Staking in NXTspeak is forging. It is a different thing.

Mining in LuckyNodespeak is a virtual term, it's not literal mining, you are rewarded for running a node.

You can do both things at the same time on one node.

I am confused about NXT and ARDR.

What is the difference between NXT and ARDR? Is it the same team working on both coins?
When ARDR gets launched what will happen to NXT? Right now i am holding some NXT coins but maybe it is better to buy ARDR instead?

It is the same team.
Ardor is NXT 2.0, it solves the problem of scaleablity with prunable child chains.
When Ardor is launched, you will receive coins in the first child chain of Ardor, this child chain is called Ignis. It makes sense today to own both ARDR assets to receive Ardor tokens and NXT coins to receive Ignis.
Developers have promised to provide maintenance support for NXT after Ardor is launched.

why does avast go so crazy whilst downloading the nxt blockchain... it says every few mins blocked attack from

blah blah /nxt

then the blockchain loads a little more and avast says the same thing but a slightly different url each time?

also why does it say close nxt because system running out of memory with 16gb ram? even after a restart?

This is probably nothing. Antivirus software have outdated databases of blacklisted IP addresses, known to have launched attacks in the past. One example is a vpn service that has many customers, all reaching internet through the same IP address. Normally it is safe to add a rule to the antivirus software to allow connections of the NXT client to these IPs. Be sure to always download your NXT client and any cryptocurrency client from legit official repositories.

With regards to memory, you can try to add a -Xmx1024M setting to run.bat file to limit memory consumption of your node. Open run.bat in Notepad and change the line that launches NXT to begin like this:

when you look at the markets it's just DIX/NXT on Nxt Asset Exchange that causes this volume and the correct volume was about 10k nxt

Hello everyone, within the team we have reached a decision on the final numbers for Janus tokens after this current and last distribution is sold out.This was something we have intended to occur and will set a fixed amount for those who participate in our project and avoid massive inflation of the profit sharing we have all come to enjoy.

After the tokens from C-Cex exchange: https://c-cex.com/?p=jns-btc and the NXT AE: https://mynxt.info/asset/4348103880042995903 are sold.

We will reduce total Janus in existence to 25,201,489 JNS
5 Million of that will be kept on the main Janus account (they receive none of the dividends, therefor do not detract)
2.5 million for our teams holdings, 2.5 million for community efforts/bounties in the future and the like, 4 million will go to the final 2 JanusXT holders when they come to us.

This leaves 16,201,489 in circulation, assuming none of the JanusXT holders leave the project.
