Help please:
I would like to run a full Monero node under Windows 7. Unfortunately, I only have 8gb of memory available. Is there any build for Windows 7 that actually uses the new and memory friendly database? I really would love to run that node.
https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero if you follow the readme at the bottom you should be able to compile it for yourself... atleast i did it for Win 7. And if any errors occur just join #monero-dev and i think they will be willing to help you out. Thanks :-) I will try myself first. Btw, MSYS2 could not be installed into some subdir. It had to be c:\msys2 ... also, mintty likes to crash here and there. Ok, it failed.. the documentation of how to use MSYS2 and build Monero under Windows needs an update and makeover :-( |

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

It's quickly done; took me less than 45min. It can de done, I have done it on Windows 10 64bit in a virtual machine, but this is far from friendly. The problem is that the pacman commands, when installing the dependencies fail, more often than not due to unresponsive or slow repositories. In order to get my compile to work on Windows I had to retry the installation of the dependencies numerous times. What one is in effect doing here is installing the GNU tool chain on top of Windows. Once one has the GNU/Windows environment set up the compilation actually goes quite well. Compiling the Windows executables on GNU/Linux seems to me a far simpler way to go. |

Speaking of missives... I heard there's a bunch of missiveness hanging around somewhere waiting to be free. I understand the limitation to getting stuff like that out is time and since it is a labour of love it takes a lower priority than many other things. Who does the leg work for the missives? I think we could put some funds together as an incentive to get them together and pushed out the door.... GingerAle is the man to contact, he is recording and editing the missives (next to doing other great work for the community, such as adding content to the about section). You could confer with him about it, perhaps he is interested  -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=399904. I would certainly pledge some if we could get this going! Are there any plans to create an USD/EUR <-> XMR market in the near future? If not, where do you guys see the challenges and do you think it is out of the question to create or add this trading pair to an existent real money handling exchange, in a crowdfunding effort? (Either creating this market by ourselfs or offering technical support to existent "realmoney" exchanges)
Imho we should aim to bypass the btc vehicle to buy xmr sooner than later. But how do we do it? Even though XMR has the option to be transparent, most people might not want to chose that option, causing regulatory issues.
Any thoughts?

I've noticed that the bitmonerod on Windows that I just compiled yesterday wants to start downloading the lmdb blockchain from scratch, even when I already have an up-to-date lmdb blockchain copy, synced using a previously compiled version of bitmonerod from around May 5th. What changes since then are forcing a fresh download of the blockchain?
