Sellers = Greedy shorters that expect XMR to follow same pattern as last year. They will be liquidated.

Look at VOLUME!

The last 2 months, we have had approximately 2 500 000 XMR traded per week !!!

Last year, if you average out the weekly volume from February till july (the ENTIRE pump/dump cycle) you end up with a measly 450 000 XMR traded per week.

PS: After reading through the last pages I know who our bear whale is. It's so easy to see if someone is long or short by their writing. Don't want to name, let's just say it's legendary.

This.

Plus, last year's pump was started because Risto said "My company will start buying, expect the price to rise" or something. There were no significant developments or news that I remember.

Very unlike this year:
- the long waited 0.9 release;
- added exposure through The Daily Decrypt + Fluffypony's interviews (particularly the one at Satoshi Roundtable);
- Shen's SDC destruction;
- more developers active on Monero.

Can we get Risto to say that again?   Grin
Actually Risto made an official announcement that the price will rise

[source]

The volume this time around is massive in comparison!

I want to know who made that 500k transaction and why they did it knowing it would be noticed? How will that benefit them? I think it only hurts the worth as a whole to know that much at least is held by one entity. Was it another scare tactic to keep suppressing the value for accumulation?

I dont see anything bad if one holder holds 500k XMR. It is bad for him, since he risked more money for one coin, but is not bad for XMR.

This 500k XMR did not fall to him from the sky, but he bought them. And I doubt he bough them much cheaper as the price was in December 2015. So he will value them accordingly.

But as was stated, coins could belong to exchange or dd belong to one guy but he sold part already. So as someone could buy 100 times 10k and no one would noticed and talk about.

speculation: the money was moved in response to something the mover thought was a more severe issue than letting everyone know that 500k was in one wallet.

I've gotta say that the price action feels bearish, and most here are way too bullish on Monero, except for the couple of loud trolls who clearly just want people to sell.  We could easily see a drop to 280 or even 250 this week.

The similarity to last year's spike is very real.  I feel like it will be different this time, but not in the sense that it just goes up without end, but rather that after dropping to 250, it goes back up again instead of continuing down to 100.

Possible but very unlikely.
If they are the same persons, there are two separate accounts in Polo since both I have seen on trollbox with their nicks.
Also,  afaik Warz is Norwegian and Aminorex from USA, NYC to be more specific.

Legendary could be their rank on BCT, like TheKoziTwo. It could also be their name, like americanpegasus or griffen.

speculation: the money was moved in response to something the mover thought was a more severe issue than letting everyone know that 500k was in one wallet.

In that case the wallet owner could easily have moved smaller amounts with mixing to not be noticed. This was intentional.

It is possible it was an exchange, if so I would like them to affirm that. *cough Polo

RingCT will take care of this.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

I'll tell you one thing, the market manipulation isn't just turning me off to Monero, it's turning me off to crypto. I've been a supporter of Monero, but if it goes under 300k I'm absolutely going back to forex. Tired of this shit. If people just want to trash markets instead of letting them breathe naturally then don't be surprised when volume dies after a few months of action, just like in 2014.

So there you have it, at 299k I'm back to being a forex trader.

With respect, that's a ridiculous position to take. How are you even defining market manipulation?

If by market manipulation you mean people with money buying and selling, then you will find exactly the same situation over in the Forex on a scale that dwarfs the minor playground that is crypto.

You cannot fight Darwinism with mood swings, particularly as what is going on here is a trade you made that is not to your liking.

In any event, this has no relation to the underlying technology whatsover.

It's a kind of blindness that reason alone cannot cure.
