Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck has suspended all withdrawals as a Ripple payment worth $123mln left its wallet Friday, Jan. 26.
In what appears to be a problem tied to its support of altcoin NEM, Coincheck, which is among Japan’s largest exchanges, suddenly froze NEM deposits Friday.
Makes it sound like NEM code is tied to the hack which will make other exchanges nervous im sure. Not good

Coinchecks wallet balance doesn't seem to reflect that they've lost 600 million. This is just a rumor, until proven otherwise. https://nemnodes.org/richlist/ Coincheck is at number 4.

Obviously if this is fake then NBD. But if it is somehing to do with NEMs code we are doomed. Any idea how that could work?

"As far as NEM is concerned, tech is intact. We are not forking. Also, we would advise all exchanges to make use of our multi-signature smart contract which is among the best in the landscape. Coincheck didn't use them and that's why they could have been hacked. They were very relaxed with their security measures,"

With all those "they're hacked but it's not 100%" I sometimes feel like back in the Middle Age when you could not be absolutely 100% sure what was going in the region next your, just rumours, legends, and scary tales...

We really like NEM and its community, for a long time we followed the project very closely, some time ago we even did an interview with Lon Wong. We are aware of the importance of disseminating this project to a larger public, so if someone wants to talk about Nem in Crypto-economy, they will be welcome. You can contact by sending me a PM.

Doesn’t really matter what the truth is, the crypto world is stupid and will read this as flaws with NEM’s product. Depressing, going to take a long time to recover from this.

NEM has held on to the $0.86 levels for the past few days, but the bulls are unable to push prices above the down trendline. This is likely to lead to another attempt to break down of $0.86 within a couple of days. If the bears succeed, a fall to the Jan. 16 lows of $0.55134 is likely. The 20-day EMA has turned down and is likely to complete a bearish crossover if the support breaks. We don’t find any bullish setups on the XEM/$$$ pair with price trading below the trendline and both the moving averages. A change in trend will be signaled once it rallies above $1.21.
You never know what the market brings, but in the long run nem never disappoints I hope NEM will be not disappoint in future. Because of Weiss Ratings, B Grade : ETH and EOS. B- Grade : ADA, NEO and Steem. C+ Grade : ARK, BTC, BTS, GBYTE, DASH, DCR, IOC, LTC & NEM. Weiss gives NEM a C+ (meaning “fair”) C Grade : AEON, ASCH , BLK, BLOCK, BURST, BCN, XCP, DOGE, ETC, KMD, LSK, MNR, NAV, NBL, NXS, NXT, PPC, PIVX, QTUM, XRB and XRP. C- Grade : BCH, CLOAK, DGB, XDN, ETN, FTC, NMC, RDD, SKY, UBQ, VIA, XWC and ZEN. D+ Grade : AUR, BTG, EMC2, GAME, NLG, MEC, ETP and PURA. D Grade : EXP, GUP, NVC, POT, QUARK, RISE and SALUS.

Hacker accounts will be blacklisted by exchanges, his XEM will be useless. Consider those XEM as burned; the remaining, in the log run, will gain from this hack.

I agree it`s good time to buy XEM

Mosaics are assets you can create in the block chain. The nem.xem mosaic is a special mosaic that is equivalent to the xem in the system. https://nem.io/technology/https://nemlibrary.com/documentation/mosaic/
