haha. my asset is the only asset where its a great thing for nxt if the price crashes Cheesy

*edit* wait maybe shortnxt?

if shortNXT is not a scam, then yes that one too.

Assets that are good if NXT/BTC crashes: Everythink that is not dependent on NXT price but other price:
All BTC gateways
All other cointokens
All commodities
All firms that are denominated in FIAT
All passthroughs

its just weird looking at the price of my asset crash and going

hehe, yeah Wink

It is actually a weird thing overall. When real firms start using the AE for IPOs and their business in only in Fiat, they kinda hope that the NXT/FIAT price crashes, otherwise their stockprice will always suffer, even if they do good. This will be quite the barrier until price stabilizes!

These firms actually help facilitate the price not go up very quickly by selling off NXTs they raised to fund their operations.

This should be a zero-sum game. The NXT had to be bought before.

Well, yes and no. If original stakeholders buy those AE tokens, it's not like they had to buy NXTs at market price first.

Good point. But I think when talking about a single company, then the influence on the price should be irrelevant. No real company(one that uses NXT AE instead of normal stock exchange) will launch their assets here before NXT hasn't reached a certain marketcap and then you will be able to move funds in and out like BTC market now.

*edit* wait maybe shortnxt?

I think the Silver asset would be a better hedge against a NXT price drop right. Doesn't NXTShort have no or negative value if the NXT price goes up? I wasn't 100% sure how that asset works.

it works the same as the silver asset but is like a financial instrument. if NXT/BTC rises, the shortNXT price goes down and vice-versa

Cool, So is all the buying/selling of it with the asset maker, or are others trading NXTShort with eachother?
thanks.

I'll watch the candlesticks and wait for the inevitable retracement and pick up some NXTShort.

Asset issuer is placing bid/sells i think once a day. But you have to trust the asset issuer to payout when he says he will. Otherwise this asset is just worthless junk. Be always aware of the counterparty risk and check out the 2nd party (in this case Lophie iirc)

Edit: also checkou the payment formula, it is not a linear output!

Thats something thats puzzling me, when Nxt doubles/triples from here. Is it logarithmic down to 1 or something?

I don't remember it fully but it was something like this:

% of NXT/BTC performance is reversed every 24 hours:

If NXT gains 10% on a day, than NXTshort will drop 10%.
If NXT drops 10% on a day, than NXTshort will rise 10%.

This is obviously very flawed, because if NXT gains more than 100% on a certain 24hour period, the price goes subzero? I guess Lophie has his ways of dealing with those situations.

I have a quick question. If one were to use the same address/seed on the nxt network and on a fork (some NXT clone) could this in someway be abused? Asking because I recall reading something like this but i can't find it.

Yes! If the fork uses the same address format and protocol (NXTquant and number variables).

Just use different passwords for all forks, then you are good!

Asking you this because NTX:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=625668.0

Is telling people its OK to use their usual NXT account for the fork they planning to launch. Is this a fishing attempt (so to speak?) See the faq at 2/3 of the OP announcement.

Maybe he doesn't know anybetter or the prefix really makes broadcasting NTX transactions in NXT impossible.

Just don't risk it and make a new account Wink

Damn. I just, once in my life, wanted to yell SCAM in big red letters. Guess I'll just call them out on the issue instead Smiley Thanks.
