If it is stable at this price, bitcoin will be a useful tool, too much fluctuations is not good for its use as trading etc.  Only good for speculation.

If it is stable at this price, bitcoin will be a useful tool, too much fluctuations is not good for its use as trading etc.  Only good for speculation.

And if it's a useful tool, adoption will grow, and the price will go up... Which people are speculating on of course, hence all these spikes up and down.

My point? Don't expect stability. Don't bother complaining about speculation, either - it's inevitable, it really doesn't matter whether it's good or bad for the project as a whole, as long as there's a profit to be made, people will be speculating.

The wall moved from $4.74 to $4.79. Also, this Reuters article just hit:
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/01/traders-bitcoin-idUSL6E8ET5K620120401

Seems to indicate large financial institutions are at least watching Bitcoin (though they decline to comment).

I'm expecting a rally soon. Bitcoin just had some of the best publicity it has ever had. Reuters front page with a great article. That will have significance.

Didn't realize that was a front page article. Very good news indeed.

I also have some suspicion that zhoutong may have upgraded his pricing bot. Either that, or the volume has been steadily picking up.

Spreads are tighter, couple cents closer to the Gox price and it seems more responsive to price movement.

the question is if the price will go up why the player that put a 40k wall and a 10k wall dont buy the bitcoins, if is certain that the price will go up why wait buy the bitcoins now when are cheap

when the 40k wall did show up the price was 4.65 now the price is 0,20 more expensive so he lost 8000 USD(from  base price point of view) just because the price will increase even more and hell he buy the coins even later when are more expensive, totally make sense

Well I guess it's time to break out the MtGox conspiracy theories again.

That's how markets work:

1st : "It's too expensive."
2nd : "Oh no, it gets even more expensive."
3rd : "What the hell! Let's buy this before it gets to the moon."
4th : Price crashes.
