The void of Messi will definitely affect Argentina and finding a replacement for Messi will definitely be a very difficult task for Argentina. But if we continue to see such a good relationship and mutual understanding between the team as it is now, then the void of Messi will definitely not be felt by the Argentina team very much. Because Cristiano Ronaldo is a very good player, but we have seen a good relationship between their team which has created a lot of influence on the field. That is why we can hope that if they can maintain this relationship between them, then we will definitely see something good.

The good thing is that people like he never manage to completely say goodbye to the field, and that is normal... as much the body can no longer physically handle the demands of a match, the knowledge he has acquired can be used to other things and Messi once said that he wants to have his own team.
No one will "miss" Messi, he has a contract with Inter Miami until the end of 2028, I think he will stay there until the end, or am I wrong?

And besides that, Messi will probably also become an "ambassador" of Argentina national team, representing the national team in events, campaigns and partnerships, just like what happened with David Beckham, Zidane, Del Piero, Xavi.... he will continue to be among us, he will just "make room" to new talents.

Why can't Brazil find their own Messi? You get a player like Messi every 20 years, we are possibly talking about the biggest football player ever. Neymar was an extremely good player but he got injured very often. Also, to be honest, he wasn't exactly super professional. I think he made a big mistake when he left Barcelona for PSG: despite the very good numbers in France too, since he moved his career took a step back.
Brasil don't need a Messi to win the world cup, when they did back then, they didn't have a Maradona. They had other quality players that were goal minded. Let's review their 2002 squad and compare it to those that went for 2026 world cup
2002 Squad:
Marcos, Cafu, Lúcio, Roque Júnior, Edmílson, Roberto Carlos, Ricardinho, Gilberto Silva, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Dida, Juliano Belletti, Ânderson Polga, Kléberson, Júnior, Denílson, Vampeta, Juninho Paulista, Edílson, Luizão, Rogério Ceni, Kaká

2026 squad
Alisson Becker, Ederson, Weverton, Alex Sandro, Bremer, Danilo, Douglas Santos, Gabriel Magalhães, Roger Ibañez, Léo Pereira, Marquinhos, Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, Danilo Santos, Éderson, Fabinho, Lucas Paquetá, Endrick, Gabriel Martinelli, Igor Thiago, Luiz Henrique, Matheus Cunha, Neymar, Raphinha, Rayan, Vinícius Júnior

If you look carefully, you'll see that the squad are not comparable, more reason I'm suggesting it's been politicized. Some of the players in the 2026 squad are just average players that would never have received call ups in 2002.
Not sure how old you are but the players I marked in bold where amongst the best in the world in 2002. Brazil never had "a Maradona" (besides Pele, but I'm sure none of us ever saw him playing) but instead they had several star players. Back in 1986 Argentina had a very good team of course but Maradona was the real star. With Brazil we always saw several stars at the same time, especially in 2002 when basically half of the team could scored a goal because they were all so good. So I agree with those who said that Brazil never really needed a Messi.

Oh, just to avoid any misinterpretation of my post: I marked only the super good players from 2002 because they had a bunch of other very good players.

You said quite easily to find “another” Messi. Messi is a freak of nature who has given new heights to the sport of football, yes there is a good player every 20 years but in the entire history of football there hasn’t been someone like messi so how can he be “found” that easily, considering he hasnt even retired fully from the sport. There will be a player that will resemble messi but it will be very hard to reach the stage messi has reached. No player in the coming 20-40 years can come close to him.
Eh? I said what?

~snip
The question arises: why can't Brazil find its own Messi, a player capable of leading them to the title?

That's because it's almost difficult to find something close to what Messi is. Even if Neymar wasn't an injury prone player, I don't think he would have been able to lead the Brazil team to glory. The thing is, being a very good player, and having a good leadership skills are two different things, and having both is very rare. Being a good team leader that can lead a team to glory comes with a lot of responsibilities than we actually think.

