomenon without equal, but i also believe that there is no Messi without Ronaldo and that the two without wanting to have created an unprecedented epic challenge, constantly stimulating each other, which is why i don't feel like saying who is the best and that Messi is better than Ronaldo, they are both great.

Ronaldo hasn't played in Portuguese clubs in many years and I obviously meant that people support fellow countrymen playing outside their motherlands, it was clearly implied. So for you people support foreign teams just because a fellow countryman is playing for them? Can I ask you where are you from? Because I really struggle to understand this kind of reasoning. I'm Italian, and I would never think about supporting another team just because another Italian guy is playing for them. And I'm pretty sure Portuguese people don't give a damn about Al Nassr just because Ronaldo is playing for them. If you're from Italy, then it explains everything. You always had one of the strongest teams in the world, as well as the strongest league in the world. Now imagine what a person from, say, Poland feels when they see Lewandowski taking over the world football by storm. Or Norwegians seeing what Haalland does. Or Georgians with Khvaeatskhelia? Those people never had a luxury of their domestic league being among elite ones, nor their national teams ever had major success. For them, their celebrity players succeeding abroad is the source of national pride and interest in football.

Well, it doesn't make sense.... It's is absolutely impossible for Messi to win the Balloon d'Or although he has an extraordinary performance at World Cup tournament and even in MSL too. But you should need to understand that Balloon d'Or always been handed to those who have good individual performance in big competition such World Cup, UEFA champions league etc. if Messi was the winner of 2026 World Cup then probably he will have a higher probabilities but right now for me it's just a partial shade.....
Besides that I will also elobrate it more that no doubt that Messi is a player we deeply respect. His contribution for football is unparalleled and we certainly will appreciate him. However because of the final like he lost the final. So that's why Messi doesnt deserve the Ballon dOr. it would be more appropriate to give it to Lamine Yamal.
if they were to let Messi win the Ballon d'Or it would be absolutely theft, i don't even realize what could happen if they granted this grace to Messi, considering that many Ballon d'Ors have been given to the Argentinian in recent years, it would be a real shame to see another scam like this, i still consider Messi one of the best in history

It seems to me that many people are linking the debate between Messi and Ronaldo, who is the best with their personal identity. When a person supports a player for a long time, it becomes part of their personal identity. When someone else speaks against their favorite player they think it is speaking against themselves. Even if those statements are true and logical, they cannot accept it easily. When these things happen to someone in real life negative reactions can still be seen. When happen online, they are also visible through opinions, reactions and posts.
I notice these things more on social media than on forum. Because since no one discusses completely irrelevant issues on forums, but social media is free for everyone, there are many negative aspects to be highlighted there.
yeah the debate will continue for a long time, even in the next few years most likely, we are still talking about the best footballers ever, i believe we will never see such a dualism for many years, or most likely we will never see it again at this high level, i enjoyed them while they were there.

But it is impossible to imagine Messi performing like this with his talent at the last moment of his career. Now Messi has taken his position to such a level that there is no one else as his rival. Ronaldo and Messi were very close at one time. But in the last few years, Ronaldo's performance has deteriorated a lot. And at a time when Messi has strengthened his position even more. Now Messi has retired from the national team. He has retired from the national team at the best time of his career. Where we have seen many players in the past, the moment their ability and skills decrease and their performance drops, they would retire from playing football at a certain age. But Messi is completely different. He is considered the best performer at any time, whether it is in the past, present or as long as he is in football, at some point in the future. So there is no comparison with Messi at the moment.

That is very correct, ronaldo had come really close to messi and they both had a great rivalry but after his move to juventus the difference between messi and him has been increasing further and further, messi has kept performing more irrespective of league, club or nation and has shocked many minds. He has upheld his quality even in this age and Ronaldo at the other emd has been in the delusion till now that he is better than messi at some extent but that isnt the case and messi is way ahead than ronaldo.

Obviously, since the most important football is played in Europe, it is difficult to think that an investor in Africa would decide to invest in the African leagues, because all the players from there want to go where the football that counts is. And until Africa starts thinking that way, players will continue to follow the flow of money and the bigger game.
I think that the investments in sports like football are not only related to the interest of playing there, but also to the overall development. As countries get more developed and financially stronger they also start investing more in sports like that. I don't think there is a country that is less developed but that has proportionally very large investments in sports compared to some developed countries. It does make sense because there are many problems that countries have to deal with and find the money for all of that. There is nothing controversial about Messi and Ronaldo because both are the best players. You may be a supporter of another team but you can never deny Messi and Ronaldo as the best players and you can never deny that their game is interesting and takes a place in everyone's heart no matter which team you support. You mean to talk in the past tense and not in the present tense? They are old now and their game is not that great like they used to be, it is time for those players like Messi and Ronaldo to retire. They should have already retired but for some reason sometimes they refuse to let go and accept that their time has past. The peak career in sports is usually very short sadly, I guess that could be why many have issues letting go. It is like if you became a famous artist and were very popular only for a few years and then later you are not that relevant anymore. If we are considering the Cup in 2030 that is 4 years from now, they should not be playing at all and should let newer generations have a chance. There is also some selfishness of taking away a position of the newer generations when these decisions are being made.

