Guys, when solo mining - how do I know how close to going thru all generated plots my miner is?
Anyone? It seems like 101 question...
you may simply observe this.
In linux/unix just look at the output of "iostat" while mining a longer block. Note the start and end times while reading on the plot disk is done.
Similar in Windows, look at the IO Tab in TaskManager. (or whatever its called, I have windows os)
The time taken to read in the nonces shouldn't change much between blocks.
If you did not plot your files sequentially (by using plotters over the network and having them write concurrently, for example) this timeframe may not be exactly the same for all blocks (nonces read), but shouldn't vary to much.
For me the parsing (mining) always takes some 90 seconds. If a block finishes faster than that the IO you see from that moment on is for the next block.
