To retire in 20 years that will be a long time so if I was you just collect a couple of bitcoins and just hold it.

But we can't tell what will happen in year 2035.
A couple? In my opinion you need 300-400 BTC to guarantee your retirement. a couple of bitcoins are just too small Grin

Well, I think this also depends on how much the bitcoin will be worth around the time you're going to retire.
I think the furthest it can go is around $2000 Grin but who knows may be 3000-4000. You still need some amount when your health has some problem

then no one can retire with such amount, because bitcoin is limited, and not everybody can have 300-400 coins

it should be possible to retire in a veryf ar future even with 10 btc, so this can permit to many more people to retire and not early aodpters only

If we do reach our potential in the near future, I think that it will be enough to retire with even less than 10 coins. Number of bitcoins and number of people in this world or even better a number of possible users are the proof of this!

This technology has a huge potential and whoever doesn't have 5 BTCs in its cold storage is missing a big picture here!

In my honest suggestion, try to get as much as you can.but at least 100 BTC.

Then go the the church and pray bitcoin will rise high.. very high.

decent amount for retirement in 20 year
price will be high possible 4 digit or more so very nice sum for retirement

If you could even save 5 - 10 BTCs, I guess that's enough for you to be able to retire in 20 years, based on the interest Bitcoins will catch in the future, and the price obviously, as to what you are expecting to sell your coins at...

Not just the price that matters, all that matters are buyers and sellers, even when we talk about prices, if we don't get buyers to buy our coins at our prices, then time may come we need to sell our coins back at throw-away rates too, so waiting might be considered as stupidity also...

Bitcoin has a huge potencial and can become the first crypto currency that can fix financila system that is already several years taking advantage of the small people with a normal job.Based on it i would say above 40btc and less then 200 btc enought to retire.

The hoped-for number would be one, and if youre greedy maybe two.

To be realistic, bitcoin wouldn't hit more than a million dollars in my lifetime, so i'd say minimum 10. Maybe 21 Cheesy

Or maybe 21 million+, bitcoin might be dead when we retire...

100 BTC is a solid answer. I guess my current aim of 50BTC in 2016 is on the low side.

Let's hope the price goes back to 320 again so we can accumulate.

100 Bitcoins will indeed be enough when the price hits at least $3000 per coin. Some even think the price will hit at least $10,000 per coin. That makes it $1,000,000 in total retirement value. That's simply perfect for most people.

To perfect :/ because 10.000 dollar is way to much maybe around 2.500 dollar is what I can think that bitcoin will reach as the max.
Maybe I can be wrong. Just lets wait some people who retire with bitcoin explain theres experiences.

100 BTC is a solid number but in 5 years. In 20 years my estimate is that with 10 BTC it's gonna be more than enough.

there is no such thing as a limit with bitcoin, it can go to 100k or to zero in some few years(5-10 at least), why people keep thinking that we cannot even sustain 10k in value is beyond me

we faced a 1200 peak in 2013, and this was two years ago, so 2.5 now would be a joke, as i see it anyone that believe in bitcoin should stash up 10 btc at least for the future

Maybe so, lets say that will reach. What will happend to the banks or other who hates bitcoin? I am just curious.
I would love to see this happening in the future. So that my bitcoin is worth it after all.

There is such a possibility. But I think bitcoin has great future, the price will rise over time due to adoption in daily usage.

^^ Dont over invest in anything.   You could buy something as sensible as a house but a tornado comes and then you dont have it anymore.    Bitcoin as your whole pension would be kinda crazy and even a gamble that pays can be called bad from the beginning and thats probably the best answer.   Hold 1 or 2 long term, because if the currency grows to last twenty years that will be alot when a 100 million or so are competing to use this as their currency, hold some gold, some land and invest in a reasonable business also as part of a pension
