Quick Noob question: With the new cpu miner is it better to have high Sieve and PTest
for example; Sieve 756000 PTest 815000 or low like below?
Sieve 400000 PTest 425000

Got 2 old computers i'm using and have done research of the miners stats and best settings
But I was unsure on which is better high or low?

Thank you in advance

The numbers of Sieve and Ptest represents the average time the miner spends sieving and testing prime numbers in one batch. As a result when you compare a miner between 2 machines running with the exact same parameters set in miner.conf the lower numbers indicates faster performance.
In general the goal is to configure the miner to have the highest WPS. The trick is balancing the Sieving thread and prime test thread parameters in the miner.conf. The optimal values can be different for each architecture, (number of CPU cores, CPU speed, memory speed, hyperthreding, VPC, etc)

The ultimate goal is to have the highest 6ch/m and 7ch/m rate, which not necessarily linear to the WPS indicator. I mean I can configure the miner to have higher WPS but the 6 and 7 ch rate will drop.

Some explanations of the parameters, finding the optimal values and how the miner works can be found here:

Thanks

That intensity is very high! Lower to ~45 and try again.

If that doesn't fix it check that you have unlocked your wallet too Smiley

i remember there was talking about a new wallet release 3.0 and the new listing on poloniex, when this is supposed to happen? because it was said many months ago and still nothing, the price is also tanking aagain, it's like this coin is in a deadlock

We have never promised anything about Poloniex.  Tritium is being worked on and will be released when it is ready, but we are getting close.  The market is the market, but we were around 3500 satoshis at the beginning of the year and hovering around 30,000 right now.

Had something weird happen. Got 45.19 for finding one block.
Anyone had this happen before?

Yes, when the difficulty is falling a small number of the blocks come with a larger block reward.

This prevents large sources of hashrate (like nicehash) from "coin hopping".

Coin hopping is a lot like the "pool hopping" scheme that was commonplace before PPLNS, but instead of switching pools you switch coins.  It is a problem for every GPU-mined coin.  No matter how fancy and clever the difficulty-adjustment algorithm is, if there any large single source of hashpower (cough cough nicehash) they can boost their income by jumping into a coin, mining until the difficulty catches up to their added hashrate, then jumping over to another coin.  Even if the difficulty adjusts in one block, they still got mined one block of low-difficulty using their high hashrate.  As long as there are enough coins to hop between they can hop on every block, doesn't matter how fast the difficulty adjusts since it is always based on the previous block(s).  Take a look at the Monero hashrate, it's been oscillating up and down with almost exactly a 24-hour period for a few years now (their difficulty adjustment window is based on the last 24 hours worth of blocks).

By giving more reward to a randomly chosen block during dropping-difficulty periods (which is effectively taken from the reward during rising-difficulty periods) nexus thwarts this exploit.  Well, in theory.  It looks like the formula for boosting the reward is messed up, the bonus blocks seem to be larger and less frequent than they should be, but it still helps.  The other drawback is that this only works for multi-algorithm coins where the network time is based on all mining algorithms.  If a single-algorithm coin tried to do this then a nicehash-like coin hopper could defeat the mechanism by screwing with the block timestamps, and with enough hashpower the chain wouldn't know they were fudging the timestamps (by a small amount) and making the chain think the difficulty was dropping (by speeding up time) when in fact it wasn't.  Everybody would do this and pretty soon the chain timestamps would be way ahead of the actual wall-clock time on all the non-mining clients.

With two or more mining algorithms there is no incentive for the miners on the other algorithms to do the same thing at the same time, so they don't.  On the other hand nexus's "unified time" causes a lot of other headaches for people, I'm not sure it was a good idea either.

I found two blocks today but only one get credited: the other one is gone !

I found 9 blocks in total but my balance is 108,591633 (a balance of 8 blocks)

Edit : the nb of transactions was 9 and it is 8 now...

Actually the block reward varies to meet strict emission schedule, when the reserves fall above or below certain levels the block reward adjusts to ensure emissions stay on target. If blocks are found to quickly for a specific channel the reserves become depleted and the block reward gets reduced. When blocks are found to slowly for a particular channel the reserves build and block reward increases.

The "missing block" is likely to have been an orphan, you can check this by going to the debug console and entering listtransactions
if you need to search more than the default number of transactions displayed listtransactions '' 100 will show the last 100 transactions. Note its 2 ' ' not a single ".

Haven't been back here for a very long time! How goes the project Viz? Are you still putting a blockchain into space and what sort of target date will that be... 2018 or after?

You should check progress from Vector Space Systems. I don't think there is any ETA but this company is likely to be 3-5 years ahead of the competion in this particular segment. Nexus is very likely to be the first coin to have a node in space alongside Bitcoin if they decide to orbit one too at the same time.

I can't seem to get the SK-miner working... I had it running, but the batch loop doesn't post any hashrates or other information, it just restarts and reconnects repeatedly to the server without seemingly processing anything other than block height.

I'm also curious why in the modern age of programming we are forced to use goto loops in a batch file to run a mining application? That seems wildly inefficient.  Is there a new miner for nvidia gpus that I should be using other than Sk-miner 0.1.3?

Nexus has now found seven 10-chains:  http://www.nxsprime.com/

Updates were broken for a while due to a bug that should now be fixed.

The list of the top 10 primes is also now directly downloadable in "TSV" format (tab-separated value) at:

http://www.nxsprime.com/longest.tsv

Amazing coin, amazing team, nice work!

Hello, I'm new to this coin, tell me maybe I do not have the right settings for mining with the processor (i5 7500) what figures it is better to put sieve_threads, ptest_threads, and then for 3 hours of all Balance 0.003063, maybe better solo mining? And which pool to choose? Perhaps there is a good instruction for beginners, read all 320 pages long Huh
