Amen brotha Smiley

I can speak only for suprnova since I mine there, I see MagiSimpson is topdog over there for some time now, I don't know if he's here on forum following this thread but anyway: you should know that you (and some other big farmers) not doing anything good for yourself nor for Magi community. With hashrate that big you dont have any profit since reward is close to zero.

I completaly understand their point of view - its hard for them to cut down hash power if the other big miner don't, thinking "why should I reduce if the others won't?"
So we should/must find a solution that big miners (all of them) reduce their hash power for everybody's good.
The 1st thing that comes to my mind is: "bigger taxes for rich, smaller for poor". Meaning inventing something so the big miners will "have" to reduce power for them sakes.

@111magic you're doing great job with POM and all the other campaigns, like I already told you: keep the great work you're doing! You'll have all the support that you need from this amazing Magi community.
@hefty thanks for "getting" the point, like you said you could also mine with ~5000kh/s but you don't since there's no point of that. I just hope the other big miner will do the same.

I'm really skilless with pools, codes ecc...so don't know how this all works...but can we contact the pools and say to automatically add %fee above lets say 250kh/s? Bigger the hashpower-bigger fee? Is that doable?
Not even sure if that's a good move, it's just a quick thought. Maybe fee will get them to reduce power so we could all benefit from.

cheers guys Wink

I certainly agree that the pool operators might like to do something about it. Their pockets are hit just as hard as miner's pockets. I might suggest going further than applying additional fees and actually going so far as to say that miners will not be credited with any shares over and above a certain level. That might drive the message home. However, we have to be aware that the smaller pools might be relying on one or two big miners just to stay in the game. That is one reason why it is so important to support the smaller pools. Get off Suprnova now - nothing personal about it - their market share is way above proportion and Noncepool too. Start supporting the two pools with less market share i.e. XMGpool and Maxminers. That way they will not be relying on big miners and might be more sympathetic to share-limiting or such like while still being able to maintain a significant market share.

Personally, I have a policy of switching the majority of my hashpower to the pool with the least support at any given time. I keep my eye on these things.

This gives me an idea for a new piece of software ...

Well, I think things will work out, we've kind of hashed out the high hash rate whale issue ad nauseam but maybe we can add something to help out the whales... Smiley

I haven't tried this but it seems possible to setup the Magi Multipool to payout when mining with the quark algorithm, (I think this is for CPU mining too).  When the Magi block reward drops, we could have the CPU hash switch to the Multipool and mine with quark (or other CPU algo), and then pay out in XMG.

Using the multipool could also be a part of PoM because you are providing buy support that is helpful.

In a way, this might be good for the other coins too if they learn to start limiting their block rewards like XMG does.  (I think this might reduce overall energy use and retain more value in the coin communities supporting the coin if they patterned their block rewards after Magi)  In any case it seems like the whales could hash away for now with all CPU's a blazing and potentially get a much better payout in XMG for the same hash rate, (if that is their goal).  Modifying the sweet spot miner or putting out some directions for doing it might help encourage people to try this.

I wonder why my staking weight is lower and lower  Huh I dont spend a single coin, only receive....  Huh

Send all your coins to yourself, then watch it over the next few days.

Oh, you mean send all to one of my address? Smiley

Yes. I created a new incoming address that I call "Staking" and send all the coins to that.

How many coins in staking? The stake weight depends on the amount of coins. (non-linear)

Added a few prior posts to OP too; someone asked for some info:

I don't know how to install it, I just know how to download it Cheesy

If you have the GMP source, you need to compile it.

./configure --enable-cxx --enable-static --disable-shared --enable-alloca=alloca
(note1: you may have to specify --build=[your hardware] if config.guess gets it wrong)
(note2: using static library gives you a faster miner than shared library)

make

make check (optional test suite before installing)

make install

then run your minerd compile again.

Incidentally, you need other libraries too, such as CURL. Installation is much the same.
I will continue this tomorrow, thank you before, Spexx Cheesy
Also try for debian-like os:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libgmp-dev

Also try for debian-like os:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libgmp-dev

To put it very concisely, a Debian-based OS can just use to following command to install all the dependencies listed in the readme:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libjansson-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libgmp-dev libcurl-dev

And if it ends up complaining about openssl after that, for some reason, you can run:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

For other Linux-based OSes, the package names are generally the same across distributions so you can likely use them along with your distribution's package manager's syntax without going hunting.

New members in extended MagiTeam (m-face)
kondiomir, go6ooo1212, prfagun1, digibob00, BitcoinFX, NeedIfFindIt, Spexx, hefty, Lightsplasher, Historical, Erkallys

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg10559436#msg10559436
(it's very ease to join, just let me know if you intend to be one of us)

Here we welcome Erkallys!

As I spoke to Erkallys when he asked to join, the current status is that "I am barely able to push the m-project forward effectively right now". So now the project is no more than a name; other than that the growth of members is an indication in part the growth of the community though. Smiley Some stuffs of mine I have to deal with need settling down, afterwards I will turn the most of time currently spent somewhere back to the coin stuffs and push the m-project forward. Special thanks to all people around in the community, posting and answering questions. I do see our special members here since the beginning. That's the merit of the magi.
