That being said....anyone got some good Monero footers I could use for my account

You could also use mine, it is a bit more elegant than the one posted above, but still does the job!

Don't know about Gingercat, but I'm still getting used to my microphone sensitivity. I've reduced it for this week's Missive, hopefully that reduces the amount of "breathing" that comes through. Recording a podcat is harder than expected, especially when you're a dog lover.

You can improvise a pop filter by abusing an embroidery hoop on a swan neck mount, look for that at a light shop. The old Roadie tricks.

can someone explain to me what i am looking at?

An altcoin payment processor that settles on the back in BTC and/or XMR.

If I read correctly, there was an effort to raise 200k USD for it? I really fail to see why this would require 200k USD (?)... Is it a "downsized" version? What am I missing?

200k is hardly an excessive amount of startup capital for a business like this. Not only do you need to build the application, test it, and deploy it, but you to continue operating until you at least have a chance to ramp up the tiny per-transaction fee volume and begin covering operating expenses from revenue (and that is assuming you didn't operate for a while on a fee-free basis in order to sign accounts). If you went to VC investors with a business model like this and asked for much less than 200K (assuming no other source of capital) they should reject you with extreme prejudice because you have no idea what you are doing.

The comparison is notable, but the association is one I would avoid.  FP's project seems considerably more ... useful.

IIRC devs generally cost about 600/diem, and produce about 20 lines in a day over the long-run.  But since we're talking about FP, we'll budget 1k/diem and demand 200 lines daily, so I would expect to pay 1.35mm for 270kloc of de novo code.  Probably the project uses a fair proportion of cutnpaste from elsewhere (legit, and adding value to the project, but not a large proportion of the labor) so that number should be derated -- for conservativism in valuation with large unknowns and no diligence budget, we'll derate aggressively, 50%.  Looks to me like it would cost at least 500k $US to reproduce that project.  If I were a coin investor,  and wanted my coin to see real economic use, I would feel very good about spending 200k and getting that in the process.

We as a community need to do something about POLONIEX keeping the unclaimed XMR for themselves.
Tens of thousands of XMR have been sent from pools to poloniex without the paymentID, these coins can never be claimed and we can't let poloniex just keep them!

Lets first force them to publish total unclaimed XMR balance, then we push for a new policy - if not claimed within two months all unclaimed coins go to the DEV TEAM

At this point I consider poloniex straight out scammers, they have never addressed this issue.

See, what if they give them away to the devs, and later the rightful owners come claiming the xmr?

I have no affiliation with poloniex, but they did honour the btc stolen during the hack a while ago.

Doesn't work like that, coins sent from pools (txs) are public, no one/everyone can claim them.

try this one address, moneropool.com/any pool

All gone to polo, never to be claimed.

Then why isn't it poloniex's coins? Everyone can claim them, and no one can claim them. Thus only the ones who control the keys can claim them. I am not stating, but moreso asking for the sake of getting that disscussion going. (I agree that they should/could instil community spirit and donate the coins to the development.)

Not spending them does not equal thievery as has been alluded to elsewhere.

Not spending them, says who ? Where's the current unclaimed xmr balance on polo, why isn't it public ?
Sure, they can keep them but we can all switch to some other exchange. 80% of their volume is XMR so yeah, there's that.

Point of a private and untraceable currency, neh?

How do you lose your customers (who buy and sell anonymous crypto currency on your exchange) quickest? By exposing information, or by withholding information?

If they start to reveal balances in any sort of way, they will lose so much business.

I've sent (on accident) coins to poloniex and they've 'disappeared' - never again.

I've sent coins to Poloniex without a payment ID a bunch of times (embarrassing, I know) and I've merely opened a support ticket, given them the relevant info, and they've manually processed the deposit for me.

Are you saying the dev team is not interested?
Perhaps prominent third-party app developers (xmr.to, jajotek, etc.) would accept if we got the unclaimed funds pointed their way...
