Is there plans to get the wallet and miner converted to C? Java just eats up too much ram and causes crashes/reboots, even if all the ram isn't used.

I have no problems at all with the java client. Its the miner/plotter that causes problems.

Your Linux plotter works fine and the gpu plotter works good too. Just mostly the issue with the miner, it's crashes and cause a reboot on my rigs. The wallet is just optional to be ported to C.

i have no problem using plotter and miner. Not even once my computer crash or auto reboot.

I don't solo mine. I mine at pool.

Well, there should be some solution for reversing transaction at your end & also to change account id in already plotted files. I am lucky I lost only small amount & also I have plots for only 3 TB which takes not more than few days to re-plot but in worst to worst case think about stealing of millions of coins from some exchange's wallet & also re-ploting of 100+ TB files.

BTW how long should be the account ID ? My previous account ID was of 20 numeric digits but with newly generated password, I got one that of 19 digits.

I strongly disagree with you. Transactions are - and should be - irreversible. If your passphrase is too short or too common this is your problem, the client tells you to pick wisely and even makes a suggestion.
Exchanges know this and pick a good one.

The length of your account ID does not matter. If you made your initial transaction is secured by a lot more bits anyway.

Yes, I got the point. Mine was not so easy to guess but only 15 digit long (with only small letters + numbers) so I guess some brute force might have got it after some hours. While setting up the account I was unaware that I couldn't change my password afterwords & the account was attached to the password we choose (Usually it's reversed : password is attached to the account) Anyways it was a good lesson, luckily without much loss. I am re-plotting now with newly generated ID having 40+ random alpha-numeric-symbolic password.

Porting the wallet to C would be a lot of work, and it would a pain to maintain and ensure compatibility between them. A C thin client wouldn't be out of the question at some point, but its not a priority.

I've found that most miner issues are actually windows prefetching eating up peoples' ram, not the miner, however dcct did make a C miner also.

could it be because of SSD ? i am using HDD and i never encounter any problem u have. Or maybe its because of solo mine ? I never solo mine before. I am satisfied with my payout on pool for many days. Why not give pool mining a try ? u might be surprise. Especially uray pool did a server upgrade recently and everything is better than before

I have no problem with java programs except a memory consumption. I doubt the java is cause. You should to test your hardware.
And the NXT client is the best (nice & comfortable) client what I have seen.

i wonder why so many people got problem. Maybe i am one of those few lucky miner who doesn't have much problem. My rigs are very stable now. uray pool is working great and i have been mining there for days. Got my payout every day. I am a happy miner looking to expand my operation

I think the memory leaks should be fixed..

1 mining instance can use several Gb's of ram.. two mining instances running for me now equals about 5-6Gb. I can never free the memory up unless I reboot my PC

currently i am working on native miners using C++ for Linux, OSX and Windows
this miners will have random delayed submission to prevent server bottleneck and auto retry if submission failed
and it should consume less memory too than java miners, i hope it will reduce server performance issues

Due to increased difficulty, on my v2 pool I've loosened the deadline target to 100k instead of 75k, and changed the payout threshold to 250 coins. I'll be keeping an eye on the load, and may loosen the deadline target farther.

Nice! But what about pool v1? It will be great to increase deadline too.

I tried to generate one but the hash was not same as those created with AMD 13.9 drivers
