Buy one and be one a slave for twenty years. If you survive, you can then regret not buying more and retiring earlier.
How many would you say you say it's require to retire in 20 years then?
I also like the idea of having 21 Bitcoin, since only max 1 million people will have 21 Bitcoins, but given BTCs arent distributed evenly it will be even harder to be part of the almighty 21 Group. the usual target is 100 with a price target of 10k, 100 bitcoin are not that hard to acquire, 10k value instead look almost impossible right now, but the future may hold a good surprise 1M should be enough for many, to retire Lol 100 BTC are pretty hard to adquire... how are you going to adquire 100 BTC before price goes 10K or anything near it? because the higher the price goes, the harder it will become. It's a ticking clock. you should have started before, or you can just buy them now(not all together, maybe 2-3 every month, 3 years = 100 btc), or another solution was, to join cointellect and scam their ponzi, with many account, adds to this signature and instamine(aurora coin, blackcoin, darkcoin) and 100 btc are easy to achieve 2-3 every month is a lot of money for most folk, let alone for 3 years. As the poster said, the price will keep going up. So in 3 years, the price should be way higher than what it is now. Let's say the price is back to 1200 per coin in 3 years. Who in hell is going to be able to buy 2-3 coins per month anymore?

Hey look just buy as much as you can. If we bet on bitcoin, and we do, the mere fact that all of us will buy alot of bitcoin, will create the future that we wished for so hard.
It's an auto-fulfilling-prophecy, the mere fact that we buy now all bitcoins that we can, will raise the price, and then we can thank ourselves for our effort!
Auto-fulfilling-prophecy!!!

All it will take is one whale exit to puncture this auto fulfilling prophecy. I dont think there are whales in bitcoin yet. The core developers or whoever holds like 1m bitcoin, will hold it because of the community. Yes maybe he will buy stuff with it, but i dont think he will exit completely, probably closing 10% of his positions

The BTC whales have been remarkably restrained overall considering there must be a few spotty brats with enough to flatten markets with one click.

I dont think, if they wanted to buy house and sports car from their earnings they already did it or they dont want to. They are mostly guardians of the bitcoin network so its more for them just to make money, they are the pillars of the whole bitcoin network lol. They dont sell it because they feel emotional atachment to it, which is good, as we need the community strong.

As much as you can buy and willing to get, 20 years from now are a long time bitcoin will probably not exist until then but if it does then it will be really valuable in 20 years
I don't know why people keep saying that bitcoin will achieve some mythical and great value in the future. I studied bitcoin economy and so far we don't have any ground to base that assumption. Bitcoin economy as for 2014 and 2015 is quite disappointing. And yet people still believe that one pump peak from November of 2013 is foreshadow of 'true' bitcoin value. And that may not be the case at all.

I would buy ten btc for a retirement plan if I had the money but it I would only have BTC as part of my portfolio..Now I don't even have 1 lol so I am far off the mark but ten for western countries and maybe 2-5 btc for developing ones..Ideally those whales who got much to spend 100 or more btc would be more realistic for a nest egg.

I'm pretty sure you could retire with 10 bitcoins 10K USD is realistic in 10 years 10x10=100K USD Not enough, but prices that we are not able to logically imagine (it was NOT logical to think 1K per BTC would ever happen back then) CAN happen, so you could retire.

0.01 USD is realistic in 10 years
10x0.01=0.1 USD
Not enough, but prices that we are not able to logically imagine (it was NOT logical to think 0.01 per BTC would ever happen) CAN happen, so you should not retire on bitcoins.

fully agreed! Lets not be agents of gloom and doom! Sure, BTC is going through a bear phase atm and things seem all gloomy, but we need to keep up our optimism and hope that things change for the better. My time to look out for a major uptick would be the next halving of block reward. I will be holding my small stash of btc at least until the next block reward halving and will re-evaluate my position at that point. We have to remain optimistic until then.

Bitcoin should be more reference to a gold valuation not a sense of a dollar.
Its why theres threads out there do the whole gold vs bitcoin thing. So this discussion is based around how do you value gold compared to the digital currency. Plus its not like there is a endless supply of it. Its a fixed amount, which also supports that value.
