Results of today's BITMAIN announcement:
1) Existing S3 owners basically received a 0.1 - 0.2 BTC increase in the value of their individual S3's
2) New ebay scams: Sudden increase in the number of S3+ units for sale.
3) cynical B1 owners now have the new S1- model.
i don't get point #3. point#1 is correct, so what?

And this is how you convert an old bathroom into a 2.6 Th/s antminer S3 farm. All six miners and Corsair 750W PSUs exhaust out the back window. Fresh air is drawn through a cracked window on the opposite side of the bathroom. Each miner is stable at 218.75 stock frequency and averages 440 Gh/s per miner. 39C-40C average temps on each. I opted for one PSU per miner as I may decide to OC and got a good deal on them. May never ROI at my electricity rates but I'm more of a hobbyist anyway...and this was a fun project. Could you still use the toilet, when you are mining... Good Job, buddy..."doo-doo" mining ...in Chinese... ZiG

I can't complain about them.. they mine at freq 212.5 use 650 watts and do 860gh

Why wouldn't the hash rate be dropping? People shutting down older equipment that was probably lucky to be break even. You did see current btc price right? 520 USD Hashrate is going to go even lower as people can't pay electric with btc earned on most older equipment.

B1 was obviously underpriced because it was announced around the time when the big 25% difficulty jump happened and nobody could have predicted the subsequent sub-10% difficulty increases.
Batch 1 was also fraught with initial production issues and stability, so the pricing actually isn't as good considering many get less than a stable 440GH/s, and B1 was initially advertised as being closer to ~480GHs. Having said that, it's great to see that Bitmain has improved things with the newer batches. Would love to have some sort of trade-in program where I could return my wonky B1 S3's for the more recent ones.

What's the experience with Bitmaintech RMA support so far ? I received a S3 that's showing xxxxxx xxxxx000 for one of the blades after using it for about an hour. No overclocking, tried 2 different power supplies, 2 power connectors, 4 power connectors... Also tried to reconnect all internal wiring. Checked if the heatsink is tight, all to no avail.... Hashing power is around 220 Gh/s on average, obviously not what I want. I tried to get a reply from Bitmain since last monday but no feedback at all on how they're going to fix this. I'm using their info@. email address. Probably I need a new blade. Naturally I would really like to get to full hashing power asap to get some better ROI on my little antfarm, so if any of you have tips or tricks on what to try next.... Also if Bitmaintech is reading this thread (and they should be).. please try and get your RMA team to work overtime.. I know you guys must be crazy busy to move out thousands of miners but for continued business customer support is equally important as R&D and sales.

Needed a replacement hash board, they sent one out no questions asked via UPS and according to the tracking it should be here tomorrow. Also used the info@ email address

Also used the info@ email address How long did it take for them to reply ? I can imagine that even with the smallest failure rate they must be receiving numerous support requests after this huge rollout of S3 miners.

Ah...Just received my reply from China on what to do. Most of it already tried like trying another power supply but now will start to swap boards with other minders to see if it's the controller board or the blade.

Half a day. Seems to be a consistent 4-6 hours between when I email them and when they reply. Always helpful and sorted me out with no dramas

The parts list didn't include the case cover either.

The parts list didn't include the case cover either. I could cynically suggest that the case cover has cosmetic value only. The omission of the second fan either demonstrates that the second fan is not really essential, or that Bitmain think that anyone upgrading would have previously overclocked their S1 and would therefore have fitted a second fan already. My vote goes for it being superfluous unless you overclock.

I've been down the same rat hole. I finally asked them what the point of this was since I got a miner that can only do 428 without choking.

For some strange reason 2 out of my 5 Ant Miners require re-flashing every day to bring back up to stock speeds of 441 GH/s they appear to run stable for about 12 hours or so and then both just fall to circa 420 GH/s. I have tried everything, replacing the thermal paste, swapping around the PSU's, factory restart, reboot etc. The only thing that helps (For a short period of time) is if I flash the device again and again every 12 hours or so. Has anyone else got any thoughts on what else I could do? Or do I just have 2 faulty units?
