Well, I finally did it...

Three of my four B5 S3's are all steady at 477+ Gh/s with freq 237.5 with the fourth never seeming to go over 460, did find one x on that one but that's after a week of 237.5 so I just reset it without worry.

Anyway, as for what I finally did. I put one of the three "good" S3's on freq 250 and were now 15 mins in with no X's and ~500Gh/s.

If it runs well or at least an hr I will try 250 on the other two "good" ones doing ~477Gh/s

Thx, I went ahead and bumped the other two "good" ones so here's where we stand with all four.

I'll do pics after 24hrs when I have more precise stats assuming everything holds well that long.

Miner 1:

 --- HW%: 0.1936

Miner 2:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 8min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 500 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.2291

Miner 3:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 11min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 496 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0008

Miner 4:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 56min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 503 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0044

In philipma case he had one running 24hr OK on 250, then had to be restarted out and was NEVER able to run at 237.5 again. For me it means that you will be better off keeping most miners either on 237.5 or 243.75 instead of swinging for 250 or 256.25

I'll still take the gamble because even if I do have to re-downclock, I have better than most power situations so I can play with stuff fairly easy an still make decent BTC even at a slight loss of hash.

As for 243.75, that's not a choice in the new FW and even in the one before it, there's no stuff for it.

Plus, one needs to know the values for thee three fields to even try 243.75.

All that said, what speeds have been seen on the 243.75 freq ?

I'm not opposed to 243.75 for safety, just need the three option settings an supposed speeds with it. Not even sure if many people run that freq.

that was batch 4. they are both stable at 231.25

the batch 6 did all the way up to 256.25

but really bad hw

they like 237.5

these s-3 units are picky.

they even get different numbers pool to pool

i suspect it may be how far you are from the pool's server's.
I am getting this psu on fri will see if it runs 4 s-3's

 i know it is far more  $ then the 1300 watt model but it will be fun to test.

Now that's a really good question, because with such difficulty jumps of more than 20% every 12 days the S3+ is utterly obsolete when they finally start shipping!

@BITMAIN, you may want to call for a company emergency meeting to discuss canning the S3+ in favor of going straight for the S4 based on 20nm (or better) chip technology. Oh wait, you already have A LOT of S3+ running in your mining farm and have to sell those off first? Good luck with trying to get them going with such well informed customers as you can find here in this thread!

asic-freq is no longer a factor with the new FW menu.

For the older firmwares, can I add in a asic-freq line to the putty command to get the 243 freq?

Would like to add that if possible without doing any firmware updates. I know many of my machines do well at 237.5, but not at 250, may try the next one up if its possible.

I ordered from Bitmain directly for the first time within minutes of the S3+ going up for sale. I can now view my order, but the edit button has gone away.

From lurking in the forums, I have read that the Edit button going away always meant that things were about to ship.

The S3+ isn't slated to ship until on or around Sept 20th.

Has anybody else's Edit button gone away for their S3+ order, and could that really mean that things are going to be happening soon??
