It's true, Spain now plays very similarly to that Brazil of many years ago. Perhaps because so many players have gone to Europe, they already know their style and create their own mix to be effective. That happens a lot, so in Brazil and Argentina there has to be that they shouldn't lose their style. Brazil's style used to be much more prominent than other styles of play, since Brazil has already won quite a few world championships, but now the new generations don't care much about football anymore.

I completely disagree with what you're saying. That is, Spain plays a similar game to Brazil's years ago. i completely disagree. Spain has always played a static tiki-taka style of play, with a lot of ball possession in the opposition's penalty area, which made the game clean but monotonous, while Brazil played a completely free style of play that made your head spin.

Your explanation just shows that you've been watching Brazil for a long time and you really know their style of play and you are right. Brazil plays fancy football, we experienced it during the time of Ronaldinho, even Neymar is also a good example if not that the major parts of his football career was marred with injuries. Spain always want to be in possession of the ball for a very long time which is why they always win in ball possession in most of their matches even if they don't score a lot of goals. The match between Spain versus Argentina in the world cup final is a good example because Spain possess the ball from starting to finish.

What do you mean by "new players will also appear"? We had teams like Uzbekistan, Jordan, Tunisia, South Africa, New Zealand, Panama, Haiti, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, just to name the first ones that came to mind, that are just a bunch of unknown players, and they made basically zero impact during the tournament. I challenge people to name one single player for each team. 99% of the people wouldn't be able to do it.
For me this expanded version was extremely boring until the knockout stage, we had a bunch of boring and useless matches. I was surely intrigued by Curaçao and Cape Verde but it's nice when there are a few underdog teams, not 10-12.

Hey, what about Khusanov from Uzbekistan - the one everyone (theoretically) already knows?  Cool
But of course I'm joking, he only became famous because he made it to the Premier League, I can't name a single player from the teams (at least quickly without thinking) from those teams that you listed.
And yes, the group stage of the final stage of the World Cup, where out of 12 groups, only in 4 groups 2 teams are eliminated, and in the remaining 8 groups, 3 teams out of 4 make it to the playoffs, is pure satanism and mockery.

I don't know how old you are but Brazil used to have incredibly talented players such as Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adriano and Kakà: these were players that could literally change the game thanks to their ability to think outside of the box. You had Ronaldo or Ronaldinho in front of you, you had no idea what was going to happen. After these players who did we have? Neymar was the last real Brazilian in my opinion. And then they just kept losing their identity because 20 years ago players like Vinicius or Rodrygo, who many consider star players, wouldn't have played even a single friendly match for Brazil.
So my question for you is: do you know how Brazil used to play?

Sure, but I don't see how that's relevant in this case.

In reality, if we then look at the quality of the players, there hasn't been such a dramatic change. Without a doubt, the players of the past were in a completely different league, but even the current players, like Neymar, Casemiro, Vinicius, or Raphinha, aren't unwatchable by comparison; on the contrary, they're very strong.

It's just that Brazil has lost its identity and moved closer to a European style of football that doesn't represent them.

FIFA doesn't just appoint nations to host the world cup just like that, they don't just allow countries because they are desperate instead there is a procedure for appointing a team and every interested team needs to submit a bid and meet all the requirements before being allowed to host a world cup. The FIFA bodies delegate on the countries and decide on which meets all the requirements and are worthy of being a host.
Any host is supposed to conduct a free and fair tournament free from rigging but sometimes the referees are human and are bound to make mistakes too which the host can't control how matches are officiated.

But a World Cup should actually be played in a single country that welcomes all the nationalities that will represent their teams abroad. This is what happened in the 2006 World Cup, for example, and not across multiple countries, which also makes organizing the event itself much more complicated.

As for Spain, this is there era and in the coming euros and the world cup, they will still stand as the potential worthy of both tournament.
Here in the forum they say that the best and most demanding league is the English Premier League, but seeing as Spain wins everything every time it competes, isn't La Liga the best? Logic is proving it, so that title of the most difficult league in Europe is already in Spain's hands. That is to say: La Liga, without a doubt, as things stand, is the best in the world, right? But since Chelsea won the Club World Cup, I think there might be some debate there.