Both are great players, we acknowledge both and do not cancel one. Honestly, I ca not say who is better than the other.... Ronaldo is a player who built a very consistent career, was the best player for a many years, but Messi surprised the world in recent years... they are different styles of "football stars", but what nobody can deny is that they created a statistical and symbolic standard that another player will hardly be able to repeat.... deciding games in huge matches, exceptional longevity and far above average for football and an almost absurd yearly consistency. I once read someone post here that "good players" is becoming extinct (sorry, I looked for it but could npt find who said), but I disagree... I think that in fact the development of good players will bring us many surprises soon and my main picks for this are to keep an eye on youth players from Benfica, Barcelona, River Plate, Ajax, Boca Juniors and Sporting. I would bet in Brazil too, but despite us having good talents here, unfortunately they do npt get the oportunities they deserve.

Is there any doubts Messi is the best player in the world? I see he was much more decisive for Argentina along the history of world cups than Ronaldo for Portugal. It's not about having an opinion, but about analyzing the matches with facts. Ronaldo was constantly in the rival's area, just waiting a ball from his fellow to score the goal, while Messi was constantly moving from every position to position on the field to build the plays in the best way as possible to take his national team to victory.
Ronaldo is a good player, but Messi is a more complete player, since he can move into different positions and be efficient in all of them. Results of each teams speak for themselves.
Look, I don't have a personal preference because they are both incredible players in their own way but if we're talking about who is a more complete player, than I would say Ronaldo for sure: he uses both feet, he has an incredible elevation, he runs a lot, and he is tall and physically strong. Messi is literally the opposite: small physique, only uses the left foot, barely scores any headers. As I said before, they are both incredible in their own way because Messi was born with a gift, the things he does on the pitch are insane. Ronaldo got there thanks to his work ethic and obsession to be the best. Messi would still be Messi without even training; Ronaldo without training wouldn't be Ronaldo if you know what I mean. And I'm sure their rivalry really pushed them both to their limits. A Messi without Ronaldo, or the other way around, would have been way less fun for all of us.

Both are very good players. And there is no need to criticize them according to their overall condition. But if we talk about comparisons, then it was until he won the Copa America and World Cup. Now if the entire football world considers anyone as the greatest after Messi, it is Ronaldo and currently Ronaldo should consider this as his success. And for a long time, there has been a debate among people about who is better between Ronaldo and Messi, and Ronaldo should also see this positively that people are comparing him with the greatest player on earth Lionel Messi. This at least proves that Ronaldo has performed such a performance that has forced the football world to compare him with the highest level player Messi. Overall Messi is the best, there is no doubt about it, but Messi had some qualities that were not seen in Ronaldo and Ronaldo had some good aspects that Messi did not have. And in the future, when people discuss Messi, they will also mention Ronaldo. So Ronaldo's fans have nothing to be sad about. Right now, there are many popular players around the world who feel proud of being able to play with Messi. They consider themselves great because they are playing a match with Messi or they have participated in a match as an opponent.

I hope things turn out that way, but what I can think is that Lamine doesn't deserve it either. You know who deserves it if they're going to give it to a Barcelona player? Raphinha. But he's not nominated; he's the top scorer in La Liga despite all the controversies surrounding refereeing decisions.
This Ballon d'Or is going to attract a lot of attention because, given the state of football, it will be ripe for a lot of criticism, and rightly so. This time, journalists don't have it so easy with all the fans scrutinizing every decision they make.
Indeed, it is a unique trophy that is given to the player for his performance. I don't believe, as Mbappé reported, that credit should be given to those who win more competitions, because players like Haaland, who perhaps has more difficulty getting results with the national team, will never win the Ballon d'Or, despite being a player who would greatly deserve it. Therefore the player should be rewarded for what he does and not for what he achieves.

Yes, I also think they aren’t really proper supporters. For example, there’s this rumour going round that it looks as though Messi might play a couple of seasons for Newell’s Old Boys; naturally, attention will shift to that small team from Rosario and the Rosario derby will attract a lot of interest because Angel Di María is playing for the other local team, but they won’t be new supporters because once Messi has gone, the team will return to its true supporters. The same goes for Al Nassr: once Ronaldo has gone, only a small group will be left supporting them.

That's why this award is all about commitments and promises to be made by those most interested. The elite who run football are the ones who decide. In the end, they say it's the journalists, but we all know here that things aren't handled as transparently as they're portrayed in the media. All that stuff about how the players talk about the Ballon d'Or, selling themselves out, is what people really like.

There is a messi without ronaldo but no ronaldo without messi, as much as Ronaldo doesnt want to accept that messi has pushed him to become a better player the clearer it is for us to see that it is such. Messi always pushed Ronaldo to perform better by performing good himself and by seeing messi perform well Ronaldo would out in the work that has made ronaldo better. But messi, he has naturally been always better so he didn’t need ronaldo to push him more,

Now Ronaldo is only focused on getting those 1000 goals and that is currently all that he wants. Their battle ended already a few years ago and i think they are now just enjoying football and we will be only able to watch them just for a few more seasons maybe not even that.
