I checked the OP but can't see the max number of blackcoins, how many will there be?

Also, can someone explain the halo tech, is there a quick explanation anywhere, how does it work? Sounds pretty cool!

thanks

There's inflation (very low inflation however) of 1%.  Total currently is somewhere between 74M and 75M I believe.  I would actually expect the annual growth to be much lower than 1% however - as not all wallets will be staked and some coins/wallets are likely to be lost.  It's very possible that we could actually be slightly deflationary for the first year or so.

I would expect after that time for the value of BlackCoin to be high enough that no one would dare miss out on their staking coins.  After all, if you've got 20K BC right now... you're only making about $32/year (at current prices).  If, on the other hand, BC is trading at LTC/DRK prices (again current prices)... that same stake will be worth a little over $2K/year... and that's a lot of free coffee. We really need simple non-abstract practical examples of how they can be used and what they can do. Like, "if I want to trade X for Y with Z, I will do this and that" etc. I know I would appreciate those examples.

So I have been getting quite a few emails and I have finally had the time to answer them. I have had vacation from work and I didnt want to be bothered about stupid emails and stuff.

To Shareholders! - BlackCoin Store has been shut down, but that doesnt mean AT ALL that your Shares in the KNC Titan Group Buy has been lost, they are still there and you all have purchase reciepts and txids of your share purchases but also from the Titan I have ordered for us. EVERYTHING IS OK! Platform is still being developed.

I did not send out any more information letters past the one with the receipt, txids and pictures of the ordered Titan because there is no information to give. KNC clearly state that first batch is supposed to ship Q2/Q3 meaning April-September sometime. I cannot rush their process more because you write angry mails to me.

To Everyone - I have a busy IRL life atm, I needed to finish some classes in school that I have missed earlier to get ready for university studies together with this I had 2 weeks off from work. BlackCoin Store was shut down mainly because I lack the time to support it, second was because there were no people on it. I said the site was there for the community, to sell their own ideas without any fees. Like the blackcoin cards or the solid coins etc. IT was all there available to become a big platform for the BC community but it failed.

So this sum it up. BlackCoin Store - DEAD, BlackCoin Farm on the move. We are getting there as soon as we can. Remember, I do plan to go through with the Titan, Everything is set for launch and everything can be manually processed until we finish the site. I want it all to be automated, but I also want it to be bad ass secure as well.

I have been very transparent with who I am, So I would never go through with being a scammer. It would yield legal problems that I do not want on myself.

This is everything for now, Shareholders will be the only people gaining information from now on. If they want to share what I say then fine. I do not have the time to explain myself every time someone is in doubt.

huge stuff really.

We really need simple non-abstract practical examples of how they can be used and what they can do. Like, "if I want to trade X for Y with Z, I will do this and that" etc. I know I would appreciate those examples.

Well, as I understand it (smart contracts in general via cryptos) a 'paraphrased' example in real life could be:

Party A wishes to purchase a piece of furniture from Party B.  However, they don't really know each other, share no friends in common, and both feel the other party might be attempting to scam them.  They also don't necessarily want the other person to know where they live or what they look like.  The value/agreed upon price for the piece of furniture is $500.

Party A places $500 in cash in a dual-keyed safety deposit box (which he also pays the deposit on), and gives one key to the receptionist at the front counter of the bank.

Party B places the furniture in a storage unit (held by deposit as well) with two padlocks and gives the key to one of the padlocks to the receptionist at the front desk.

Both parties mail each other the 1 key they have in their possession still.

Important side-note: The two receptionists actually know each other because they live next door to each other on Blockchain Street. Wink

Party A goes to the storage locker and uses their key... the receptionist goes with them and unlocks the second lock... Party A likes the furniture and starts loading it in their truck.  Meanwhile the bank receptionist does the same with Party B as far as the deposit box is concerned.  Both parties go on their merry way... and because everything went so smoothly both the bank and the storage company mail the deposit checks back to their respective parties.  (And this is where it's totally not comparable to this IRL... as you'd just lose both).

On the other hand if say Party B puts a bowling ball in the storage locker... Party A is not happy.  He tells the receptionist and hands her his key.  She calls the bank receptionist who takes the box key from Party B and the deal is 'rescinded'.  Because he didn't do anything wrong, Party A goes back to the bank and simply collects his $500 back from the deposit box, and the bank refunds his deposit.  Party B, however, has 'exposed' his scam to not just Party A, but also the receptionist (who tells everyone on Blockchain Street about it...) he can still get his bowling ball... but he gets no refund and no $500 for his trouble.

On the other hand if both parties just get cold feet and decide against the whole deal entirely - they merely hand the respective receptionist their key - and the receptionists trade them that night and hand them back to both parties the next day allowing them both to retrieve their originally offered item.  Both also would receive refunds in this case because they essentially just 'backed out' the entire deal amicably.

Hopefully that little novel will help someone having difficulty with the concept itself.  There are flaws in the analogy, and it's possible to draft contracts that are infinitely more complicated (like having Party A deal with Party B for something that Party C actually wants).  But for the most basic concept I think it works pretty well.

The most simplistic (and obviously inadequate as well) tl;dr of that would be: "decentralized escrow service" I suppose.  It sure takes less time to type. Smiley

Or maybe you want to buy a rare Magic the Gathering card, but don't trust the Online eXchange.  You find someone who will sell the card for 200 BlackCoins, but neither of you are comfortable sending to the other person first in case it's a scam.

You create a BlackHalo contract and both deposit 300 BlackCoins each - you each hold one of the keys to this money. They send your card to your safe deposit box, you send the BlackCoins to their address, and once you're both satisfied that everything is fine, you sign the contract transaction and both parties receive their 300 BC deposit back.

Alternatively, if you both agree to cancel the exchange, you can both decide to sign the contract and receive your money back.  If one of the two individuals decides not to complete their half of the transaction, they would lose the 300 BlackCoin deposit.

Contrary to what digicidal said, I believe both parties lose their deposit in that hypothetical scenario, but it should be a very rare one.  I believe the contract can be done in such a way that neither can contact the other once it's set up through to prevent extortion, but I'm not sure on the details.

There are also more complicated contracts you could do, basically whatever you could think of/program in/get someone to agree on.  Even with very basic contracts, you could make whatever stipulations you want, but leave the decision of whether or not to sign the transaction that concludes the contract up to human choice. More complicated contracts could probably complete contracts automatically if they can retrieve the necessary info, but again I'm not sure on how the programming could be executed in the blockchain.

I see that transaction on the chain with 108 confirmations at the time of this post.

If the exchange hasn't credited it to you, that's the exchange being slow, not the BlackCoin client.

If you really initiated your transaction 12 hours ago, you probably have some kind of connection/firewall problem.  (If you're on a Mac, apparently programs go into some kind of sleep mode unless you change some setting, but I don't think that would explain an 11 hour delay.)

Then the problem was the resendtx. I have helped a few earlier by just looking at the tx in blockchainexplorer and that has triggered the whole transaction. I asked about it from rat4 and he advised to use resendtx command in these cases.