And mind you, It's far much easier for a team to compete when they have a leader they can rely on especially during key moments, rather than a leader who relies heavily on the team. Neymar is a great talent, but there are players who actually perform better without a leadership role, and he's one of them.

Yes, I can agree with this.
For any success in any competition, it is important to have a strong and stable team, which has self-confidence and determination, but it is also important that the team has a leader who will lead it in difficult moments of the match.
Every time Argentina was in trouble at the World Cup, Messi took responsibility and created a turnaround each time with his extraordinary goals and assists.
Honestly, without Messi the Argentina team will no longer be the same and I don't see them as candidates for trophies in world competitions anymore, without him they are still an ordinary team.
In my opinion, Neymar had enormous talent and could have been a much better player, but his work ethic and spoiledness cost him greater success in his career.
Yes, some players can be superstars, but that doesn't mean they will become leaders and others will respect and follow them. Messi definitely gave a lot more to Argentina than Neymar to Brazil.
Just look at where a born leader like Modric led a small nation like Croatia.

Brazil has completely lost what it once was, and that's a shame, because the Brazilians have made many mistakes. For example, Ancelotti is very good, but he won't bring back the players of the past. He only works with stars. I would say he shouldn't be there anymore and they should look for a Brazilian coach. And for Brazil not to end up forgotten, it has to do something urgently: go to the favelas and start looking for talent, starting with the children, reviewing every academy and looking for the players who are very good, without fear of making extraordinary plays, and start encouraging them.

Brazil has many good players and world-class players, their problem is not good players but their problem may be somewhere else, if these problems are found and solved, then we can definitely expect to see Brazil win in the upcoming World Cup. Because if we look at the performance of almost all of Brazil's players in the league, we can see that they are the strongest players in the league and they are first-class players. If someone says at the moment that Brazil lacks talent, then I do not agree with it. It is necessary to find out where Brazil's problem is, if they can find out, then something good will definitely come out of them and I believe that Brazil will become the strongest team in the world

Yes, Brazil has that potential to win games and compete at the highest level especially during the last world cup but I am just surprised to see that they couldn't do well in the last world cup and have been struggling somehow in recent times but I believe they can do well in the coming games, if they are able to fix the problem they are having like you said, and fix their issues because it's obvious that it's an internal issue they need to resolve quickly and bring out the best in them as a team as quickly as possible.

Brazil disappoint their fans when they got eliminated so soon because tell me a team like Brazil finding difficulties in winning Norway? They got dominated and eliminated from the world cup despite them having outstanding players, it didn't just saved them. Carlo ancelotti will have to do better if he's defmeined to win something tangible with his brazil national team because it's being crystal clear they're not heading anywhere with how they perform, a very undermining performance from them.

With the likes of Raphinha and Vinicius Jr, everyone thought they will be contenders for the world cup but things didn't go as planned and they'd suffered and eliminated. I believe in the next world cup, there will be some improvement and cornering sectors that will boost the performance of the team.

They will likely improve, but sometimes I feel that while players like Raphinha and Vinicius Jr. are talented, the excessive praise they receive might be undeserved after all, their actual performances haven't been all that impressive. I also think there are young players who aren't getting a chance to shine right now, whether because coaches have overlooked them or for other reasons. I wasn't particularly fond of how Brazil played in the last tournament, though I’d like to believe things will get better for them. On top of that, I’m interested to see what happens with Argentina; seeing who steps in to replace Messi since he won't be playing anymore will be intriguing.

Raphinha is already 30 years old while Vinicius is 26. At this point they are no longer young promises, they are in their prime, and Raphinha really improved a lot after he turned 26-27 because he moved to Barcelona and found the right coach. In the past we had younger players playing way better than them. Ronaldinho was insanely good at 22, Kakà the same, Ronaldo since his 20s... The last real Brazilian we saw was, in my opinion, Neymar. After him just a lot of decent players but no stars.

