I am a little concerned with the giant marketing push, and lack of technical details about the future of development.  Does the Dev ever communicate with the community?  I heard the Whitecoin dev bailed on that coin...  Is there a chance that could happen with Blackcoin?

Blackcoin is a 'clone' in the same way every other coin is a 'clone' of Bitcoin and its descendents. A large amount of the codebase is based on Bitcoin. There are very few which aren't (NXT, Ripple).

I believe BlackCoin's original codebase was forked from Novacoin.

Similar parameters and innovation (transaction times, PoS to eliminate wasteful mining) may have been used in other coins before and since but it's the push and the community at large which makes the coin gain traction and have potential. Whilst the community agrees and disagrees on various things, and there are now at least two distinct camps with their own plans, there is one thing that cannot be altered - the economic fundamentals of the coin and that is what gives us a great footing for any team of people to get behind.

In my opinion, BC is one of the safest bets in Crypto right now.

rat4 is the dev. He is actively pushing commits every day on the github. Soepkip knows his personal details, I know Soepkip's personal details.

rat4 helped with security flaw in Mint and with an error in Cinni. He is building trust in the bitcoin community, and he has built a lot of trust in the Blackcoin community, unlike the Whitecoin dev.
