How is the LMDB testing gong?
I am confused - I thought that the blockchain db upgrade has been release a few months ago? Released to github master (staging and testing) and many people are using it. Not "released" in terms of a tagged release with a number and pre-built binaries. Also for those struggling to build/run the DB on Windows, a small linux virtual machine is one option (virtualbox is free). The memory requirements are extremely low, you could maybe get away with 256 MB RAM using text console linux, certainly 512 MB. I am using it already since a few weeks - this is why I was confused by the above statement. can you use the wallet and mine without any problems? Seems to be working fine for me. I'm getting ~58hs on one core mining to your address. Edit: 60hs!

Snip* a bunch of translation chit chat
If there is going to be a big push for chinese awareness via social media and such in August, it would be great to have some of the infrastructure translated. Is this sufficient? https://bter.com/coininfo/XMR(press PRC flag to translate) Look at the reviews section of that page. I find it very interesting that the most common objection (more frequent than GUI comments) is a lack of marketing We already have good marketing content, but clearly it is not meeting the masses outside of English speakers on the Bitcointalk forum and Reddit. The comments really say a lot. Many compliment the tech and potential. Marketing (to the general public) is our big weakness now

Marketing (to the general public) is our big weakness now If the bitcoiners got the formula right, Monero network effect means its the winner of cryptonote coins (12 mh/s vs 1.2mh/s (BCN), 10x more). So until theres something better than Cryptonote (ring signatures + stealth address + egualitarian mining algo), Monero is also 1st contender for private storage and transport of wealth of the future.

So the funding system has no documention, hence why I thought it was a bounty. As detailed by the fluff, What I encourage you to do is find people who are willing to DO those tasks, and get them to pitch a cost, timeline, availability, milestones, etc. in the thread for that idea. Once we have someone that is willing and able to take on the task we can move it to funding required. SO! I will make a new idea thread, and hopefully those that can take on the task will start pitching. https://forum.getmonero.org/6/ideas/327/website-and-core-translations

Looking for Chinese translations you guys should hook up with VPNcoin DEV. He needs better English translations and is chinese so should have better connections in that area. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789961.0;topicseen

Why the Chinese are not interested in coin?
PR and translation This is exactly what we have been talking about the past few days. One idea would be to start sending PMs to the people posting in the XMR Chinese language thread and direct them to the new funding page for the translation project on the getmonero forum

Didn't we already have NobleSir aka ShenNoether's wife to do this? IIRC she is a verified translator, but I don't know for sure if he acknowleged this though.

I suppose you are Chinese or speak Chinese yourself? Do you know on which additional websites we could adverstise this opportunity to get even more offers?
|
Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I suppose you are Chinese or speak Chinese yourself? Do you know on which additional websites we could adverstise this opportunity to get even more offers? I am asking around and directing people to that thread. My preference would be to find someone who at least is familiar with bitcoin (and hopefully likes Monero). Unfortunately most of my Chinese friends have little interest in it yet. I was not born in China. I speak Chinese okay but my reading/writing is probably preschool level. Many western born Chinese are in similar situation. If I could read/write well I would volunteer to do translations for free myself. For my personal China related projects I will outsource translations Once translations are done I have friends who can help me verify the quality of the translations (but they don't want to do it themselves). It wont be hard for example to tell if they are machine translations or not.