Brazil has lost its rhythm and when we talk about Brazil, we think of old faces. So I agree with your statement, they should strengthen the scouting network of grassroots football across the country, provide good coaching and do their best to enhance the individual skills and creativity of young players and develop young talent without wasting it. And my opinion about Ancelotti is that he is an experienced coach but he should be considered after reviewing their past history when Brazil became five-time world champions.
Yes, Ancelotti is a great coach, but when it comes to legends, I didn't like how he treated Neymar at the World Cup. He didn't give him any playing time, he didn't play him, and look, Neymar is also an iconic player. I would have started him from the beginning until he told me he couldn't go on anymore or until I saw that his performance wasn't up to par. But I'm keeping him because we won't see him with Brazil anymore, and that's a shame. It's a disservice that old coaches do, just like they did with Cristiano in Portugal.

Ancelotti already did Neymar a huge favor calling him up for the last World Cup because during the last 3 years he barely played because he was constantly injured. And he even got injured shortly before the World Cup. And yet he brought him because the whole country wanted to see Neymar at the World Cup. So what were you expecting Ancelotti to do? Playing the World Cup with an injured player who could barely run?

Many people may forget that there is no place for emotions in football, especially in the national team and when it is a global event like the World Cup. I also think that Ancelotti showed enough respect to Neymar by calling him to the World Cup squad, but giving him match time due to injury was definitely a risky decision for Ancelotti. Even that would not have been positive for Neymar's career, giving an injury-prone player too much match time during an injury can definitely ruin a player's career. At the beginning of the World Cup, it was assumed that he would not get much match time even if he was called up to the squad, so I don't see any reason for such a debate now. Emotional decisions like those made by fans from a position of responsibility for the national team are never a sign of professionalism.

Eh? I said what?
You said that Brazil should find their “own” messi. And I replied that it isnt that easy to find another messi as he is arguably the best ever footballer to play this sport, they can have another Ronaldo, or another Cafu or another ronaldinho but another messi is just not possible.

Sometimes you have to do something like this, just so people realize that it's not the coach's fault, it's the player's. That way, no one will blame him in the future. He came on at the very end and couldn't save the game, but the way Brazil played in the World Cup was bad. They really needed Neymar's game. If they had started Neymar, even if he was exhausted, maybe things would have been different. Neymar played, and he didn't look unwell or injured, but he came on at the very end, and only for a few minutes. So that leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth, especially for a whole country like Brazil.

Honestly.... I think it is possible to recognize Neymar’s importance without concluding that he should play at any cost, because he really was not in physically fit enough to put him right at the beginning, and waiting until he could not take it anymore was npt the best decision. I also respect his history as a player, I do not question this, but I also do not think that he was "ready" to help the Brazilian national team in this last FIFA World Cup.

Anyway, I think Ancelotti only gave a Neymar this opportunity because there were several absences even before the deadline for the squad selections, otherwise Neymar would have been left out. In any case, I do not believe we will see Neymar play for the Brazilian national team again in the next FIFA World Cup, and I hope that by then Ancelotti can build a good team that brings prestige back to Brazilian football.

Eh? I said what?
You said that Brazil should find their “own” messi. And I replied that it isnt that easy to find another messi as he is arguably the best ever footballer to play this sport, they can have another Ronaldo, or another Cafu or another ronaldinho but another messi is just not possible.
This was the message you quoted, and I guess you probably didn't understand that I was repeating what the other user asked:

The question arises: why can't Brazil find its own Messi, a player capable of leading them to the title?
Why can't Brazil find their own Messi? You get a player like Messi every 20 years, we are possibly talking about the biggest football player ever. Neymar was an extremely good player but he got injured very often. Also, to be honest, he wasn't exactly super professional. I think he made a big mistake when he left Barcelona for PSG: despite the very good numbers in France too, since he moved his career took a step back.

Therefore I proceed to explain that "finding a Messi" is almost a mission impossible because there is one every 20 years. And you must hope that he was born in your country.