Yes, I believe that Brazil is a country that is a factory for producing football kings. If we look at the past and present, we can see that one after another, Brazil has produced great stars. After a great star retires, Brazil has never had to worry about who will take that place and which player will take that place. But if we look at all the other teams, if their great players retire, it becomes very difficult for them to find a replacement for that player, like in the case of Argentina, it has become very difficult for them to find a replacement for Messi.

My father used say that people said the same thing when Maradona stoped playing... that Argentina would never be the same again, and look what happened in recent years....
The same thing with Brazil after Pelé, and look what happened some years later (even though Brazil declined a lot in the last decade, we won some World Cups after Pelé).

Not team dies when a good player retires, South America will continue producing and revealing many talented players to the world.

Yes, but i think there are different ways of looking at this, because Maradona was certainly a great player at the time, if not the greatest player in history. But football has modernized, its changed a lot, and Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have had a much more significant and significant impact. And this was also evident in the media and in the fact that they made history together for twenty years. i don't think a similar era will ever return.

It is absolutely true that Brazil played very well under Ronaldinho, which allowed them to win the World Cup, but currently Brazil is not able to return to its previous rhythm, which we can understand by watching the 2026 World Cup, but we expect Brazil to perform even better in the 2030 World Cup. Neymar plays well, but we did not see his surprise in the 2026 World Cup due to injuries most of the time.

Spain is definitely a strong team it is quite clear, Spain feel more comfortable keeping the ball for a long time, they want the opposing team to be disappointed and they will take advantage of this opportunity and win the game. When a team can keep the ball in their own half for most of the match, it increases the confidence of the players, which makes it easier for them to win the match.

Time will tell when their reign will come to a stop, because there were times when Brazil, Argentina, and Italy were unstoppable in any World Cup tournament, but today we find them not to be those dominant teams when it's about lifting any World Cup tournament of any kind. Now, Spain has taken over, and it seems their reign in any World Cup tournament will remain in their favor because of the pattern of play they have and the players on their team.

I want to put it to you that a  country team will one day take over from Spain, and their reign in any World Cup tournament will remain for a while before another country team takes over(turn by turn)

Without Messi in the team, it will be difficult for the Argentina team to maintain the proper standards at this time. For the past few years, the team has been dependent on Messi. We have seen the same in the last World Cup. Messi has always played an important role in the team's needs. But he also has to leave. Those who played depending on him now need to build self-confidence in themselves. It is not that the Argentina team does not have good players, but they have not shown anything good yet. In most cases, what has been achieved, Messi's contribution has been shown.

In Messi's absence, several players will have to take responsibility in the Argentina national team, especially Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martínez, Enzo Fernandez and Rodrigo De Paul. If they can build themselves in that way, the team will be able to maintain their reputation to some extent. It is possible to estimate how far the team can go by reviewing how they perform without Messi.

What you said is just the obvious truth, because for the past roughly two decades, since Messi started his football career in 2005 and when he joined the national team, the Argentine team has been playing under the influence of Lionel Messi, and if he retires, it'll definitely take them roughly two years to become a stable and formidable team again because looking at the team now, there's no Agüero or Di Maria, who can shoulder the Argentine team without the presence of Lionel Messi.

When multiple countries host, the cost and infrastructure burden can be shared. But there is a dilemma among many about the 2030 World Cup. Many think that the 2030 World Cup will be equally shared by six countries. In fact, Morocco, Portugal and Spain are the main hosts. 101 matches will be held in these three countries. Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay are only supposed to have one match each as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the first World Cup. So the main reason for bringing together the three South American countries is not workload sharing, but historical celebration.

This is definitely true. I am eager to see Messi retire from playing in his national team so that, we can confirm if truly his absence will be a disaster to the team during that period of not, because some people are saying that Argentina have other players to move the team forward.

Messi is their backbone and you can imagine, what will happen if he retires. It will take them time to balance the team performance again.

Haha I knew somebody would have named Khusanov, that was the easiest one at the end Grin I also knew Tim Payne from New Zealand because of this crazy story in case you missed it: https://www.foxsports.com/stories/soccer/world-cup-tim-payne-new-zealand-instagram

With all these teams my interest in the World Cup, at least at the beginning, has dropped. I never thought I would say something like this, since I was a kid the World Cup has always been the most special and unique competition among all sports for me. And yet they managed to ruin it...

