Uh oh.
I just had my Windows 7 upgraded from 32 to 64-bit, and some RAM added. Prior to doing so, I backed up my wallet.dat to a flash drive. After the upgrade, as expected, there was no Silkcoin folder in AppData>Roaming. I re-installed the Silkcoin wallet, and before I got it up-to-date, I replaced the wallet.dat with my backed-up version. When it got done, I restarted the computer. Opened the wallet and saw the balance I expected to see. Tested it out by attempting to send 1 SILK to an exchange account and got this message:
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
Then it shut itself down and said this:
"Silkcoin-qt.exe has stopped working
A problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This problem was repeatable. How do I get my wallet to function properly from here? It stakes well and everything but it only matters if I can get my coin back out of there. I recommend everyone else who has backed up their wallet.dat test your wallet by trying to send coin to another account and see if you're having similar issues.
A probably-unrelated issue is that after I replaced my wallet.dat with my backed-up file, I started getting the following warning upon opening the wallet:
"Warning: error reading wallet.dat! All keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect." I checked the transaction history and everything is Kosher.
The real problem here is that when I try to send coins out of my wallet, it crashes.
Thanks a million in advance for your help.

I tried deleting everything but my backed-up wallet.dat on the flash drive and doing another clean install. Now I can't even get the Silkcoin wallet to open without giving me the same runtime error warning and crashing.
Anyone know what to do?

I did another clean install and let the blockchain synch overnight. The wallet opens fine. I'm gonna replace the wallet.dat, shut the computer down, and give it a shot. Wish me luck. . .

Well, I got the wallet running again and it functions exactly like it did. I get the weird warning when I open the wallet, and it crashes when I try to send. Is anyone else having this problem and/or know how to fix it? Thanks again in advance

I couldn't figure out how to imbed an image on this thread. I wrote up verbatim what the error messages said above. I could email the images to someone though. I'm using Silkcoin version v1.1.0.12-g32a928e
Thanks

Well, I got the wallet running again and it functions exactly like it did. I get the weird warning when I open the wallet, and it crashes when I try to send. Is anyone else having this problem and/or know how to fix it? Thanks again in advance It seems we have run into issues with the installer version that was previously released for windows 8. If you have run the installer version of 1.1.0.12 - backup your wallet.dat file please click on your start menu - Programs - The Silkcoin Team - Uninstall. enter into computer - c:/programfiles(x86) - and ensure silkcoin folder has been removed by uninstaller. enter into your hidden %appdata%/roaming/silkcoin delete everything but your wallet.dat restart computer - this is required for full uninstall download the win32 1.1.0.12 .zip and blockchain download. https://github.com/silkcointemple/silkcoin/releases/tag/v1.1.0.12unzip blockchain download, and place all contents in %appdata%/roaming/silkcoin your appdata folder should now have the following files and folders textleveldb (folder) db.log blk0001.dat .lock wallet.dat if this is correct, Run the 1.1.0.12 .exe file you have extracted from the 1.1.0.12 .zip file. this should remedy the errors. Unfortunately there seems to be some error between Win 7 and Win 8 regarding the installer. We will be releasing the next version within the next day or two. I apologize for Winblows. )-:

Seems like what I've already tried. But I'll follow your procedure when I get home tonight, in case I missed something doing it on my own. It's about time I get an imgur account anyways, I suppose I'll cross my fingers and let you know how it goes. I know this community will help make this work. Getting these bugs smoothed out is just part of the process that leads to success. Thanks,

Thanks, Have you tried starting an older version of the wallet if you still have one around instead of the newest one? I would go for silkcoin-qt_win_1.1.0.0beta5 that has two versions one for 32bit and one for 64bit I can upload them if you want Good Luck

Is anyone else having this problem and/or know how to fix it? Thanks again in advance I am running winblows8.1, i've got mine going.. I also have had problems with syncing and runtime issues. I had a load of issues with the last wallet when I had it on a miner machine. When i was trouble shooting some gpu's and constantly rebooting I think i had to re download the blockchain 12+ times. The newest wallet has been the most stable for me. Do what arte is saying. Also stop your client from loading on startup. I got mine running, I just sent you silk so I know mine works fine. I've been moving silk around since the first takeover wallet, so i know it can be done with windows. Post back your results I'll do my best to get you running.

This is definitely the best wallet by far! Makes me enjoy watching it stake lol Im happy you like it, I couldnt stop watching it for a while too after i finished the first concept design! lol We are also working on applying the same theme to the rest of the wallet, but this will require alot of work in Qt. We will eventually look at adding the option of custom skins too. BTW, the multipool is not far off completion, there will be an update here when its on line

Suggestion: When you are in the Transaction Page and you scroll over the red clock, yellow clock, green check mark or question mark, could we have a little note pop up explaining what it means? Just feels like something should pop up when scrolling over so when people don't know what they mean they'll get a quick explanation.
