My NRS is 1.1.6, maybe I just have bad luck haha. Still downloading blockchanin, have restared the wallet and my computer numerous times. This is my second install of the wallet. While the client is running, what happens when you click on http://127.0.0.1:7876/ ? A NXT login loads.

Exactly. 127.0.0.1 is localhost ( http://localhost:7876/ should work too) .. you can enter your password safely there. It won't leave your computer See if the browser version works without problem. If it does, then you can use it while keeping the app minimized to system tray

No, as long as you are using the same password. If your password is longer than 35 char, you can also login from here https://trade.secureae.comwhen you click on "Sign in" there is link in the popup box at bottom that says "Nxt Client Login" As far as I know that site is secure as your password doesn't leave your computer

What also might help is letting the client run without opening the browser directly.
I have found several times that if I open the browser window immediately for some reason the blockchain download seems to stall.
I then just open the client (run.bat), let it do its thing for a minute or two and thén open the browser client.
Usually it opens with a downloaded blockchain. Weird, but true.

@dandruff1138 Take a look at this file: .../nxt/nxt_db/nxt.h2.db What size is it? If the db is actually being populated, it should be several hundred mb. Mine is 416 mb.

Accessing the Api directly is deactivated standardly to avoid exploitation. You need to activate it into the nxt.properties file and restart the server. See here https://nxtforum.org/public-nodes-vpss/problem-accessing-my-node-on-vps/I started NXT client (server?) on a remote ubuntu server and it is started chatting with the network on port 7874. It downloaded about 320MB into nxt.h2.db. So I guess it is working. My problem is I can't connect to that localhost port from here. So I tried lynx from the command line and got some pages of HTML. I was able to scroll to the secret phrase and repeat form entries. I pressed enter on the register "button" and got:
HTTP ERROR: 400 Problem accessing /. Reason: HTTP method POST is not supported by this URL
Is there a better client to use than lynx? Can I bind the port to listen on the internet with suitable firewall settings? That is tricky since I access from a crummy network with varying addresses.

What will differentiate NXT once Ethereum comes out?
Does NXT have any unique plans that cannot be solved easier on the more flexible Ethereum platform?

Indeed. 1) Smart Contracts -- Not Turing-complete but covers basically 99% of all smart contract problems (trust me contract writers do not need Turing-completeness) 2) Automated Transactions -- Turing-completeness addition to Nxt; for the 1% other applications that require more elaborate algorithms Btw. more flexible is not easier. In fact, most of the time it is the other way round. With more flexibility comes a steeper learning curve and bigger amount of mistakes made.

NXT has an exchange that's trading assets with million dollar market caps in NEM and now jl777hodl, both of which are in the top 40 for all cryptos.. Think about it Who else is doing that right now?

Hey, Damelon. This should be in original post under clients https://trade.secureae.com/as it's fully featured client that does local signing without sending password to server (according Wesley) so is safe to use. Plus it's a "lightweight" client that doesn't require downloading the blockchain

How i can trade bitcoin on next client? deposit with multigateway, and than is an asset for trading, or i must create them? You cannot trade them directly in the client. For this you need to use the Multigateway, which is not a core feature, but a service built on top of Nxt. http://multigateway.com/

Nxt will have a 12 month head start on Ethereum (roughly, depending on when it comes out). That's worth a lot - see how hard it is for alt-coins to displace Bitcoin despite often being technically better. And it's not clear that Ethereum will be technically better. The Nxt approach of implementing features using Java in the core, is more efficient than a scripting language. I hope Nxt gets its Turing Complete scripting language before Ethereum launches, because it's a good way to play with ideas, but the best ideas should go into the core.