The question is not how, but when

What made you feel that it will take Argentina team two years for them to become stable and formidable? Did you forget about 2024 Copa America, where Messi had only one goal but the team played well and Lautaro Martinez was outstanding in that tournament. Even in the final, Messi got injured but Argentina were still able to secure a victory. So I don't think this Argentina team has any problem, they have a great coach, young players who are doing well in Europe. The only thing I feel this team will miss is Messi's leadership and impact he plays in the heart of this players. This Argentina team can perform well with or without Lionel Messi. I am just happy Leo left the team in a good shape, my own concern now is watching him Play his last match on October 6.

Argentina can always do well even without Messi in the team because they have good players that are performing well. When Messi is in the game the rest players dont depend on him , they all contribute to make sure the team wins. Argentina is one of the team that is loaded with players full of talent. Even before Messi joins the Argentina national team i have alwsys heard of Argentina as one of the interesting team in the world cup. I feel Argentina as a country value football so much and this why they always produce talents.
Yes that’s just the fact Argentina can still do better than even our expectations without Messi, but i don’t know why most people use to think that if there’s not Messi the team will not get a positive result from their match. I only agree that Messi always contributes a lots of efforts whenever their team is playing match, honestly Argentina are full with better squad that they don’t depend on the Messi only but generally talented players who are more consistent to fight for the team.

It's just that Brazil has lost its identity and moved closer to a European style of football that doesn't represent them.

They've just lost the Jogo Bonito style that they've always been proud of. The last player who had this style was Neymar, which is why he was called "The Last Jogo Bonito." After that, most Brazilian players nowadays have been influenced by a more modern European style of football. This shift has made their game more structured, but they've lost their creativity, which used to be their trademark. Honestly, it's kind of a shame, but anyway, I guess that's just how their football evolves.

This is the reason why i see those who say that Argentina will be nothing without Lionel Messi as people who are blind or they probably didn't read about the history of Argentina to know that they have always been reproducing great talents. The end of one era can open way for another, this is why i believe that Argentina will not end with Lionel Messi. Just look at the players that you listed out which are all great talents from Argentina. I just flashed back how Di Maria was also very contributive during his prime. Even at the 2022 World Cup, Di Maria tried a lot for Argentina and they won.

You just reminded me of Pelé, I almost forgot he was a Brazilian too. The Brazilian team actually had the best players in football history but I wonder what happened wrongly that they have become so invincible for years now.
World class players will keep emerging from South America because they play good football and I don't think that there are many corruption cases in South America football. Argentina and Brazil are the major producers of legendary players and they will continue to produce great players. Brazil might have dropped in producing world class players but that doesn't mean that they don't have quality players in their squad. It's just that they haven't had any stand out player that has reached the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. As the era of one outstanding player ends, another player will arise and this is just it.

Losing a big players is always been a distraction for team. The departure of Messi will be absolutely nightmare for Argentina because he was the only man to rescue his team in every single situation like he was just the plugin of midcore. Most often we see build start by him and finished by him and sometimes the opponent triggered it for spot. So form last two decades he was carrying his team in every situation. So definitely his absence will bring up some buffer in terms strength......

I know many of you will be arguing that Argentina have legacy of good players. After Maradon they meet Messi and after Messi they seek someone else or blah blah blah. But here I will tell you something more. Brazil was the hub of talent but til now they never produce a players who can help his team to win the title from last 15 years even Neymar was considered great but he got flop and still they are feeling the lack of strong players.

So similarly Argentina will never be able to produce a players like Messi

For me I think the biggest controversy with this Argentina team would be even the World Cup before the recently concluded one which is the world cup at Qatar 2018 and still same semi-finals match up between the Netherlands and Argentina. That game was pure controversy all through, if you can recall Messi had to stop the ball with his hands mate and the referee didn't actually do anything and the entire Netherland team were in shock of the decision.

I want to be transparent and out myself as a Messi fan, nevertheless I agree with many of you guys here who say that Argentina took it quite a bit too far in many of the matches with their aggression and their tendency to disturb the referees, force lengthy discussions, even mobbing he referee with several players walking towards him, delaying matches intentionally, playing hard fouls that were on the edge towards a red card several times, early pack formations like against England. I don't like that and while I know some teams use this as a strategy, for example like Atletico Madrid and it is no surprise that Argentina has several Atletico players, there is a limit to everything. If it is one of their elements in matches, ok then so be it, but the focus should still be on playing football and that is where I understand the criticism that some people complained about Argentina provoking too many unnecessary interruptions just to disturb their opponents.
