Hi everyone. I have a question regarding NAV Coin. I read the whitepapers of both NAV Coin and DASH, but I don't seem to figure out what is the difference between both. They are both doin anonymous transactions based on mixing. At least that is my interpretation of it. Did I miss out on something important ? If so, could someone please explain this to me ? And if there is a difference, then it might be a good idea to put it on the website and even to publish this comparison on crypto site and make a youtube video about it so people are aware of it.
NAV is TRUE and 100% anonymity, DASH not Thanks for the reply. Yes, I heard about this. But I want to know why. Why is NAV 100 % anonymous and DASH not ? I am not asking this question to be anti-NAV. If NAV reaches the level of DASH I will jump through my roof out of pure joy because I bought some decent amount of NAV last week. But I am not able to understand why NAV is more anonymous than DASH so if someone could explain this to me, I would be extremely thankful :-) Jugelio got it right. The main point of difference is that our system uses 2 block chains, which permanently disconnects the transactions and makes it impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt that User A sent coins to User B. As far as I understand, Dash uses a single block chain and essentially just mixes the coins through their system prior to you sending them which given enough time and effort can be untangled or relies on insecure architecture such as SQL databases. We also encrypt the destination address from inside your wallet and then re-encrypt it before sending it to the outgoing server via the sub-chain to further break the connection between sender and receiver. Your intended destination is never broadcast from your computer, not even via HTTPS, only ever as an encrypted argument attached to your transaction to our sever on the block chain. Also, have you actually tried to use Dash for anonymous sending? From my testing their coin mixing protocol doesn't even work. I had my wallet open for 3 weeks trying to successfully mix just 14 DASH into "DRK" or whatever they call it and it failed every time. Our system doesn't require any pre-mxing of coins. You just tick the "Send NAV Anonymously" box and it sends your regular NAV through our Anonymous Transaction Network instantly. Transactions are received within 5 minutes of sending. Transactions are broadcast from incoming to outgoing servers via a separate block chain (nav sub chain) and not managed by something exploitable and centralised like MySQL. I am working towards finishing the new Anonymous Transaction Network scripts over this weekend which will enable us to bring the system back online and closer to being able to decentralise the system. More to be revealed in my weekly update on Monday once I have more info for the progress report.

quite enthusiastic aren't you But you are a fresh account so no one is taking you serious yet... but, welcome to nav. enjoy your stay, get comfy. things should be very interesting in the near future. also, im not donating to that fund. cause if someone can crack/hack the anon on nav, then they can hack/crack anything ever and im scared for my life. #untraceable

It's there: http://www.navcoin.org/bountyIt should be automatic, the bounty page reads from the chainz.cryptoid.info API. Perhaps the API is lagging behind the actual block explorer? Not sure.

Thanks for your explanation. Really interesting. I also found an older explanation why NAV and Dash are different, but they were called Navajo and Darkcoin back then. It looks similar to what you just explained. http://themerkle.com/navajocoin-introducing-anon-transfers-using-subchains/

Jus ta repost to all that have problems with changing amounts or whatever. This will make you a clean wallet to stake and that is on the correct chain: 1. Delete all files instead wallet.dat and navcoin.conf from the working directory. 2. Load the latest Blockchain data (I just made an update) from www.navcoin.conf/files/Nav-Blockchain.zip3. Unpack this zip into your working directory 4. Update the navcoin.conf : Use this: rpcuser=username rpcpassword=password rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=44444 port=44440 listen=1 daemon=1 server=1 txindex=1 staking=0 maxorphanblocks = 10000 5. get addnodes from here: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nav/#!network (klick on "node list" from 3.6 wallet) add this list to you navcoin.conf. 6. You have already the Wallet 3.6 ? Otherwise Download from our website please. Please do not use 3.5 anymore. 7. Start the Navcoin-qt.exe 8. make a "checkwallet" on the debug window 9. close Navcoin Wallet again 10. open CMD and go to the Navcoin wallet folder where your exe is in. 11. start your wallet with: navcoin-qt.exe -rescan Regards Shahim Hi, make sure you follow this instructions. [/quote] uugh! So I think I did everything right but it won't update beyond 12 days behind, Running 3.6 the checkwallet came back as fine, running Win10, just sits there with 17 connections to the network.

Mate, if you want the community to help you give us more info! I run NAV coin on a Mac with Wine emulating Windows XP with no problems and also in an old HP Windows laptop with 2gb of memory staking great.

What is "Marging Trading" in Polo? I'm curious. Login on Polo and read the how to on margin trading. This wont happen any time soon for NAV though ETC is not even allowed in margin trading there and it has insane volume they only allow it on a few coins.

Ok. I just doubled, to the satoshi, the 18,835.49972583 NAV Bounty. I imagine it will show up soon. Couldn't wait for y'all to start pledging.
quite enthusiastic aren't you But you are a fresh account so no one is taking you serious yet... but, welcome to nav. enjoy your stay, get comfy. things should be very interesting in the near future. also, im not donating to that fund. cause if someone can crack/hack the anon on nav, then they can hack/crack anything ever and im scared for my life. #untraceable While we're very confident no one can irrefutably trace transactions which route through the anonymous system, it wouldn't be the end of the world if the bounty were claimed. The idea of bounties are that they attract very smart people to try and think of abstract attack vectors and companies reward these people for discreetly showing the flaw so it can be patched to help the product become even stronger. I guess though you're right in a way. If someone can undeniably trace a NAV Anon transaction it means they can crack RSA encryption and basically the whole internet is fucked lol! Thanks, guys. I think the Bounty is a good thing. So,imho, if NAV is gonna have a bounty it may as well be bigger. Since I have a few NAV it kind of embarrasses me to see a small bounty. So, even though there are no takers on my offer so far I will add another 18k+ NAV (or BTC equiv.) at some point. Eventually it goes toward NAV progress, no? My guess is some of you are sitting on some serious coin. I've found that the more I give the more I get. Seriously. If NAV ends up a big winner then I look forward to donating much more to the charity supported by NAV.