Brazil has lost its rhythm and when we talk about Brazil, we think of old faces. So I agree with your statement, they should strengthen the scouting network of grassroots football across the country, provide good coaching and do their best to enhance the individual skills and creativity of young players and develop young talent without wasting it. I think Ancelotti made a smart move calling Neymar because he protect himself from all the "what if" in case of Brazil's elimination with no Neymar. Basically Ancelotti insured himself from these critics.

Also, I strongly believe in the importance and presence of a locker-room leader, and I'm not talking about the captain rather than a player with experience that is well respected by his teammates. Neymar was great for this role, even without playing. It's the same role that Cristiano Ronaldo should accept in my opinion: you're with the group, you guide them, you give them confidence, and in case of necessity you're ready to help. But you can't expect to be playing all the time.

And besides that, Messi will probably also become an "ambassador" of Argentina national team, representing the national team in events, campaigns and partnerships, just like what happened with David Beckham, Zidane, Del Piero, Xavi.... he will continue to be among us, he will just "make room" to new talents.
Messi will always continue to support his teams and country, but I don't believe he will go the ambassador route like David Beckham and the rest. This doesn't mean he won't be involved in football at all after he retires, he would go to matches and events, but he would do those things on his own, not for a brand or team. I don't see him as that kind of person. I see him as somebody who would like to enjoy the free time he now has with his family. I would like it if he got involved more, because it would be nice to see him often, but I doubt it.

Lionel Messi is already played his last match for Argentina. It is absolutely confirmed that we will not see him in the World Cup and the entire Argentina team and millions of football lovers around the world have shown respect and love for Messi. Messi is still delivering his best performance. The entire team has now started planning how to move forward without him. During this time I was watching various negative news about Ronaldo. Where after two of them became the best of all time, the entire football world is showing emotion and respect for one of them, on the other hand Ronaldo is suffering from many types of frustration by his own team  and Portugal also get disturbed about  recent activities of Ronaldo.

Performance of Ronaldo has dropped compared to before but his contribution is not to be forgotten. I saw in another recent news that he admitted his mistake for his overall activity and he wants Portugal to punish him but he will not go to retirement . That means he still wants to do something good for Portugal and Portugal should take this attitude into consideration and discuss how to use his experience to improve the team's performance. But I think there's a lot of distance between him and the Portugal team. Which was completely unnecessary at the end of his career.

Realistically, we can't talk about Brazil's problem at the last World Cup.
Brazil was last world champion back in 2002, and after that, although they always came as favorites to the next 6 World Cups, over the past 22 years, they never played in the final or came close to winning the world championship title again.
So, we can't talk about a lack of luck, talent, or player quality, the problem lies elsewhere.
Spain is the current European and world champion because it has built a football system and organization since the youth categories, and their trophies are the result of a long-term strategy and planning.
Does Brazil have a long-term strategy and plan? If so, I don't see it.
Brazil is not successful even in the junior categories, which tells me that they don't have a real strategy and organization, that everything is improvisation and that is not the way to success.

It was clear to many that Ancelotti was forced to keep Neymar in the starting line up. This was because he was not named in the preliminary squad before the World Cup. Probably the manager kept him in the team under pressure. Ancelotti understood that it was foolish to keep Neymar in the team after he had been physically unfit for many years. I am not discounting Neymar's contribution and he was certainly a legendary player but he should have at least realised that he was still a burden to the team when he could not keep up with the other players on the pitch.

It is true that Ancelotti fulfilled the fans expectations by keeping Neymar in the World Cup squad. It was wise not to use him for the full match because he could have suffered a serious injury at any time because he was not physically fit.

I believe that Brazil, especially the Brazilian national team, must rediscover its own characteristics and identity in the way of playing, because they had a different way of playing which made them extremely unpredictable and with a beautiful game to watch, which made Brazil one of the national teams always favored to win the World Cup. And with a way of playing all their own and above all a fun way of playing, something that has changed completely over time and which they should find again. Wink
