Good news, but its only a small amount. Quite surprising that the hacker pulled such a stupid move at Bter. Did he withdraw BTCs from Bter before withdrawing? I wanted to know if he dumped elsewhere too.

he sent first Nxts to bter 4 hours after the btc hack, the 2nd Nxt account was hacked 4 hours later - he probably had to learn how to use Nxt during those 4 hours. He withdraw most of the Bitcoins from the first 3-mil-nxt hack, some (12?) bitcoins were left, + was frozen the whole 2nd Nxt amount
He was working: 10 pm: 1170 Btc hack - now mixing 2 am: 3m Nxt funds hack - dumped 3 am: 100 Btc withdrawn from Bter 6 am: 3m klee's Nxt account hack - frozen at bter

Is it a good idea for NXT to have potential competing crypto on its exchange?
I'm interested in NXT and I started accumulating some and I'm looking at some assets with concern that something like NEM could displace it.

Is it a good idea for NXT to have potential competing crypto on its exchange?
Sure, why not. First of all, there is no way this can be controlled, second, it's good for NXT that other coins are priced in NXTs. NXT is way ahead of competition, 8 months of live net running may not seem like a long time, but enough to give credibility to the NXT concepts and code. Other coins 2.0 will have to overcome the same trust issues from potential investors, because they haven't proven themselves on the live network. Investors don't like it when bugs happen, the longer the live net runs, the less chance bugs or successful attacks will happen.

NEM looks like a good project, but I dont see them as serious competition for NXT yet. And, hell yeah, list them on the AE, i have no problem with that.

Absolutely, Nxt is a platform in which many other Cryptos will operate.

Thks guys, NXT is really impressive.
It's tough having to wade through all the naysayers and scammongers.
Even if NXT is has some flaws or bad press, I don't see any reason to heavily support Litecoin or any clone at this point.
Tai Zen at Leon Fu at Prison Or Freedom really did good a job explaining how NXT is 2.0 tech.
While Ethereum sounds ambitious, devphp is right, all the other 2.0 coins haven't crawled or even been born yet.
NXT is here and its already supporting an asset exchange with significant volume and market caps.

Your coins need to have 1440 confirmations to start forging. And as NXT has, in principle, a one minute block time you will have to wait a day to start forging.

Or, do you mean some website on the internet where you had previously used your password? When you log into the NRS, via the browser or the Wesly UI (which is basically just a browser too) your "server" is forging, unless you use the "logout and stop forging" choice.

The default client is still web-based (reachable under http://localhost:7876/) and the forging status is indicated in the top left corner. If you want to see more details in the console output of the NRS server (the java application) you would have to change the logging levels in the config (in /nxt/conf/ folder) file. Hope this helps, otherwise please provide more information.

I am referring to this as I have software client. That's still a "Web based UI". The NRS is installed and run in the background. You can still, while that wallet is running access it via your browser at port 7876. I also use that wallet for the simplified one click installer, but keep it minimized to the tray. I access it via my browser so I can use LastPass to auto enter my passphrase when needed for transactions. So, my answer is the same. If you log into it, then it is forging, or will start once you have 1440 confirms and you have an effective balance. I hope that answers your question.

Last time I used this was a long time ago when it had padlock n other stuff on it but never understand it and now seeing it is different and simpler to understand and navigate around as before it was a total mess to use and didn't bother with it.

NEM looks like a good project, but I dont see them as serious competition for NXT yet. And, hell yeah, list them on the AE, i have no problem with that. "Serious competition" is a dichotomous statement, no? There's only a very small handful of 2.0 coins and NEM is arguably the best competition against NxT.. unless we grasp straws and bend them to include Ripple or Bitshares but those two payment systems / protocols are aiming for different end results. If NEM wasn't seen as competition then it wouldn't be receiving all the negative attention it gets - you guys would instead be bashing on NODE or Kora.

There ain't no Revolution like a NEMolution. The only solution is Bitcoin's dissolution! NEM!
